Hi all!

Wanted to ask before i have to reconfigure everything from new - is it possible that im moving my user/Appdata directory (via Windows) to a new Harddisc ?
Ive bought a new SSD for my minipc and want to migrate all that stuff to the new bigger one - so i thought i just move my Appdata directory - but will this break my current Launchbox/Bigbox configuration ?

If this is not possible are there other methods to migrate Launchbox/Bigbox to other Harddrives ?

Thanks

Launchbox is a portable app, meaning that everything it needs is in the Launchbox folder, it doesnt store anything in the AppData folder nor does it touch the registry.

Hi! Thanks for your reply:

Uhm ... when you "import" the roms as i always did the Games get saved in the Appdata Folder of the user in Launchbox/Games ?
Thats why i asked - i configured also all my emulators that they use the user/Appdata/Launchbox/Games directory for that

Did you install LB in the Appdata folder?

LB is installed only to the folder you direct it to and from there it defaults its data only to the /Launchbox folder of the install.

I just used the default Path of the installer ?! Has that maybe something todo with Windows 11 ?
Lets ask the question in another way:

I see that alot of paths in launchbox are "relative" - so atleast i think launchbox always launches the roms from "its own rootpath" ?
Because then i think it should be no Problem, sorry about my stupid questions, just using it for 7 days but think its awesome so far

The default path is not the AppData folder. As i said though Launchbox is portable and if everything is in the Launchbox folder then yes paths are relative, you can just move the folder wherever you like, including other hard drives or PC's.

If you move and find things are disconnected like paths to games or emulators then you just need to reassign the path.

Emulator: You need to edit each individually in LB tools.

Games: You can bulk edit each platform.

If you have that issue just chime back in here and we can help you with the process.

Yeah with Launchbox everything was fine but i had to reconfigure my other emulators for full feature sets (like Netplay with Retroarch) and edit my mame.ini
But with Launchbox/Bigbox everything went fine - thank you for your support!
