SMASHINGblargharghar Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) Hello, I’ve been working on creating English clear logos (also called wheels or wheel art) for Japanese games that have received an English fan translation (JP-EN). All logos I’ve completed so far have been submitted to the LaunchBox database. If you scrape jp-en / fan-translated games in your library that are covered in this thread, you should now get an English clear logo. I’ve tried to stay faithful to the original logo design unless a more modern version of that logo exists -- in which case, I'll opt for the modern logo. I'm aiming to cover every system and create logos that closely match the style and feel of the original Japanese versions so that fan-translated games look consistent in LaunchBox. In other frontends such as Emulation Station/ES-DE, RetroBat/Batocera, and EmuELEC these are typically called wheels or wheel art. Zipped collections are attached to this post and include both the clear logos and a set of generated marquees/banners for each system. High-resolution versions are included where available. These packs only contain logo's created by myself and others in this thread. Pre-existing translated logo's are not included and can be found on the Launchbox DB. Want to help? - If you notice a missing title, have an improved version of an existing logo, or want to help with a system, feel free to post here or send me a message. Improved logos from other users (such as @launchretrogirl2562) are being integrated and credited. - Create 2D/3D Box Arts using these logo's and submit them to the DB. - Upvote my suggestion to add a proper region tag for fan translations (jp-en, etc.) so these logos don’t have to default to a specific country or “World.”: https://feedback.launchbox-app.com/p/region-tag-specifically-for-fan-translations - Upvote my suggestion to add a showcase page where people who create media can optionally have a page to display all their work. It requires installing ImageMagick and adding it to your Environment Path. The script expects clear logo's to go into a "wheel" subfolder with all logo's having a -wheel suffix and fan art/boxart to go into a "images" subfolder with a -fanart or -boxart suffix. I will definitely do so as soon as I have more systems complete. If you find room for improvement or find fan-translated games that need a logo, feel free to post your submissions/requests in this thread. I'll try my best to update the combined posts above with your contributions and add a credit below the image so people will know who made it. At some point if this project grows beyond my capability to manage new submissions in the original posts, we'll figure something else out... But honestly I hope it does! I would love to see a bunch of artists creating translated logos for fan-translated games in multiple languages. I'll make a feature submission for Launchbox DB to add a region tag specifically for fan translations or maybe a language tag and update when it gets posted. 1 1 Quote

Maybe Master System, PC Engine, Neogeo Pocket, and Wonderswan as they're a less daunting effort than NES and I'd like to get some more complete systems on the board before taking on something that will probably take months. 1 1 1 Quote
