Updating media from Emumovies takes forever

I have NO idea whatsoever why this happened. The only thing I can imagine is a bug with my VPN. I'm using Nord.



I had to re-ennable it and then the Emumovies website worked again.

This happened only today, so this was not the reason for emumovies to act up, since that has been happened all week.

I cancelled the download and selected my 1000 games excludig the ones with + in the title, downloading floppy, music, manuals, video snaps and video themes. This seems to have worked (emumovies didn't download anything, beacuse all media files were present, I think (I hope).

So the next test ist really interesting and connfirms, I believe, your theory about the + games:

This is the 6 games in my SNES library selected downloading floppy, music, manuals, video snaps and video themes.



As you can see, it wants to download over 60.000 files and the number is rising:



Holy smokes, what's going on here? 

Anyway THANK you so much for pointing me in the right direction. There are certain ways for me to bypass this issue for now. Is this a bug that can be fixed with a Launchbox update or is this something that should be reported to emumovies?

That was it! IPv6 was actually disabled on my active Ethernet adapter as well.

I enabled “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” again, and now both the EmuMovies website and LaunchBox syncing are working normally without a VPN.

I honestly have no idea why IPv6 was disabled in the first place, as I didn’t change anything there myself.

Wow, what are the odds this exact same fringe bug happens to two different people from Germany on the same day. Do you use NordVPN as well? Or could this have been a Windows update issue? I'm at al loss. If anyone knows, please tell us.

But this is a different issue from the one I've been having.

When I did some testing yesterday with an Arcade full set of 22,409 games, the Searching EmuMovies for Arcade Full Set media... took 14-minutes.  Then it was able to start Downloading xxx of yyyy media items.

After 48 minutes of 'good' downloading, it encountered what I presume to be the + sign issue. At this point it would start the Searching... again for 14-15 minutes. Then do some more downloading and continue the cycle.  Each time it 'cycles', yyyy would increment (in my test) by about 2500.

yep, i am using Nord VPN as well, but it wasn't active, when the issues started. Everything work just fine as usual today, and then all over the sudden i noted endless loading when trying to add assest to launchbox via sync. And when trying to setup a post in the EmuMovies forums i noticed that the website (and only emumovies) does not load properly. Really weird

Hi all,

New to launchbox, based in the UK and it seems to be playing up for me aswell when trying to download just music and high quality videos from emumovies. It’s literally flicking between searching and downloading every few seconds. I’m now downloading file 8000+ out of 845,700 but it started on just a few thousand and rising - I’m only trying to scrape 22 3ds games.

Yeah that looks to be the issue. Scraped a full set of Dreamcast, PS1 and GameCube with no issues. Is there any way around it that you are aware of?

As stated above, I'm hoping to discuss this with the developers this week.  But a fix wouldn't be available until the next release at the earliest.

A 'work around' would be to not select games with a + in the title when using Tools-Download.   For those games, I don't know if editing them individually and downloading images etc. from EmuMovies will work or not.

Also noted earlier in this thread is that it appears downloading videos from EmuMovies isn't an issue. So you could use Tools-Download... and select images from LB, and only videos from EmuMovies. Then shouldn't have an issue.
