AstroBob
Hey Everyone! We're thrilled to announce our latest addition to the LaunchBox plugin family: BigPEmu! This bad boy is the top dog for Atari Jaguar and Atari Jaguar CD emulation, with 100% compatibility. That's right, folks, every single game! Check out a brief overview video and written guide below: Getting the Plugin Installed 1. If you're on LaunchBox 13.15, head to `Tools > Manage > Plugins`. 2. Find BigPEmu, hit install, and close the plugin manager to finish the installation. Remember that installing the plugin is not the same as downloading the emulator, check our plugin manager FAQ for more info Add Your Games Import your Atari Jaguar/CD games into LaunchBox. If you use automatic imports, you can simply drop the games into their respective folders, or use the Tools > Import > ROM Files wizard. Let LaunchBox download and configure BigPEmu for you Now let's try launching one of our games. If this is the first time setting up Atari Jaguar, you'll see this prompt, asking if LaunchBox should install BigPEmu for you. Let's do that! I now see in the manage emulators section, BigPEmu and it's up to date. Configure Your Controls! While that's all there is to it, before you dive in you may want to configure your preferred controls. From LaunchBox, simply open any of your games to launch BigPEmu, and then press ESC on your keyboard to bring up BigPEmu's configuration overlay. This is where you can change various settings in the emulator. You can configure your controls under the input section Notes for Achievement Hunters While BigPEmu is undoubtedly the king of Atari Jaguar emulation, it's not the only option. For you achievement hunters out there, RetroArch will support Atari Jaguar with RetroAchievements (and BizHawk for Jaguar CD). It's possible to have both emulators configured, and using LaunchBox's launch with.... option you can choose which emulator you want to use when you launch a game. Just make sure you choose which one you want to be your default emulator. To do that, go to Tools > Manager > Emulators, and then select BigPEmu. Associated Platforms, Atari Janguar / CD is already there. Just make sure you do the same for RetroArch or BizHawk and make sure to choose which one is your default emulator for that platform. Now, when I launch an Atari Jaguar game, under Lauch With... I can select which emulator I want to use. And yes, I'm playing Bubsy... come at me Bubsy haters! 🤪 What are some of your favourite Atari Jaguar games? Let us know below. Happy gaming!
