The question is interesting, but it's more akin to a technical challenge or compulsive completionist syndrome!" Let's be honest: you all know that one lifetime will never be enough to play through all these games. We're no longer really in a collecting mindset, but rather in a sort of quest for self-satisfaction, even a frantic accumulation. Because a real collection—whether physical or digital—is something to be browsed, admired, returned to, and taken the time to get a little lost in it. Worse: it's not even certain you'll reopen this collection once it's completed... Let's be honest: between us, the goal isn't really to play all these games anymore, is it? We're talking about thousands of titles piled up in a corner of a hard drive, carefully sorted, carefully categorized... and never launched. We click, we download, we mentally check a box: "This one's good, I've got it. Next one!" But at what point did we start confusing collecting with compulsion? And the worst part? The more we have, the less we play. Because we don't even know where to start anymore. Because quantity kills desire. Because pleasure has been lost in the labyrinth of "having it all." A real collection, whether physical or digital, is something you experience. You contemplate it. You browse it, a bit like an old library. You open a box, you remember a theme song, a cover, a startup sound... You stop, you explore. You feel something. What we're seeing more and more are folders filled to the brim with gems... that we haven't even taken the time to look at once. Games that are sleeping in a corner of the frontend, like books we've never opened but are showing off in the window for show. What if we got back to basics? A console, a few games, a video theme that immediately sets the mood. It's not the quantity that matters. It's the story you tell with your collection. The one you tell yourself. So yeah, install your games. But above all: experience them. Admire them. Rediscover them. Because a frontend, a collection, isn't an Excel spreadsheet. It's a living work of art. And you are its guardian.3 points

Hi Folks. I wrote an app as an add-on to Zombeaver's excellent C64Dreams project. Features: Makes installation into existing (or indeed vanilla) Launchbox installations a lot easier (fully automated). Automates adding other C64 games to the C64Dreams collection without having to mess about with .bat, .vbs, .ahk files. Also automates adding to the Launchbox database (not having to add it manually). Lets you search the C64Dreams collection for specific games in-app rather than having to launch Launchbox each time. Fixes broken Images for Platforms, Platform Categories and Playlists. Also lets you use your own images and automates the installation to launchbox process (GIMP template attached to this post for convenience). Fixed it! PCSX2 Has an enhanced dualsense function to get vibration and LED colors, but it seems it also aggressively takes over the controller. Turn it off in the settings and it acts as normal!1 point

Thanks! Was able to replicate this to an extent - switching to Images View fixes the error popup and LB works normally. But switching back to List View shorts everything out again - the popups return, and the game details do not show up. So maybe a problem with the list view specifically. I'm still having the same issues upon relaunch, but I probably haven't restarted as much as you. (Also, running Windows 11, if that's helpful.) Overlooked to include the entire error message as you pointed out - entire error listed below:1 point

The entire error message would probably be most helpful for the developers. When you have the message box in focus (selected), you should be able to press Ctrl+C to copy it to the 'clipboard'. Then you can press Ctrl+V here, in your reply. Try switching to Images View [Ctrl+Alt+A] (vs. List View). That's what seemed to fix it for me. At least until it's resolved in the next beta release. However, for me... [doing some "stress-testing"] after switching the views back and forth several times (and needing to close the error messages in between, but ONLY when switching to List View) , restarting LaunchBox into the different views [several times], it seems to "have fixed itself". Running Windows 10. Error 1 (taken from Logs) 2025-05-23 12:23:14 PM FIRST CHANCE EXCEPTION: The DisplayIndex for the DataGridColumn with Header 'System.Windows.Controls.Border' is out of range. DisplayIndex must be greater than or equal to 0 and less than Columns.Count. (Parameter 'displayIndex') Actual value was 35. Error #2 (taken from Logs) 2025-05-23 12:23:14 PM DISPLAYED EXCEPTION: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.1 point

@Bobbel Okay, I found the problem. Apparently when LB moved to new server, it appended a .mp4 to the zip files. I was able to download them though and just rename them removing the .mp4 at the end. I.E. when you look at them in the download list it is called "Complete_Ultimate_Playlists_Video_Set.zip.mp4" which was maybe how it was recovered during the server change. After I downloaded it, I renamed it to Complete_Ultimate_Playlists_Video_Set.zip and it is fine and extracts correctly. You ISP or other things might be preventing the download as it see's them as videos rather than zip files. Can you try to download again and if given the option to rename before the download begins, make sure to delete the .mp4 at the end so it is distinguished as a zip file. I will try to re-upload them tonight for you in case the above doesn't work for ya. Thanks for reporting!!!1 point

I can confirm that the Steam version is working now just like my other Steam games!, thank you soooo much for the assistance! I was going a little crazy thinking it was just me. Other games in my Steam library work perfectly but i just could not get this one to work! I cannot thank you enough!1 point

I just tested the Steam version and it seems that the window focus issue at start is caused by the splash screen. You can fix it by disabling the splash screen. To disable the splash screen, right click the game on Steam, select Properties..., in LAUNCH OPTIONS. add the following: -NoSplash It should look like this: If for some reason you're not launching it through Steam and you're launching the game's exe directly, add the previous code "-NoSplash" to the Application's Command Line parameters on LaunchBox. It should look like this: (Right click the game on LaunchBox, select Edit > Edit Metadata/Media, then go to the Launching section on the left panel) Alternatively you can disable the splash screen by just renaming or deleting the splash image located within the game's files (".\TEKKEN 8\Polaris\Content\Splash\Splash.bmp").1 point

Neither I nor the project are dead. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about and does not speak for me. Work has not stopped since the last version. It has slowed at points because of significant IRL issues which I've neither the obligation nor the inclination to share because they're frankly no one's business but my own. What I can say is that, despite that, I've continued to work on it. The reason that the next version hasn't been released yet is a combination of those issues and, more significantly, that there are major changes/improvements that will be coming in the next version that require massive amounts of time to complete. There have been significant feature additions in the past like manual swapping that caused delays and the changes in this version require multiple times more work than that. It's a process, a tedious and time consuming one, but it's a process that needs to be done. Again and again and again and again and again and again... and eventually I'll come out of the hole, blink at the sun, and be done. But I'm not there yet. And I won't compromise the quality or standards of the project for anyone, just because they want it sooner. If that's too much to ask, that's unfortunately, as they say, tough shit. I don't report to or work for anyone. I have a vision that will be maintained. I have not dedicated years of my life to this project to either throw it away or let anyone else dictate how I should use my own skills and my own efforts and my own time. Gamebase64 has been around for 20+ years. CSDb.dk has been around for 30+ years. The library itself spans 40+ years because they're still being made and released to this day. I have to take all of that, gather it all in my arms, dump it in a pile, and turn it into something manageable, into something presentable, and into something usable, while maintaining the high standards that I hold myself to. And I have to do that, essentially, by myself. There are a number of very significant contributors in this space that this project would not be what it is were it not for their efforts - that cannot be overstated - and I am immensely grateful to those people. I try to name them by name - people like StatMat, sonninnos, the Ultimate Tape Archive team, everyone at GB64 and CSDb and more - and thank them as often as I can because I know firsthand the tedium and the effort that is required for these sorts of projects. But C64 Dreams, itself, is largely a one-man show. That can of course be a disadvantage at times because it means that it takes longer because 99.7% of the work is on my shoulders, but it also means that the end result is exactly what I want it to be. And people are, thankfully, generally pretty positive about that. Even people that have no idea what all work it actually entails (which is to say, essentially everyone), often one of the first things they say is "Wow... this must have been a lot of work." That would be an accurate assessment. I've worked on a number of emulation-related projects over the years that I've released to the public (C64 Dreams of course being the most significant of these) and, in every single case, they were endeavors that I undertook, ultimately, for myself - because I wanted things to be a certain way, because I wanted the experience to be better. But I decided hey, you know what, I'm putting in all this work for things that others might also appreciate, I might as well put this out into the wild. But the other part of that statement is the fact that I've also not released things publicly numerous times over the years for no other reason than just not wanting to deal with everything that entails. When I read comments like this, I feel completely justified in that decision. Not only is it not helpful in any way, not only does it actively undermine your own stated intent of seeing faster progress given the fact that it aggravates the one person that's actually putting in that work, but it also discourages anyone else that might consider for a moment whether or not they should publicly release projects like this. Why would anyone want to deal with that? Why would anyone see this kind of entitled attitude and say to themselves "Yeah, I want to use my time, my money, my mental energy, my sleep, my skills, and the cost of not using those things over the course of years of my life for myself, my family, and my friends... for this guy." When it's done, it'll be released. Until it is, it won't be. Period.1 point

What is it? CoinOps Redux is a port of CoinOps Next to BigBox, co-created with @Klopjero. The theme has been developed using the Community Theme Creator (all the credit to @y2guru) and should display correctly in both 16:9 and 4:3 ratios. As in the case of CoinOps, it relies on 1120x1080 fanart images for game wheel views. Big thanks to BritneysPAIRS and the CoinOps team for their work in CoinOps and for their amazing theme design. Views It includes the following BigBox views: - 4 platform views. - 2 game wheels for arcade based systems. - 2 game wheels for non-arcade based systems. - 2 horizontal game wheels. - Systems view. Supporting more than 130 systems. For platform views, we suggest to use @viking colorful videos. Files available [CoinOps Redux 1.0.zip] The BigBox theme files. Just uncompress and copy / paste to Launchbox\Themes folder. All platform background images are included in the file. [Platforms] Sets of fanart images (1120x1080) for several platforms. If you want to use them, just unzip and copy / paste to Launchbox\Images\[Platform]\Fanart - Background. * It is also possible to use the fanart packs uploaded by @RedSnake for his DarkRoom theme (or use these in DarkRoom). I was sick of seeing crappy Nintendo Game Boy Color box images in my collection (I made this set years ago in lower resolution with the annoying Game Boy Color logo on all the spines). I remade all boxes in high quality HD with accurate spines on most boxes. All USA games and Euro exclusives are included, along with many Japanese exclusives that can be played in English. Most spines and boxes on the USA and Euro games are all retail accurate, some spines may be custom made if I couldn't find proper source images. As always I included PSD templates for the 2D and 3D boxes if anyone wants to include their own games not included here. About 669 games have been done here. This system was a big pain finding suitable source art. For some reason GBC (and also GBA) are a lot harder to find HQ scans than the original Game Boy games. I got lot of images off ebay and thecoverproject, but most of the covers were standard low res 500x500 that I had to enhance and clean up. Most came out great. There are some covers that look pretty awful like International Superstar Soccer 99 (USA). I could not find a decent source image for the north american release anywhere! I image enhanced a crappy 200x200 thumbnail image I found and replaced the logo and its doable for now. NHL Blades of Steel (USA) is another one that was tough to find. Big thanks to all the logo wizards in the forums who helped create some clear logos for some of these boxes. Feel free to let me know if there are any errors. If anyone has better scans for some of these covers let me know, And if anyone wants to upload some of these to the Games DB, by all means do so. Enjoy this collection!1 point -
You can't make LaunchBox remember how they were expanded before, but you could alter the theme so that the items all start expanded instead of starting collapsed.1 point
