    Thing is though that 99% of VR games are Windows, there are very few Quest only games. Could always just add create a VR platform that scrapes as windows, and then with those handful of your games that are Android exclusive add a Quest badge so you can easily see them in the UI?

    Like I said before, the huge advantage of adding the platform to the database is the possibility of seeing on any device via the web browser what kind of games we own on which device.

    I'm adding some VR games just now too. What should the platform be called? Many games are cross-platform (HTC Vive, Oculus, etc) and so Meta Quest would seem too narrow a platform name?

    I think as other people did to the Microsoft Windows platform unless they are PS4 or Meta Quest exclusive.

  3. BigBox PlatformCategoryPlaylist Selector

    View File

    A plugin for BigBox that makes it possible to have a playlist/platform carousel inside any game view/theme via simple .xaml edit of any game view. With this plugin you no longer have to leave the game view as you can select every playlist/platform from there!

    Installation:

    Globally: Put the BigBoxPCPSelector.dll file into Launchbox/Plugins folder.

    Per Theme: Put the BigBoxPCPSelector.dll file into Theme's Plugin folder.

    Theme's Game View files: Edit WallView/TextGame/HorizontalGame View's files by adding the plugin to the user control

    <UserControl Name="Canvas" ClipToBounds="True" xmlns:PD="clr-namespace:BigBoxPCPSelector.View;assembly=BigBoxPCPSelector" .... />

    and after that add the Platform Selector somwhere between the <Canvas> tags as below. These are currently the values you have to give the plugin to work. (Stuff like Position adjustment will be added soon)

    <PD:PlatformSelector Panel.ZIndex="900"
                ItemFontSize="20"
                ItemFontWeight="Normal"
                ItemForegroundBrush="White"
                ItemBackgroundBrush="Transparent"
                SelectedFontSize="30"
                SelectedFontWeight="ExtraBold"
                SelectedForegroundBrush="Black"
                SelectedBackgroundBrush="Transparent"/>

    Controls:

    Esc: Activate Plugin Wheel

    Left/Right: Move carousel index

    Up: Switch between playlists and platforms

    Down: Deactivate Plugin Wheel

    Esc 2x: Escape Menu like default

    Enter: Confirm Playlist/Platform selection

    Contribute:

    Feel free to improve the plugin at https://github.com/Benuno/BigBoxPCPSelector! Any support is appreciated :).

    Thanks to @Fry for the help/initial code structure!

  4. Another question I have - why can't additional apps have custom command line parameters when set as a ROM? Because as LaunchBox allows any main ROM entry to have a custom parameter why not for additional ROMs also?

  5. New release guys! The plugin wheel is already usable but not fully matching visually the original mockup - feel free try it out and tell us pls if you have any issues with it.

    Controls: Press Escape ones to activate, left/right to control carousel, enter for confirmation, another escape press to exit current view like normal behaviour

    If you want to use the wheel with any other theme, copy the "BigBoxPCPSelector.dll" file from the scala's theme plugins folder into the launchbox/plugins folder and go into any theme's game view .xamls files and paste:

    "xmlns:PD="clr-namespace:BigBoxPCPSelector.View;assembly=BigBoxPCPSelector" into the 'UserControl' tag.

    <PD:PlatformSelector Panel.ZIndex="90000"></PD:PlatformSelector> between the 'Canvas' open and end tags.

    Does this issue happen in other themes as well?

    Yep with any theme - for example also with the stark/slipstream theme. Really strange as the right and up/down keys work correct.

    Bigbox does it like this roughly speaking:

     - max row number is 6 for example, last row of games is 4

    - If you start in last row and press left he will jump to the 4th game in the upper row, after that it will move left until 6th game in the row above.

    I think Bigbox calculates the position for the upper row wrong - instead of using the max number for game walls with more than max grid width entries it uses the current row count.

    More of a general question but has anyone been able to get the Steam overlay working on Genshin Impact?

    Things I've tried:

    • Importing GI exe into launchbox and launching with Steamlauncher enabled
    • Importing GI exe into Steam as a non-steam game and launching.
    • The above two methods while running Steam as an Administrator

    The overlay just stubbornly refuses to show up.

    Relevant details:

    • I'm running in 4k windowed mode as GI doesn't let me run full screen.
    • I downloaded the game from the website, not EPIC
    • Every time I run the game I get that annoying Windows warning "Do you want to let this app make changes to this device?" (Can't make it stop, and wondering if this is somehow interfering with the overlay.)

    Any advice appreciated!

    Works for me (never played it), chose the launcher.exe, runs borderless windowed. Maybe try setting everything with admin rights as I mentioned above (also launchbox.exe, bigbox.exe, launcher.exe), disable uac prompts :? Otherwise idk it should work for you, too. I also use a 4K HDR screen btw.

  8. Hi guys, @Fry was so nice to make us a simple carousel view plugin for BigBox which makes it possible to see and select another platform/playlist inside a game view like in the original concept art from @Zazamastro!

    Currently I adjusted it so you press the Escape button to activate the wheel, select the platform with left/right and press enter to confirm - like in any other platform/playlist menu. Also the plugin knows which playlist/platform you've entered so the wheel shows the current position correctly. As the refresh/redrawing is a bit buggy (my refresh code is not correct most likely) no release until that is fixed (below you see the wheel randomly won't redraw itself during selection).

    If anyone has some knowledge concernig xaml wpf (animated) carousel views - please help us if possible :)! I would like to make this plugin later adjustable inside any view .xaml so everyone can use it with any theme without having to adjust the plugin's code.

    Not really related to your comment, but I wanted to point out Glosc is being replaced by Glossi. Currently in Alpha but it works for me.

    I already did those, called xbox-launcher-new.exe. Had to change the .bat as it uses .json files now. You can make your own exe files with Bat To Exe converter btw using those uploaded .bat files. Set the .exe there to use admin rights, 64-bit and hidden for same settings.

    Edit: If someone is interested I might also upload some emulator batches there as examples how to be able to launch games independent of drive letters and main (rom) paths. Like for example my batches search inside "Roms" and "Roms-Cloud" folders on any (smb) drive for any subfolders matching with the file title and search with all emulator compatible rom file-endings. (For example your laptop has a compressed cso to save space but your main pc has the full iso - no need for changing the entries). For Teknoparrot e.g. i edit the xml profile with the current rom path before execution etc..

  10. No Problem! @Lahma the only important request I have currently is excluding any emulator/game entry from SteamLauncher. I can't use Teknoparrot (https://teknoparrot.com/) without writing any plugin myself/manually disabling your SteamLauncher.

    Teknoparrot is a Windows Arcade Game Launcher which injects the Steam Overlay via Spacewar AppID to allow online multiplayer via Steam. When launching it via SteamLauncher Teknoparrot crashes as it is unable to inject Steam. Would be great if I could exclude that emulator/game entry from SteamLauncher specifically as the LaunchBox platform "Arcade" also includes MAME etc emulators/games which work fine with SteamLauncher.

  11. Here are the files for everyone (including a simple readme.txt file for instructions). Set those .exe as emulator launchers for each game of that particular pc store source. Then you should always have the Steam Overlay in-game with any of those launcher urls. Only for xbox apps you need to install glosc, as the batch does a game launch via glosc.

     If formatted correctly (start "" "com.epicgames.launcher://XXXXXXXX"), you'll be able to get Steam to launch the game but no matter how hard you try, you won't ever get a working Steam overlay because it is literally impossible for Steam to know what executable it is supposed to inject its overlay into.

    This can be fixed - see @51mm5  as evidence. Just kill the launcher .exes (no need for install paths as names are enough) before executing those urls via start command with admin rights and you always get steam overlay inside epic,origin,uplay,amazon store games. Steam cant inject the overlay if any launcher software is already running as it injects during .exe start.

    Then the overlay is injected into the launcher windows and game window. (Will upload files when I am home for everyone). I for example have issues with exe paths just not having the steam overlay depending on the launcher/game.

  13. So this release should fix the strange game wheel fade bug finally for anyone who had it too like me (still don't know the cause of it :S).

    Also added another Game Wall option with covers fading away , edited the TextFilterView slightly to also have game number/console year, added @faeran's nice star rating from his CoverBox theme and fixed the bad badges placement - which is now finally horizontally stacked. Custom badges are immediately noticeable as they are displayed with darker gray.

    If there are any bugs/layout inconsistencies/performance issues please tell us - I would like to have a good running/bug free version before we continue adjusting the layouts.

    You can always Add a game manually or edit a game you already have, and set the Platform to Meta Quest (or whatever you'd like to call it.

    It should add it to your Platform and Platform Categories area. You can then Edit the Platform and make any changes to it you'd like.

    Ah I see, my bad - should have posted the request inside the "Contributions" section as linked on https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/add  . Should I repost it there? I really want the platform to be available on the Online Game Database, not locally - so everyone can track those games on any web browser/sync with the cloud.

    With Meta Quest I mean the oculus quest ecosystem which got renamed from meta/facebook https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculus_Quest

    If I remember correctly, I do believe I gave 2 different solutions. If there are any specific questions regarding either of them, can always reply to the PM and I'll be glad to help.

    Yes, thanks a lot for the information! I am currently a bit too busy to continue having a look at it - my first attempts at drawing the platform wheel in other pages failed and I currently don't know/understand from the documentation.pdf (did not read that before) alone how that can be made possible.

  16. Could someone please add Meta Quest as a platform (like the Nintendo Virtual Boy)?

    I am using the launchbox game database collection online to track my physical/digital games on consoles, therefore I would be thankful if someone could add the VR Headset family to the console list as there are  some exclusive titles (I would add the titles to the database myself).

    I don't believe I've updated anything, but it appears CemU has stopped working with SteamLauncher. Games launch appearing normal, but Steam stays in "Desktop Mode" and the Steam overlay doesn't come up when pressing the guide button. This is only with CemU and not any other emulator I tried.

    CemU works fine if launching CemU directly from Steam (as a 3rd party program) but not an individual game launched from Launchbox with this plugin. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

    EDIT: The problem goes away if CemU uses OpenGL instead of Vulkan. But performance with OpenGL is no bueno.

    Try setting all the .exes like steam/steamlauncher/cemu to start with admin rights (i saw this comment randomly, so idk if this might help you)
