  1. Wow, great to hear! I'd love to test it for you. My current setup of LaunchBox and RetroArch is "trial and error", as I experiment and learn optimal settings. So testing out a new theme wouldn't be a big deal. I'm visiting the forum almost daily, so I'll definitely see your personal message. Look forward to it!
  2. I can totally wait for your new project. I've just started using LaunchBox and RetroArch, and I have lots of other "growing pains" to deal with. So your current theme (without playlists etc.) can easily tide me over for a long time. And I greatly appreciate you preserving the "wood" as an alternate look in your new project. I love the fun and child-like aesthetic your current theme has - and I think the wood and carpeting greatly contributes to that!
  3. I'm a noob and am using your theme to setup LaunchBox/BigBox for the first time. One thing I just realized was that each console has hundreds or thousands of games...which can be visually overwhelming. By default, the WoodPanels installation displays the platform (with console graphics) - and then the full games listing (with television sets/cartridge graphics). But I'd also like some way to display "short-listed" games (for example...sports, wrestling, racing, and general favorites). I'm currently researching playlists and platform categories in LaunchBox. But I'm not sure...is the WoodPanels theme actually compatible with these kinds of customizations? I can imagine potential problems such as: - If a "short-list" has games from different platforms...will they be displayed properly in a single listing? - If a playlist is added to the startup platform view...how can I set the icon/graphic? I'm hoping @BMovieBen can point me in the right direction - or offer his best method of displaying such "short lists" in the WoodPanels theme. Again, I'm a noob and forgive me if I'm missing something obvious! ======= EDIT 1 - UPDATE AFTER TESTING PLAYLIST IN WOODTHEMES: I just tested creating a playlist with an N64 game. I checked the option to "include this playlist with platforms". The playlist appeared when the WoodPanels theme loaded, alongside the console wheel. The problem is that when I enter the playlist, the television displayed is the one associated with NES - and the video preview does not work. So I guess this means playlists are not easily compatible with WoodPanels?
  4. I'm about to organize these games into proper folders for LaunchBox import...but am confused. On the GameTechWiki, the article seems to treat them as a single console. But when I look at the games, they're radically different in size. The "16" ones are very small files, while the "CD" ones are larger in size. Plus they seem to have different titles. So how would LaunchBox treat them? As a single console - or two different ones?
"WoodPanels" is the only theme I've seen that conveys that childhood feel of playing "retro" video game consoles! All the other themes I've seen are taking the slick and often futuristic Kodi "Media Center' aesthetic...and trying to shoehorn in "retro" console graphics. No matter how good they look...those other themes never evoke any real emotions - and often feel like a contradiction. But with "WoodPanels", it feels like you're back in an innocent world...sitting down and staring in awe at all these great potential video game adventures! I especially love how the theme just displays everything realistically - but in a sort of fun aesthetic. As you preview each game...you see the game cartridge with the actual marketing of the game. You see the preview of the game on TV's from the appropriate era of the console. I also love that the author @BMovieBen instructed us on how to modify/swap the wooden wall graphic. Can you imagine the editing/remix possibilities? I have so many childhood photographs with me, family, and friends...sitting around these consoles. I'm thinking of PhotoShopping them in as framed pictures on the wooden wall! And as the little kids in my family have fun with these consoles...we can add their pictures to the wall as well! So much thanks and love to the author of this theme! It's so unique and poignant!
  5. After much research this morning, I've learned a few things. I edited the topic with the correct terminology: "infinite scrolling". I think Kodi also has such a feature, and it can be disabled easily via their settings. Unfortunately, from my research on LaunchBox - it cannot be disabled via settings. The logic provided is that most users will have huge game libraries, so there's no motivation to accommodate other use-cases via a setting: However, if one were familiar with skin-editing, there seems to be a way to do it via coding. But it doesn't look to be a simple task...and probably requires some experimentation: As a noob, I think I will test out the advice in one of the comments linked above...and switch the views to avoid "clear logo" views that seem to come with this "infinite scrolling" feature.
  6. Currently there is not. Could be because my non-sensical triggering of the metadata screen for that game solved any underlying problem. But I will keep this tip in mind if I see the problem again. Thanks fo the tip!
  7. So I had to keep adding this game multiple times...and it would keep disappearing after restarts. But I've finally gotten it to stay...and I'm not why this worked. After adding the game, I right clicked it and pressed "Edit Metadata". I didn't really do anything on the pop-up, but after I pressed "OK" to close the window...it essentially solved the problem. Now the game does not disappear when closing LaunchBox or initiating Big Box. Just thought I'd mention for any fellow noob who has this problem.
  8. EDIT: In many themes, you see this kind of strange repeating display when you have a few items... In the image below, I only have two games for that particular console. But from the third slot, the theme starts to repeat the sequence: Obviously this was designed to aid users with large libraries. But there will be cases when you have a few games or consoles in a playlist...and having them needlessly repeat looks ugly and non-sensical. I tried looking into the theme settings, but can't identify any setting that can disable this behavior. Can someone tell me how to disable this?
  9. Hi sorry to keep bothering you guys, but I just noticed another weird buggy behavior. For some reason, one particular game disappears from LaunchBox every time I restart it - or launch Big Box. I scanned and added the following game ("PaperBoy"): A:\DataBase\Programs\-- Arcade --\[Games]\Nintendo Entertainment System\PaperBoy [NES-PY-USA]\PaperBoy [NES-PY-USA].nes It seems to be added normally. It's got all the images and metadata. But again, as soon as I exit LaunchBox and restart it - or launch Big Box...this particular game disappears from LaunchBox. Any possible reason this could be happening?
  10. Yes! It works now. New naming convention (where brackets are only used for the serial): Folder: ExciteBike [NES-EB-USA] File: ExciteBike [NES-EB-USA].nes Only noticed one glitch. And that was when I had named the game "PaperBoy" as "PaperBoy 1". The inclusion of "1" caused LaunchBox not to recognize the game properly. So after renaming that to remove the number, it was recognized and imported fully. I think you guys should mention this bracket issue/requirement in the import wizard text. Or maybe just allow the program to read text within brackets.
  11. The "Mario Golf" game file itself wasn't named twice. What you're seeing is the folder name - and then the file name. They are the same. Earlier, I had a different naming convention... Folder: [ExciteBike] [NES-EB-USA] [USA] File: ExciteBike (USA).nes Even that had a problem importing. But let me test your theory by removing all the brackets on the game file names. I'll report back in 10 minutes (thanks for the help, by the way)...
  12. I have the LaunchBox current version: 12.16 One of my theories is that maybe my folder/file naming convention might be causing problems with LaunchBox. Here's the format for all my games, regardless of console: A:\DataBase\Programs\-- Arcade --\[Games]\Nintendo Entertainment System\[ExciteBike] [NES-EB-USA] [USA]\[ExciteBike] [NES-EB-USA] [USA].nes Maybe the brackets or length of paths are causing problems?
  13. Okay, let me go over what I was doing. As I said before, I initiate the ROM import wizard: Tools > Import > ROM Files I point it to my games folder, and specifically the console folder for "Nintendo Entertainment System": A:\DataBase\Programs\-- Arcade --\[Games]\Nintendo Entertainment System Then I go through the wizard and check all my desired metadata options. No real problem here. I think the final "Ready to import" screen is what was causing my import problems. If you look at this image, the title fields are all empty: It was only after I started manually adding titles that the games started importing properly. So previously, I had problems with my "NES" content. To make sure it wasn't some one-off problem...I just repeated the process with my N64 content...and same thing again. As that screenshot above shows, the title fields are blank. Then when I press 'Finish', it does a quick scanning animation - but nothing imports. As with the past attempt with NES content...if I go back into the wizard and manually enter titles for this N64 games, then LaunchBox will properly import my games.
  14. Okay, I think I know what happened here. At the end of the import routine, I did not enter any titles for the games. I thought the wizard would do that automatically for me. Because the title fields were blank, it was not adding the games to LaunchBox. Once I manually entered titles, then it added the games. In the future, I hope the developers can add error messages to the program...so we know why the import failed. This took me a needlessly long time to figure out on my own.
  15. Thanks for the answers. But I think I have another major problem. The ROM import wizard (Tools > Import > ROM Files) is not importing my games. I go through the wizard and put in all the console and metadata preferences...but when it closes the wizard window and scans, nothing gets added to LaunchBox. There's no error message or anything. Part of that maybe that the scan goes so fast, I can't read what it's saying - then it just disappears without having added anything. Any way I can send a log or something to the staff?
  16. First time using LaunchBox premium. Hoping to import games properly so that I don't have to re-do the process later on. Got an initial problem and a question... ... PROBLEM: When I use the import wizard, it detects "HTML" files as games. This means I have to manually remove them from the list, which is very tedious and annoying. For example, the folder structure looks like this: "Arcade > Games > Nintendo Entertainment System > PaperBoy 1" Within that "PaperBoy 1" folder, I'll have the actual game (example "PaperBoy 1.nes") and an HTML file which is just a record of where I downloaded the game. But when I use the "Import ROMs" wizard, it detects those HTML files as games: IMAGE: https://i.ibb.co/Hd61544/Clipboard-Image-8.png I even tried putting those HTML files in sub-folders, but that doesn't prevent it from being detected either. I can't find any options in the settings to prevent this annoying behavior. .... QUESTION: Can I set LaunchBox to keep scraped metadata/resources/pictures/trailers etc. within the individual game's folder? Again, let me give you an example of my folder structure: "Arcade > Games > Nintendo Entertainment System > PaperBoy 1" When the import wizard scans for those media/metadata resources, I'd like them to be placed in a sub-folder in that game's folder. For example: "Arcade > Games > Nintendo Entertainment System > PaperBoy 1 > Resources"
