A first look

It looks good!! I really like the clean style!
For features yes. After that it's complicated to stand out I imagine Today and to release a thunderous feature!

They go in the direction of the players and will necessarily take things that worked for others!

Difficult to make a definitive opinion and will have to test it for sure

but it's cool to see them come back! :)

🤣 Practically everyone who uses LB has one question when they get it .......

How can I make this look like Hyperspin !!

It doesn't surprise me at all: there is really something special with the feeling when you navigate between the wheels.

I did the test with a friend by advising him of unified  which are nevertheless very close to hyperspin but he returned shortly after to Hyper.

Concerning the videos or the themes the content in general it wouldn't even surprise me if in a few months

and after having dissected the thing some smart guys find flaws and come out with things to make them compatible

we can imagine skins too given the community especially the Spanish and Brazilians who are on the ball on hyperpin

So you think belittling people is funny?

I wasnt talking about LB, though you think I was. hence the Stupid Emoji......

This is the trouble with Emulation and its Front Ends, People like YOU, make the scene Toxic,

I am not some stupid Youngster, sitting in his bedroom, being a Keyboard Warrior.

I've been involved, within the scene, since 1997, so I do know what I am Talking about and not some numpty............

This thread appears to have evolved into a Hyperspin versus LaunchBox discussion.
Perhaps it's time it was moved from the LaunchBox Troubleshooting forum to somewhere more relevant such as the Monkeys forum.
I'm not being facetious. I just don't see what it has to do with troubleshooting LaunchBox issues.

We both know exactly what you meant.

i am Coke you are Pepsi , that’s fine.

I guarantee once Hyperspin 2.0 is up and running the masses will all be drinking Coke.

You seem sure of yourself... And yet you haven't seen or tested it and you were still in doubt a few lines above.. Personally I would stay with Pepsi 😛

I have too much experience with Launchbox and starting from scratch doesn't tempt me at all!

(which does not prevent me from sharing in all communities)

I would like it for sure: more flexible and fluid performance but we know that the team is on the warpath to make sure that it improves!

And it will happen for sure!

Replace your old sata with a samsung m2 9800 pro: you will see it is already much better :)

After for the rest it is a shame to come and tease the old ones in a community that welcomed you with open arms..And to rekindle quarrels or false wars..

Peace man it is first of all the games and it must remain in the domain of passion ;)

I think that everyone does not care who has the biggest ...or the most super feature!

Let's stay in respect and good humor if you want

there are no losers, only winners anyway,  us:

the old retro gamers!

Wow! Long time Hyperspin user that finally had to switch to Bigbox because of all the updated features and controller support. My Bigbox looks just Hyperspin like most but the two things that really bother me about Bigbox is the wheels that sometimes take a bit to load and sometimes the start up videos just show black. If Hyperspin 2 is as smooth as the first one I would probably switch back. I’m sure it won’t be perfect either but there’s nothing worse than showing off your collection and the game wheels are blank.

So you are now showing your age by being vindictive, instead of coming out with a comment like that, find out first why I cannot access it. My Network has Facebook Blocked.......

I am not some youngster, who doesnt know what they are doing, Ive been involved in the scene since 1997 and used many a Front End.

With Hyperspin, its a shame its not behind a Paywall, because people like Upchuck and Shaw, will be rubbing their Hands, because of the money they will be making off of the Update selling their Hard drives.

Upchuck,..haven't seen/heard of that scumbag for years.  Still at it?

I'm curious to see how it evolved. I spent my first year trying to create things on hyper spin and everything was complicated. When I think back on it, my brain is boiling lol.

I keep a good memories of it because I learned everything the hard way... I remember the xml list that had to be updated to the decimal point just to add a game...

I still use it, but mainly for my arcades, and retrobat still works just as well.

It's going to be interesting to see ... the tools they're going to propose to the creators, because they'll be the ones who'll make the software work or not, since the content will essentially come from there ...

For a few years now, launchbox's level has been very high, thanks to Y2guru's community creator tools.

But I imagine they've been curious and will make sure to offer an equivalent.

Exactly.  Going in and having to edit those damn xml lists.  Infuriating.  That's why the Launchbox organizing interface just came and stole the show.  Then Big Box to show it all off!  C'mon, it was no contest at that point.

Of course you didn’t mean LB 🤣

Think of LB as Pepsi and Hyperspin as Coke ….

You drink Pepsi when Coke is out of stock.

Coke is coming back into stock …

let’s see how many people start drinking it.

Maybe this will get them (LB) to finally resolve the biggest problem with the front end ….. SPEED !!

I still think one of the most glaring user interface issues is we still don't have the ability to independently map all of our controllers for BB navigation.  Because button 1 isn't the same button across all the damn controllers lol.  I'm on like a  year old computer, and it runs just fine.  But I'd really like to be able to keymap each controller on its own so that I can swap between them and just keep right on navigating instead of having to hit a bunch of buttons using trial and error in order to figure out that this button here on the gamecube controller corresponds to button 2 or something lol.

I know! jeez.  It has taken me about 10 solid years to finally get everything in order and running smoothly.  That's even spending years creating mame artwork sets and stuff for Hyperspin, and doing all that crazy xml crap.  Then I had to start over almost entirely for launchbox.  It also took me a few years to finally work up the guts to delete my old hyperspin folder haha.  There's no way I'm going back.  They'd have to outright rip off launchbox entirely for it to even come close to competing.

Tease people ? 🤣

I am an oldie who has been a member on Launchbox for 8 years and has contributed plenty.

When I seen people crying about the new Hyperspin 2.0 I just jumped in and added my points.

That's what this forum is for isn't it ?

If Launchbox had the speed of Hyperspin there would be no contest between them like you say ... but it doesn't.

You can have all the bells and whistles you like, but if it lags and takes forever to do even the simplest command that to me becomes irrelevant.

You've always been teasing or rather pragmatic lol when we know you it's okay but take it easy anyway if i've learned one thing here over the years is that we don't really like drama (even when there isn't any)

you can quickly find yourself on an ejection seat and that's even when you have 10 years of contribution under your belt!

I say that (from experience) and for you afterwards you do what you want ^^

The one thing I sometimes miss in BB are the Transition animations that HS has between bespoke game themes, those were awesome. the dropping bombs or just the HS logo swishing in and out.

What I dont miss :

XML based databases
Gatekeeping
Snobbery
Elitism

I've been playing with the HyperSpin 2.0 beta for a few hours now.  Unfortunately, the beta is super buggy, and doesn't work most of the time.

Same here. I haven't used HS for several years but I'm a "Platinum" member and tried out their latest 2.0 release a few days ago. It's pretty buggy and disappointing from what I've noticed, and actually I was looking forward to trying it out with a pretty open mind at the same time. The HyperHQ program is decent enough but it just seems like a very scaled down version of LaunchBox or PlayNite. I give the creators/programmers credit for trying to 'revive' Hyperspin, but I think it may have become something worse than what it originally was. It's still early in the game, though.
