technabob
I'm a little confused about how to get marquees to work with BigBox and Mame. I have a 1920x540 second display for Marquees, and if I load them into the MAME artwork folder, they appear when playing MAME games, but I have lots of Marquees in my BigBox media and when I enable the Marquee functionality in BigBox, the images are cut off, and stretched to where they aren't usable at all. I've tried playing with the various stretch settings and none of them work, so I had to disable the marquee functionality in BigBox. Any thoughts on how to get this to work properly? Ideally, the HD marquee files that I have will fill the marquee screen and display both while flipping through games in BigBox and also when playing the game in MAME. C-Beats
The answer to your issue depends on how the theme you're using was created, and how your marquee monitor is built. The first is easy, try moving to default theme and see if it appears better. Second will take a bit more to figure out. Some marquee monitors are just cut monitors that still act like the full size and so the marquee has to be treated slightly differently to make those work. We have compatibility settings in Big Box to assist with those if that's the case.

I actually figured out the solution using the ThirdScreen plugin - that was able to display the marquee properly compared to the internal marquee support. My display isn't a cut monitor - but I think the issue is that I have my main desktop set to 300% text scaling and the marquee set to 100% and that seems to cause the internal marquee settings in LaunchBox/BigBox to improperly scale the image. With text scaling off, the problem goes away but then I can't read any of the teensy desktop text on my 40" 4K monitor. ThirdScreen doesn't seem to care about the text scaling size in Windows. lexidaon
Have you ever thought about ThirdScreen? It provides more granular control over scaling and positioning of marquee artwork. Install ThirdScreen and configure it to use your 1920x540 marquee display. You will be able to set a custom resolution for your marquee independent of your primary display, allowing for appropriate scaling of your HD marquee files. fnaf
