Cookie Posted Thursday at 06:20 PM Posted Thursday at 06:20 PM I lost my collection a few months ago and I haven't used LaunchBox in a while. While rebuilding my collection, I noticed that many artworks were upscaled or enhanced with AI. Unfortunately, many of these new images were just badly upscaled with plenty of artifacts noticeable at first glance. Now don't get me wrong, I have myself used AI to enhance images before but only up to a point I would still feel like the enhanced image quality was actually good. My go to solution to do this in the past has been Topaz Labs Gigapixel AI. It comes with many different machine learning models that are regularly updated and geared towards specific use (photography, art, CGI, etc.) which in my personal opinion, produce noticeably better outcomes depending on the original image quality as long as the upscale ration doesn't go above 2x. I feel like a lot of artwork in the database have been lost to the AI upscale and it's jarring to see because many of those images are just bad now. Is it possible maybe to restore previous images and flag AI upscaled images as such so that we can choose if we want to use them or not? Or maybe standardize the solution used to upscale images so that we all contribute if it actually increases the quality of said images with AI? Quote
Hanz Posted Thursday at 07:33 PM Posted Thursday at 07:33 PM I've been trying to reject it any time I see it, but it is difficult. In my opinion, if we are going to have a database it needs to preset accurate information and upscales are in no way accurate. I made this feature request forever ago to get people to at least label it properly: https://feedback.launchbox-app.com/p/separate-image-category-for-ai-generated-fanart Quote
