All for an alternative to emumovies (which I cancelled my subscription to when I discovered they did an auto-rebill on my PayPal account without authorization). I had some success with transferring a large amount of media from my old hyperspin setup but still could use a few more videos snaps. I downloaded the excellent C64 Dreams collection and have a good number of C64 movies for my premium LB config, but a lot of those "movies" are just slideshows. But always great to find new ways to scrape and scrounge for those emu movies so thanks OP.

c64 C64 Dreams (massive curated C64 collection)

Great work on the final release of 0.45! You'll be happy to know (perhaps not as happy as I am about it) that with this new version my problem with exiting games using the controller buttons causing unstable behavior on my desktop using DS4Windows went away. I really wanted this too because I have an overwhelming preference for my DS4 controller over the Xbox 360/xbone pad. So thanks for whatever you did or didn't do in 0.45 final that solved the issue hehe -

Thanks for the info but I spoke too soon about older versions of Retroarch solving my woes. I've been using a Notepad++ text file on my desktop for quick & dirty testing of this stability problem. Usually all I have to do is click on the text file and some other program will open instead. But it's not a reliable test as i've discovered. System is still unstable if i use C64 dreams with DS4Windows then exit no matter what. I don't want to use SCP instead because DS4Windows has many additional and refined features I've gotten used to over the years. But like I said earlier, this isn't a problem with you or C64 Dreams. The vast majority of people enjoying C64 Dreams use an Xbox controller with no need for emulation and experience no issues, and I can always just switch over to my Xbox controller if I want to enjoy some good old C64 goodness in your package. One slightly odd issue I am experiencing with my xbone controller, however, is that I can't open the retroarch console in-game using the Back + Guide button but it works fine with the DS4 controller under DS4Windows. Go figure. -

Well, this is interesting. I copied an old version of retroarch & its required DLLs (v1.7.6) which I use for my Hyperspin collection and replaced the updated version in C64 Dreams and left all the config files. Still using DS4Windows and my DS4 controller, the issue went away, and now I get the message in retroarch when I launch a game that an xbox controller is properly configured. Everything seems to work correctly except I'm missing the CRT-EasyMode filter which is no bigger since I can just reconfigure it . Is there anything in C64 Dreams that requires an updated retroarch? The manuals and disk swapping work as they should, which is very important to me. -

I just discovered that my issue with my keyboard going bonkers after running C64 Dreams is possibly related to the 360 controller emulation I use for my DS4 controller. I use DS4Windows to emulate an Xbox 360/xbone controller. Normally, it works flawlessly, especially after i started using an app called HidHide that allowed me to run my DS4 controller in exclusive mode. However, C64 Dreams & retroarch will not see my DS4 controller as a true Xbox 360/Xbone controller even with DS4Windows so I get the message at the beginning of any C64 game I run: "Xbox controller not properly configured, using fallback" or something like that. It seems to work fine as an Xbox controller when in actual usage with a C64 game though, but as soon as I exit C64 Dreams, the system keyboard and mouse clicking instability starts and I have to log-off my windows user account then back on again to get things back to normal. I tested C64 Dreams with a real xbox controller and had no issues, and got the retroarch msg "Xbox controller is properly configured." So it's weirdness with my Xbox controller emulation and retroarch going on here, I think. Unless someone here that also uses DS4Windows with C64 Dreams has a fix for this, I may just need to use my authentic Xbox One controller to avoid troubles. I much prefer the ergonomics and extra re-mapping abilities of the DS4 controller but if I have to use an Xbone controller for C64 Dreams I will. -

It turns out the issue was hardware related. I had installed C64 Dreams to one of my USB 3.0 Ext drives and I was also downloading to it at the same time. External USB drive bottlenecks have always had strange effects on my system, causing massive OS instability. I now have C64 Dreams on one of my SSDs in a place of honor. Question: how do I bring up the retroarch menu while in-game? I want to customize a couple of things like volume levels and C64 color palettes; strictly for my own use, of course -

Wow, so happy to see 2 of my favorite ports for the C64 - Starflight and Dragon Wars - included in v0.45 so thanks for that. Now literally every game I ever enjoyed on my C64 has been collected into one frontend/emu experience. However, the test build causes massive system instability for some reason on my Windows 10 box. I play around with a game in v0.45 using my Xbox-emulated DS4Windows DS4 controller (very nice that we can use a pre-configured xinput pad in this, btw) and after I return to my desktop, my keyboard no longer works reliably and goes wonky, and sometimes I can't mouse-click and switch browser tabs. I didn't have this issue in v0.35. Could it be some autohotkey script that forgets to unload when I exit C64 Dreams, I wonder? -
The eagle has landed! It works with 11.4 ? Kudos to both you & @JoeViking245 It's a shame that there isn't a YT-like service catering strictly to older DOS era games since I only get about 20% success rate when scraping for MS-DOS games (was intending to use it with eXoDOS to get those missing video snaps) but your plugin does exactly what it's suppose to do and is excellent with newer games. I won't use emu movies anymore since they renewed my subscription without authorization so this is a handy little utility Thx, guys ?

Yes, that would be great if you could make it more compatible with older builds because I tend to stick with older versions of any software for a long time if I find it runs stable and has the features I like before i'm forced to upgrade (the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing). But if it's too difficult or too risky to do and there's not enough demand for it I can see that point of view I suppose. I was just very frustrated because I couldn't get certain scrapers working for months now (though the documentation said they were supported with my versions) because I had an older build of LB - but not that much older, imo - and i'm sure others who tend not to upgrade software they're comfortable with like myself (Windows build 2004 was my most memorable negative experience lol) will discover those same frustrations and issues no doubt.

Nope. Get nothing related to this scraper upon right-click. As mentioned earlier, the Steam Scraper shows up on fine on my system (Windows 10 build 1909) so I know at least some plugins can work. Launchbox version is 11.4. Tested various games, using the Windows platform & ExoDOS. I even tried it on two separate installations of LB (both 11.4) and it just won't show up, neither this nor the newest youtube scraper. Oh well.
-
Doesn't work for me. I'm using Launchbox 11.4 (premium). I've extracted both Vidsnap_Scraper.dll and youtube-dl.exe into the folder "Vidsnap Scraper" in \plugins and no joy. The latest youtube scraper (0.1.9.1?) doesn't work for me either but an old beta does. However, the Steam Scraper from this forum works perfectly. Any ideas?

What an awesome project! The Commodore 64 was my very favorite computer growing up. Even today with my Intel i7 and Nvidia-based system it just doesn't capture the nostalgia I felt for my C64 (which I found in a closet, along with a 1541 disk drive, in a half-way house in 1988 haha). -
Using the LB desktop UI, sometimes certain gameplay screenshots won't display even though they're in the exact same resolution and format (1920X1080, jpg) as the others that do. Legend of Grimrock, for example. None of the screenshots show up in Game details though they're all present in the correct Images folder. I even tried adding them manually and they won't display. What could be the issue? Also, sometimes it takes forever for some jpgs screenshot images to load in Details, causing scrolling to freeze for several seconds. What causes images to act so wonky in LB? I'm using 11.4.
-
Sorry if this is 101 but when I double click on the movie in the game details pane, by default it opens VLC in full screen. I have to then double click to open it in a window. Is it possible to open it in a window by default? I'm using LB 11.4.
-
Can someone test this for me? I noticed it will even lose focus and snap back to the LB main desktop interface if I just open a screen shot after double-clicking it the Game Details panel and do nothing. Sometimes it happens within a few seconds or up to a minute. It can't be the mouse or keyboard causing it since just leaving a screenshot opened in LB's internal viewer in fullscreen can cause it. I really want to know if it's a problem with my Windows 10 installation or LB itself so I can stop chasing my tail. Edited to add: I found the culprit. It was a little app I started using a couple of weeks ago called Caffeine. When enabled, It temporarily prevents the screen/screen saver/display/ from turning on/off when enabled by automatically pressing a key every minute or so. So it wasn't a LB issue after all.
-
Not a big deal but annoying. With all builds since at least 11.4. using the desktop LB whenever I go through the fullscreen screenshots with the mousewheel it randomly returns to the main LB GUI (desktop interface) instead of staying in the screenshots. It doesn't matter which theme I use (Default or old theme). Anyone else have this issue? Edited to add: just wanted to mention that it happens with keyboard cursor/page up cursor/page down shortcuts too so not just a mouse wheel issue. Something from the desktop GUI randomly steals focus when flipping through screenshots.

Making text appear under front box art in new versions. How?
JoJoJuJu59 replied to JoJoJuJu59's topic in Noobs
Aww, that's too bad about the Search bar no longer being able to be visible at the top in later builds. It was very convenient and I didn't have to enable the Side Bar to search. But at least I'll be able to get the game title text under the box art instead of within again so thanks for that -
Trying to get my later build of Launchbox's main desktop GUI to look like older versions with text under the box cover art rather than inside and also the Search bar field present at the top, like this: Is this possible? What are the settings? Right now, the game text title is located inside at the bottom of the front cover art, like this: Thanks for any help.

Alas, yeah, it doesn't remember the Last Played game when I close then reopen BigBox for the next session. In the non-BigBox LB program it does though, but not in BigBox.
-
I'm using the City Hunter 2 BigBox theme. When I run first run BigBox, the games are listed alphabetically during startup, How can I arrange them to be Last Played during start up?

Is is possible to edit the "No Games Selected" details screen?
JoJoJuJu59 replied to JoJoJuJu59's topic in Noobs
Great! What's the easiest way to do that? Is there a special LB theme editor program? I'm a newbie to this just in case you didn't notice
