5thWolf Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I just need a little help getting the "Microphone" I added as a supported game controller and the icon to show up under the game. I added "Microphone" in manage game controllers and I added the 60x60 mic icon titled "Microphone" in the "Badges" folder. It does appear as an option when adding supported controllers when adding a game, however the badge does not appear under the game. I did notice all the other icones in the badges folder for controllers and such are titled controllesupprt.png mousesupport.png keyboardsupport.png. and so on. I did try naming the image Microphonesupport.png but that did nothing. Thanks in advance! 1 Quote
JoeViking245 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Does the Enable microphone support appear under View < Badges < Controller Support? I'm not sure if you can simply add them like that. May need to create a custom badge. Quote

5thWolf Posted Wednesday at 03:10 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 03:10 AM (edited) So png like all the other badges is encoded different? 🤔 I did make a 60x60 png badge Also you have a link to his badge creator? Files under his profile doesn't seem to have anything like it. Edited Wednesday at 03:16 AM by 5thWolf Quote
5thWolf Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Also I made a feature request. Once the request is approved this link will be available for up-votes for anyone interested for it to hopefully have it added in LB updates so others don't have to go through all this to manually add Mic controller support badge. https://feedback.launchbox.gg/p/microphone-controller-support-icon 1 Quote

5thWolf Posted Thursday at 03:12 AM Author Posted Thursday at 03:12 AM So far I have not been able to get it to work. I compiled it like the instructions, put the Microphone.dll into the plugin folder, enabled the plug in under plugin badges, made sure its added as a controller supported in game, made sure the image was in the badge folder. And nothing. Quote
JoeViking245 Posted Thursday at 03:26 AM Posted Thursday at 03:26 AM Can you share the .dll file you created? What folder exactly did you put the image in? 1 Quote
5thWolf Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM Author Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM Badge Microphone.dll Here it is. Also if I remove the manual addition I did before this app, then add the dll, enable the plugin badge, reboot LB. Under controller support Microphone doesn't show up. Quote

The LaunchBox Custom Badge plugin support is [still] partially broken (since at least LB version 13.21). A bug report for it was submitted July 2025. The good news is that it does work. You just need to manually add the badge image to the proper folder and name it correctly. place your dll file in the /Plugins/ folder. place you image file in \Images\Media Packs\Badges\Nostalgic Platform Badges\ The image file needs to be named the same as the UniqueID you gave it in the plugin. mic.png  One thing I noticed with the plugin you created is that for the individual games, the Support value has to be blank (or select "(Empty)"). Otherwise it will not show. Not sure if that was intended but thought I'd mention it.  1 Quote
5thWolf Posted Thursday at 01:39 PM Author Posted Thursday at 01:39 PM I originally had name and unique id as "Microphone" tried "mic" just incase the two names needed to be different. I redid everything with "microphone" as both names, created the folder "Nostalgic Platform Badges" as you showed, put the Microphone.png inside and it doesn't show as an option to add to the game. Do I still have to manually add under manage controller support? Was assuming the DLL would have made it show up. Â Quote

Yes. The dll is just a Badge plugin. Nothing more. Then, add Microphone as a supported controller to your games.  1 hour ago, 5thWolf said: created the folder "Nostalgic Platform Badges" as you showed That folder didn't already exist?? What version of LaunchBox are you on? 5thWolf Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Didn't work. It still doesn't show under the game. 😔 Version 13.25 What version bagan using the nostalgic folder? What was the point of it? Edited 8 hours ago by 5thWolf Quote
JoeViking245 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Hmm... worked here using the method described above. (13.25) 40 minutes ago, 5thWolf said: What version bagan using the nostalgic folder? What was the point of it? v13.21 Do you have any folders or images under \Images\Media Packs\Badges\?  Where are your default badge images located? (e.g. Steam, Achievements etc.) Media Packs - LaunchBox 1 Quote
5thWolf Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago (edited) I was using \images\Badges But I do see \images\Media Packs\Badges\Nostalgic Platform Badges I haven't messed with badges since way before creating a "Map" badge many many versions. I never knew about these new folders. Trying it in this folders now....... Edited 6 hours ago by 5thWolf Quote
5thWolf Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Ok I added the Microphone image to both nostalgic and legacy folders and nothing Awesome learning about the new badge folders! Thank you for that! You Just helped me figure out with these new locations the playlist icons and why my newest added playlist icon wasn't working! KUDOS! Recreating the plugin file just incase, But have one question.... which one do I choose? "Catagory" or "Name" in this spot? And if it should be something other than "Microphone" Edited 6 hours ago by 5thWolf 1 Quote

"Catagory" or "Name" in this spot? And if it should be something other than "Microphone" In the one I downloaded from your earlier post, you had it set to Category.  "Microphone" is fine because that's what you called it when you added it in Manage Game Controllers.  Where your screenshot shows "partial support", that going to make the plugin look for only Category="Microphone" AND Support="Partial Support". So not sure if you want to remove that latter part. In the C# code section, with the latter part it will show in there somewhere something like && Value.Equals("Partial Support"). You'd want to remove that part if you only want to check if the Category="Microphone". 1 Quote
5thWolf Posted 15 minutes ago Author Posted 15 minutes ago (edited) Yeah, I was just choosing that because you mentioned about it being empty before and I set the game to be partial as well. But other then that I am not sure what else to try. I tried it as category and name just to try. I just noticed there is a plugin folder inside the core folder as well as the root folder, which is the normal place I been using for plugins that work. So just double checking if the plugin folder I supposed to use is in the root LB folder still? Edited 1 minute ago by 5thWolf Quote
