Help with creating Playlist subcategories (if possible)

I only have free Launchbox not Big Box but was just wondering could I put playlists within playlists like right now I have a playlist with each letter but I would rather have a Playlist called A-Z and be able to hide all of those letters inside of A-Z, is that possible?

I thought maybe "Nested' could help with that, but it seems to be another way of sorting or am I wrong.

I saw where there's a "Parents" and a few pre-selected categories. But I want to make my own. Or, perhaps those can be edited or added to?

Do I have to make a Platform called "A" "B" etc....? i don't really use platforms like normal if I have a PS2 game I don't bother to call the platform PS2.

There are Categories, Playlists, and Platforms. Right Click in the left pane to bring up options for adding a new platform, playlist or category.

Categories can have groups of playlists. In example below the "Collections" item is a category.  Under that are all the playlists for each of the game type.

To add games to playlist right click (or multiple select) and will give option to add to playlist.

How you organize is done via the edit tab and you can check box where you want that playlist to show up.  If you check "root" it will be in base list.  For Categories and Playlists how you name this is completely up to you.  Platforms you can also freely name but you will save yourself some headaches on themes and using other people's media if you stick to platforms with "normal" names.

Lastly keep in mind that if you have multiple of same type of playlists or category (say Genre or Region) then you have to name them uniquely but you can also have a "nested name" which is what shows up in Bigbox and Launchbox.

However he says first thing that you make the changes in Playlist category and this will apply to Playlist, but in the Playlist section nothing changes. Maybe I understood him.

Not sure where in the video you hear this, but just want to advise the Nesting options is only useable (Add or Edit or View) when you have LB set to show "Platform Category" view. In @sundogak post the first pic right under the "Search" bar in the LB image you see it shows "Platform Category" for the view. That needs to be showing in order to properly use.

Keep in mind some restrictions.

A "Playlist" cannot have a nested listing. You cannot have a "Playlist" with a "Playlist" nested under it.

Only Categories and Platforms can have nested listings.

I was kinda doing what I wanted just now I made A-Z platform and start adding each letter to it as a playlist, but in the Youtube launchbox video when they added nesting when he would add a playlist inside a category/platform it would move it there, but mine still shows up? I had A in A-Z and also A separately from A-Z.

Also if i delete a list from platform category will it delete the playlist in playlist? Or like for example I have a category called Arcade if I delete that will it delete games or just a category you can add to games?

I actually don't use any categories like Arcade anymore or handheld I tried to delete Arcade but it deleted a bunch of games within it, but if I can't delete a category like that and if i can't not have A in A-Z and A separately, i guess I won't bother. The whole point for me is to have all the letters A-Z in A-Z not both. And not to have them in Playlist Category with categories I don't want. Also I wish it could have children within Playlist. It seems like it's not possible to just delete a platform either without deleting ALL the games within that platform. It would be a lot easier if you could easily delete a platform without it touching the games. if I delete a game from playlist, it asks whether I want to also delete it from All games, or if I delete an emulator, it does not effect the games that run in that emulator. it should be that way with a category/platform as well, in my opinion.

Not to get all conspiracy like but it's stuff like this that makes me think A.I. is coming up with all of these computer programs, because of so much stuff that make no sense. Why would a human being go well I'm going to let them have all these subcategories but not allow them in playlist (literally why?)  and make the whole thing more difficult than it should be. I get it though I'm preaching and i'm using free Launchbox which is still overall pretty bad ass for free so I'll stop. :)

I'm in Playlist 100% of the time guess I'll stay there.
