soqueroeu Posted Sunday at 12:59 AM Posted Sunday at 12:59 AM I started a new Launchbox installation, with the new version 13.27. One of the goals is to remove duplicate images. As an initial test, I imported only the NES platform and, if I'm not mistaken, I denied any image downloads, but at the end of the process, I have several folders full of them. There are images in Clear Logo, Fanart, Front, Screenshot, and Screenshot - Game Title. The last one contains only 3 images. So what should be the expected behavior for this new build regarding images? Also, is it possible to make Launchbox scrape images by pointing to a folder I have, using the filename as a parameter? Thanks! Quote

No. (at least I'm pretty sure not) If the images are named the same as the games' Title or ROM filenames (e.g. they came from an older LB build), you can copy them straight into your current LB Images folder(s) (matching platform/image_type of course). If (using my e.g.) your other build had say 200 game images of a certain image type, and your (new) current one only 100 of those games, go ahead and copy all the images over (for ease) the use the Media Cleanup Wizard to remove images that don't have an associated game. Ferramentas - - - Mídias de Importação Automática Thanks for your time. Well, I checked the feature and everything is disabled for any image. No downloads allowed. As I said, I imported the first platform during the Launchbox installation process, not after. I actually chose not to download any images, but it seems that had no effect the first time. Anyway, I did a new import for another platform and this time, without any image downloads. Could we be dealing with a bug? Also, can I trust Launchbox to always pick the best version of each cover image, in terms of originality? What criteria does the Launchbox team use to make this selection? I didn't catch that it was during the initial welcome/installation process. Maybe one of the developers can chime in with a more definitive answer. But I do know when the Welcome Wizard was first introduced in v13.23, it would down those base images to 'get you on your way' to start playing games. I believe that was subsequently changed. But can't say for certain. As you discovered, imports done outside of the Welcome Wizard functions as you'd expect. 29 minutes ago, soqueroeu said: Also, can I trust Launchbox to always pick the best version of each cover image, in terms of originality? Straight forward answer, no. What's considered the best version of an image is too subjective. 34 minutes ago, soqueroeu said: What criteria does the Launchbox team use to make this selection? Of course, regional preferences will take precedence. After that I imagine it's somewhat arbitrary. Again, maybe after the weekend, one of the developers will chime in. 1 Quote
soqueroeu Posted Sunday at 06:57 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:57 PM (edited) Hey ! Why can't I point to an images folder to import them into Launchbox? How about implementing this in a future version? Also, Why does Launchbox place some images separate, instead a specific subfolder? Edited Sunday at 07:19 PM by soqueroeu Quote
damageinc86 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago So, if you have images named properly, like "game name-01.png" to match what launchbox shows as the title,..then launchbox should automatically show them when you hit a refresh (F5) of the games. I have almost exclusively custom images for my setup, and I routinely drag 'n drop images/sets of images that I've already named properly into the image folders and after a refresh they show up fine. 1 Quote
