Homesoft's Disk Images Atari Computers Launchbox
launchretrogirl2562 replied to Brandon Faust's topic in Emulation
Launchbox will not organize them for you if u just have a large set of images somewhere for multiple platforms. You need to put the images for each platform in its necessary own folders. So for instance you have clear logos for the Atari ST and Atari XEGS Then you need to put the logos in both separate directories : [DRIVE]:\Launchbox\Images\Atari ST\Clear Logo [DRIVE]:\Launchbox\Images\Atari XEGS:\Launchbox\Images\Atari ST\Clear Logo -
Adding non-steam or other launcher PC games.
launchretrogirl2562 replied to PedgeJameson's topic in Noobs
if they are all windows/PC-games then Add a Windows platform. (Cause I already have a Windows platform...for testing reasons I called mine WindowsTest) Then goto Tools -> Import -> Rom Files -> Single Platform Then in the next screen click on 'Add Files' In Windows Explorer go to the main folder which holds all your games. Lets say it's D:\Launchbox\Games\Windows In Windows explorer in the search box type *.exe This gives you all the executables. Now you can browse through the list of all executables and just CTRL and Leftclick and select each exe you want to add to your list of imports. When you finished CTRL and leftclicking and selecting all exes...just click on 'Open' In the next screens just click next till it shows you the screen of files to Import. Keep clicking next. For Platform choose 'Windows' For Emulator -> Leave that blank cause an exe doesn't need an emulator to run Keep click next till you get to the screen where it asks where to move or copy. You can just leave the games where they are so choose the last option. In the next screen where it asks to specify custom options I always select the following Force importing duplicate games and 'Use folder names instead of Rom Files' Click next...and now u will arrive at the 'Ready to Import' screen. Cause in the earlier screen u selected 'Use folder names' it will take the name of the folder where the exe was in as the name of the game. This mostly works without u having the need to make any corrections, but sometimes a game will be another folder deeper. Like for instance in my example 'Zombie Driver'...which is in a deeper folder. For those cases you need to manually change the name of the game from where it says now 'bin',...to the actual name of the game. So put your mouse over that title field, click it and change the name of the game And thats it. CLICK ON FINISH....and you are good to go -

good to see it works! Game onβΊοΈ -
this is so by design. Everyone who downloads MAME has a MAME install directory WITHOUT a mame.ini and WITHOUT a UI.ini As these files are user specific and are only initialized when a user runs mame and configures mame. Running mame and configuring it requires everyone to go to the general settings and system settings. Else how would users be able to configure their controls, their own video settings, etc etc Just make a shortcut to mame.exe on your desktop so it's there whenever u want to make any general changes in mame.
-
Once in a game, any changes u make will get saved automatically : if u make changes to the controls it will be written to a config file (cfg file) if u make any changes to the video options or others...it will get saved to a custom game specific ini file. Sorry if that was not clear. In a game...u cannot go to general settings. And running mame standalone U can. Every game uses the settings u made in mame.ini And if u want to have custom settings for specific games...u need to change them 'ingame' by hitting the TAB key when a game is running. MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) uses configuration files, typically named mame.ini, to store settings for the emulator and its games. Game-specific settings can be configured using separate .ini files placed in the ini folder within the MAME directory. When a game is launched, MAME first loads the general mame.ini and then any game-specific *.ini files, overriding the global settings with the game's specific configurations
-
when you are in a game, u create an ini for that individual game. (the ini file will have the nameofthegame.ini) when u just run the standalone mame.exe from the mame folder and configure settings...u create a mame.ini for ALL games to use. For your case, u thus should always run mame.exe standalone if you want it to create the mame.ini and UI.ini Later u can customize individual games by running a game, and pressing tab.

No, it isn't really necessary to remove all other rows. If u don't use them they won't really bother you. If Genesis however is the only platform you EVER plan to use RetroArch with...then by all means remove all the other ones. Cause if you leave them, they will be shown in all those other platforms you have configured in your screenshot above when you right click a game...in the 'Launch With...' popup window. (They will however never use retroarch to start the game, cause they aren't the default emulator for those platforms. ) Nice u got it sorted out. Glad to have been of helpβΊοΈ

possible to add same game to different playforms?
launchretrogirl2562 replied to d8thstar's topic in Noobs
Ofcourse that is possible. Just have one platform called Arcade which holds ALL arcade games. Configure it with mame emulator. Then add other platforms like model 3 And when importing games for the model 3, just point to and select all individual model3 zips and import them into your other platform. Is that what u mean? -
The K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and tools that enable Windows computers to play a wide variety of audio and video file formats. It's designed to provide a user-friendly way to ensure your system can handle virtually any media file you encounter. From the screenshot, u can see that VLC natively can play webm files, but if windows media player cannot...then you are missing the necessary codecs for it. Normally, when u update Launchbox, it will ask u if u want to install the K-Lite codec pack. https://codecguide.com/

Default theme RetroAchievement Badge?
launchretrogirl2562 replied to Omifi's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Then this should do the trick. DiscoveryPageView.xaml I've made the changes C-beats suggested in the DiscoveryPageView.xaml So make a backup from the whole 'DEFAULT' theme folder which is in following location : [DRIVE]:\Launchbox\Themes\Default Give the whole backup-folder a new name, like for instance 'DefaultAchievements' Then use my DiscoveryPageView.xaml and put it in the new DefaultAchievements themes views folder [DRIVE]:\Launchbox\Themes\DefaultAchievements\Views @Omifi : Let me know if you can see the achievements badge -

@seaview59 Can I ask. How do u make all these perfect looking clear logo's from mostly just a low-res front image or poster?

which format do these steam videos have? Like mkv, wmv, mpeg,...? sounds like you are missing some codecs. Did u install the K-lite codec pack when u installed Launchbox?
