Hey everyone, I’m running into a weird mapping issue in Big Box on my arcade cabinet. I want to completely block people from opening the System Menu using the arcade controls, so I left the Back action totally unmapped in the controller settings. The plan is to only allow access via a keyboard. The problem is that one of my arcade buttons still opens the System Menu anyway no matter what I do. The only workaround I've found is turning on the Hold ESC to exit setting. When that’s enabled, the arcade button finally stops triggering it.
Any idea why Big Box is forcing this button to open the menu, and how I can completely unbind it? I am on the latest version

If you totally disable/un-assign/un-map the Back action, when they enter into a platform [to look at games], how are they able to get back to the platform view?  I presume your cab's encoder is in Xinput mode (vs keyboard mode).  Otherwise you need to look in Keyboard Mappings.

Sounds like you found the System Menu < Options < General < Require Holding Back to Navigate to System Menu option.  And I think that's your [only?] option for what you're wanting to do.  Seems to be about a 3 second hold. So unless they set their beer on the button, that should/would/could be sufficient.

Depending on your encoder's mode (Xinput or Keyboard), check your mapping for
System Menu < Options < Controller Mappings < View System Menu
System Menu < Options < Keyboard Mappings < View System Menu

These will take you directly to the System Menu, regardless of Require Hold...

I don’t display games by platform, I only have a long list as they are all arcade and that works good for me, so the back button is not an issue. The controller is mapped as xinput, so I’ll check the Controller Mappings again, thanks

I'm having the same issue. "Back" on my Xbox One controller is swapping back to Big Box, leaving the game running somewhere in the background. This seems to have been introduced in the latest beta update. I didn't have this problem before, and pressing Start+Select was the only way to bring up the Big Box UI while in-game. Setting "Back" to no input is not an option, as then I can't navigate Big Box.

Ouch!  this is unfortunate.  I really hope they can address the bigbox controller navigation stuff.  That type of basic QOL feature should really be ironed out.  I'm still waiting for the ability to assign big box navigation controls on a per-controller basis, instead of assigning a blanket mapping to all controllers.  I think it's been a little over 5 years since my bitbucket post for it, which was marked a duplicate of a bitbucket post from 2016!.  I'd even donate to a crowdfunding account specifically for this big box controller stuff.
