FfReAkDude
Is there a way to choose the German alternate title name for every game which has one? I can do it manually by editing meta data and chosing the german title, but I would like to say "if there is a german name for the game, please choose it for every game". Thank you! AstroBob
Hi @FfReAkDude, thanks for the question. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe that under Options > Data > Region Priorities, if Germany is listed at the top, the system will prioritize that region for relevant data. I know this works for box art, but I think it may also apply to additional names (assuming a German name exists in the database). Could you test this with a game you know has a German additional name in the database and let me know how it goes?
FfReAkDude
Thank you! This works for the artwork. If there is a German cover, it updates the image and displays the German version for that. Unfortunately the title is not affected by this. If i add a new game with the priority of Germany, the game is added with the German title, but then it does not link to emumovies, so I have to first add all the games with Europe or North American Region as priority and after that, I have to renew the artwork with German priority. Everything besides the alternate title is then updated. Are there other options to change the name to German?
AstroBob
Thanks for trying that. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to bulk set additional names across multiple games, but I understand the conundrum here. To slightly clarify my earlier post, the aspect that actually takes top priority is the region of the ROM. We attempt to determine the region of the ROM file based on its name and assign the region priority accordingly. The “region priorities” section acts as a fallback in cases where we’re unable to correctly identify the ROM’s region. I imagine that since many German-language games are included with the EU ROM, even if you’ve set the German region as a priority, it’s likely defaulting to the Europe designation when you import it. Unfortunately, given the lack of a way to bulk change alternate names, there isn’t an efficient method to update these in bulk. I’m sorry I don’t have a better solution for you, but I hope this helps clarify what’s happening.
FfReAkDude
Thank you for the clarification! It is not such a big deal, since the search function keeps track of the alternate names, so if I search for "Agent im Kreuzfeuer", it also gives "Agent under fire" as result. So it is more of an optical aspect. Maybe in the future there will be an update or a plugin, that lets you choose German as alternate title, if there is one. I could imagine, that this is no big problem to program, but I have no experience in programming, so maybe this is a naive assumption 🙂 I really love launchbox and my collection is nicely sorted, so I will just change the name for the few games, I frequently play. Thank you for your time!
