3D Model support Question.

Does anyone happen to know if launchbox will eventually support 3d carts and media, Cabinets ,controllers and devices? It would be beautiful to animate these imagine the resident evil item view mode. You click your case and it opens like the books then the media floats upwards bringing the case downwards and you then can see the real shape of the media. Or peering into an exact replica of the first arcade machine you ever seen or played. after you are done looking at your 3d media it then goes into your machine in 3d. Even with the nes up to where your mouth would be and pffffft then into the machine. (we all know not to do this now obviously.) But it could go further to a vr axepeience where you are in a arcade in south korea with the batop joysticks animated. Or playing candy cabinets in japan with the balltop sticks. Just some things I got excited about when the boxes started. You can even throw your 3D controllers and it would make that loud pannng sound off the old crts.

Only our devs (an likely the couple others on staff) know for sure what path 3D models will take. Nothing has been mentioned though. I would wager something else might get added like arcade cabinets or maybe carts, but available art is always an issue with adding stuff like this. The only time we ever know what is planned is after a feature poll is released and the winning items are listed out. 

The last poll was in May of 2022. Most if not all those items from that poll have been implemented. So maybe later this year or early 2024 a new poll will hit us.

Issue with a lot of this stuff is being able to find models that work in the app well. Some models wouldn't be AS bad as they are unique and don't require us manually altering the required files to display the texture on. At the moment there are no solid plans on adding models outside of box models. Maybe one we have all THOSE models in we can look at adding others, but adding them before Box models are done doesn't seem like the best path forward. Realistically this feature would implemented in a way where in the game model overrides you can override with a specific model file you point us to and we load for you. This would give you the flexibility to find and utilize any model you wanted without us being tasked with the immense task of finding or creating procedural models that can be used to display models with artwork from your collection.
