ok, this is what is in my ini folder...I'm pretty confident I have something else wrong. SOME of these games should play, right? I didn't unzip my roms, this what they look like in my mameui "roms' folder...
-
I have the 193 romset and the 200 mameui. Again, I only did the latter because the tutorial clearly said the mameui version wouldn't matter, I would just lose any added games between 193 and 200. I swear! I honestly thought the two had to basically match....the rom set and mameui version, until johnny tutorial said otherwise. Sorry, I see what I did above, it should have said 193 to 200, obviously, I corrected it. So going just 7 versions up renders all the games in 193 inoperable? James
-
Understood, but absolutely ZERO of the games in the list are indicating they would work. Going from 193 to 200 would render the whole set dead, lol? So now, download ver 193 and go through the process again? thanks James
-
Of course. He states specficially in the tutorial that you can download the latest MAMEUI, you just may lose some of the newer games. Surely I just now download the "proper" MAMEUI version .193 rather than another 60 gig file (that I couldn't find in the first place)? Thanks- I just knew this wouldn't work. James

Googled my issue and the first thing I found was someone having issues when the audio was not being output to the monitor/tv - he was outputting through the CPU like I was...not sure how that happened all of a sudden - but it did. Switched the output to the monitor and now I get this when I start a game...
-
None that I saw. I did get cute though and followed your lead...I went into "options" then "directories" and cleverly did this...hit "browse" and went to the roms folder and set it there...app still crashed upon game start up did I screw up already?! the video simply shows to put the roms in the mameui "roms" folder and then starting mameui. He clicks on the game and it starts! I swear I did this step for step, lol thanks James
-
Well, the ROMS all downloaded, so I followed the tutorial as closely as I was able... Moved the ROMS into the MAMEUI roms folder. Opened MAMEUI, went to start multiple games, multiple times, MAMEUI crashed every time. I never unzipped the ROMS, simply moved the folder from one spot to the MAMEUI rom folder. Ideas? I'm using the MAME 193 collection. Thanks of course. James

I hear ya- unless there’s something out there I missed, it will be just GT for me. I was never into the game before- but then my neighbor got a 2005 real unit and I thought it was fun with a few guys- the game. Made this with that primarily in mind and it’s been a blast -

Thanks- Re the 0kb zip: I thought retro808 said I needed to create one for Golden Tee? and I hear you re more to be emulated: I’m just talking about the stuff 2005ish and earlier- I was the biggest gamer I knew until about the ps2- then I think it just got too “real” for me, lol. Still, I buy- and then sell- all the new systems, always convinced I’ll get back into “modern” gaming: I currently have a PS4 Pro that I bought for racing games: built two wheel/pedal set ups and race on a 150” screen w 11 channel surround sound...like once a month! good to hear about the tankstick: I just want to be able to enjoy this... ha James -
[SOLVED] Golden Tee Fore 2006 Complete through LaunchBox
thejamestownoasis replied to djetaine's topic in Troubleshooting
Right, thank you. I started watching one you tube tutorial and it simply seemed too convoluted- for me, at least. I moved onto the next- by a gent named “gta prime” and it made it much more straightforward: basically: d-load launchbox, get your rom set, d-load mameui, import roms into mamegui, launch launchbox, use emu manager to import mameui as the arcade emu, import roms with your preferences. I’m waiting for my 60gig rom set to d-load- I will take your advice and get everyrything running in mame/ui before bringing it to launch box- thanks. couple quick questions if I may: 1. How do I create a 0kb zip file? Sorry, prolly obvious, but I’m just used to unzipping files. 2. I was running retropie on a r-pie 3 and it was fine- until I wanted the newer Golden Tees. One thing I really liked about it was navigating with my X arcade tank-stick: no keyboard- is that possible with launch box? One HUGE upside to me wih LB over Retro will be the ability to import games without all the clones/duplicates and other stuff- there was a LOT of that in Pie that wore down some of the fun. I’m sure my next struggle will be getting the x-arcade trackball/joysticks working! this stuff is tough for a NEW layman like me cause I’m just so ignorant as to an “aerial view” of everything: roms-emulator-front end. I only just recently realized the distinction between the emulators and the front ends that tie them all together lol. This whole “retroarch” side of things sounds cool: like a multi-emulator emulator? thanks so much for the help! Once I get these all going I’ll never touch it again...I mean the most updated rom set has 99.9+% of everything that can be emulated anyway, right? thanks again! James -
[SOLVED] Golden Tee Fore 2006 Complete through LaunchBox
thejamestownoasis replied to djetaine's topic in Troubleshooting
“The mame “self extracting package”??? that’s what’s appearing when I’m attempting to play either the chd or iteagle file in LB? Wow. Never would have guessed this in a million years- I figured they were files attached/within the CHD or BIOS files, respectively. And right re my inexperience: as I had mentioned a few times, this is all new to me. I will watch and read the tutorial; seems the making of the imi file and the steps thereafter are already steps I was inaware of. I thought this would be as easy as selecting the proper emulator: MAME - directing LB to said emulator via a path: done (or so I thought after adding GT, selecting mame as the rom, and then adding the path) Then downloading the “regular” ROM set: in process. And then finally leading MAME/LB towards them via a file path after I went to add their respective folder. I’m certain creating this imi, and then making an adjustment will yield plenty more missteps for me, lol. thanks again for the help James -

something tells me that I shouldn't have had to create my roms folder in the launchbox folder, but thinking more about it, upon importing games it does ask me if it wants me to move or copy them to the launchbox "games" folder, so maybe I"m ok with having my roms in a folder I create and then just have LB move them over. cool, well I must have done something wrong as it first imported it as "gt2005" but with no art and of course it didn't work. THEN I moved the zipped iteagle into the subfolder with it and got... I also have the MAME exe in the "LUANCHBOX main folder, just FYI. Thanks! James -
[SOLVED] Golden Tee Fore 2006 Complete through LaunchBox
thejamestownoasis replied to djetaine's topic in Troubleshooting
so, please see what I've done, which I'm sure is wrong. I created a "LAUNCHBOX" main folder that has all things launch box...then, when I ran/extracted LB, I didn't see a "roms" folder created by LB, so I created one. I then added the "iteagle" zip to it, a subfolder called "gtfore05" also within it (still haven't found 06 on its own) and then placed the 05' CHD file within that subfolder. I was just going to make it a "guess and check" operation because I've taken in so many methodologies from different folks- many of which seem contradictory, but still work. Thanks James -
[SOLVED] Golden Tee Fore 2006 Complete through LaunchBox
thejamestownoasis replied to djetaine's topic in Troubleshooting
I had no plans to emulate them in anything other than MAME- someone had brought up "retroarch" (which I thought was a front end like Launchbox), but I am completely unfamiliar with that. I was going to import the CHD and BIOS file into Launchbox, use MAME as the emulator - and, hopefully- call it a day. I'm sure I'm making this much more complicated than it really is and once I discover the proper methodology, I'll have to find something new to make more difficult that in really is. James -
[SOLVED] Golden Tee Fore 2006 Complete through LaunchBox
thejamestownoasis replied to djetaine's topic in Troubleshooting
Thank you my friend, but are you sure that they contain the latest GT's? NONE of them I have seen have had anything past 2K - and some have noted that it is because they specifically (those later than 2K) require the CHD (and BIOS) files. I now have the CHD and BIOS (seemingly, anyway, lol) I just want to make sure I'm placing them in the proper place, correctly. Please do not think I'm implying I know what I'm talking about, cause I don't...just relaying what I've seen so far. Got ya on the complete ROM set- I've seen (and have) that ~ 60 gig set and it already has more than I'll EVER use lol. Thanks! James -
Thanks- yes, very new to this so I’m grateful for the help. First thing’s first: I cannot even find the proper files. I don’t know how much Nintendo has shaken up the ROM world in the last couple weeks, but I’ve spent more time than I’d ever care to admit to, looking for the ROM, BIOS, and CHD for this game: incredibly frustrating. Least I have the CHD, lol. If I at least had the correct files I’m sure I could putz around until I got it to work, but I cannot even get to step “2”, lol. I believe I saw “MAME” in LB as the only selectable emulator for arcade titles- perhaps I just missed retroarch as an option. Gulp. the whole app DOES seem very straightford, otherwise. I had a couple Sonic games up ans running within 15 mins. Darn Golden Tee! It’s really the only game I want to out this “work” in for, anyway! thanks James
-
Also a NOOB here and I'm having a bear of a time getting Golden Tee Fore 06 going. I don't even know if I have what I need, lol. I have the CHD file, but I keep reading that I need the "BIOS" / eagle file as well??? Then, these just go into the "roms" folder, created by launchbox, or do I keep them in a separate folder under "MAME" that I created in the launch box folder (where I have the MAME emulator app stored)? Then I need to create a FOLDER for the chd, separately, or turn the chd into it's own zip file? Sorry, I'm WAY out of my depths, here. I thought this would simply be importing ROM files and selecting an emulator- which I believe I can handle, lol. This whole file formatting and creating additional folders- while ensuring I have the "right" MAME version with the "right" CHD/ROM is proving to be insurmountable for a layman like me. Thanks in advance for any direction! Best, James

Sorry to to revive this, but this noob is really having problems getting GT Complete running. I FINALLY found the CHD file but it seems I cannot find the BIOS (?) file for the life of me! Then, setting it all up is something else completely. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. I did get a couple of Genesis games going, so maybe there's hope for me yet. Thanks so much for this software and the help! Best, James
