  1. When importing windows .lnk files or shortcuts, even though i choose the third option, Launchbox imports the links as if they have to use an emulator. Its a simple fix per game, Edit and then go to emulation and uncheck use an emulator.... But thought someone else might need to know.
  2. New PC, New HD, Clean install of windows 10 (running on I9, 32g ram and geforce rtx 3060) and same error..
  3. ive been doing some testing but still cant figure it out... however, i did notice that if you load launchbox and let it sit for about 5 mins, you dont get the error on imports. it may be that the update broke the way it reads the XML files, or slowed them down? Anyway, if i load and the try to import i get the same error, but if i just let it chill for about 5 mins while i get a cup of coffee... it works.. lol.. just thought i would share.
  4. nope... didnt fix the problem. =( An error occurred while trying to import games: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. still getting that popup.. no hard crash. just the warning window and then the import closes. btw.. got this error when i tried an import after a reboot. Imported 3 times, and on the third try it worked. importing mainly by drag and drop.
  5. Tried this and seems to be working. Never had this happen until the current update though. Will test more and let you know if i run into any more problems.
  6. i get this also... when i start up launchbox, the first few minutes, any rom i try to import for any system gives me this. Eventually, it will import (say after 4 or 5 mins) and then everything works perfectly until i shut it down and reload it.
  7. im getting the same error on import when i first start up launchbox. Something in the latest update broke something. Was thinking of re-installing but i have a ton of custom menus etc... would i lose everything and have to reimport it all? if i just install it again without reinstalling to correct any missing files.
  8. checked this... tried a fresh install on another pc and got the same result. Might be because im using the mame merged set so dunno. Anyway.. got manual import to work fine then i just right click and set emulator as mame.. works great.
  9. nah the names are right... timber.zip and i did a full import of all roms using the mame import feature. Found another one also... Super Pinball Action rom name is spbactn.zip This one it just left out ... did import when i did manually add it though
  10. Recently ran into a small bug in the mame import interface. Example. When importing Timber.zip into mame (my full set was missing this rom for some reason) it would not let me import the rom in any way with Mame selected as the emulator. Force import etc...nothing worked.. BUT i did find a work around. I imported the game with retroarch set as the emulator, went back and then hit edit and changed the emulation line to Mame and it works. I have ran into this with some other roms as well, all mame ones, but i cant remember which ones...so many ya know. Peace True
  11. LoL nah, but I'm glad it was a simple fix. 😄
  12. Woah..... Maybe that was it... Just double checked the auto hide settings and "Hide games without video was turned on" (I NEVER DID THIS) and when i checked it off, they started showing up. Maybe a new glitch? But TY btw 😃
  13. Never enabled autohide.... and there are no extra files in my platform folder.
  14. Hi guys, I am an avid user of Launchbox and i simply love how it looks and works (my second year as a license holder) but now i have run into a problem that is perplexing me and making me worry a little. I have all my game roms and things imported so i decided to set up a cartoon and comic book section. Last night when i was importing some of my favorite old TV shows, the first season of Ultraman, i noticed that when i import the shows, some of the ones i already have installed disappear in launchbox when i add a box front image (i used thumbnail.me for png thumbnails). Example... I import all 13 episodes. I place 13 thumbnails all names the same as the video in the images dir under launchbox. I hit refresh in launchbox, and they show up... but a random episode is now deleted or missing.... lets say episode 1 8 and 13. I go back, try to reimport the 1, 8, 13.... it says they are already there, but they dont show up... so i force import them... 1,,8,13 now sup up with the correct thumnails BUT a few more disappear.... Episode 2, 7, 10 for example. Any idea what is causing this or how to fix it? This bug has me worried as crap... i have around 60,000 roms, some platforms with hundreds and i have noticed that some games in my arcade mame section are missing... Pac-man for example.. i dont want to have to re-import items if its going to make others dissappear... -----update---- Tried this.... imported all 13 and forced them in. They all show up. The second i try and add them to a playlist (to keep things organized) a few of them disappear again. There is nothing wrong with my drive... and the files are still physically there, launchbox just doesnt show them even though they are imported (as i had to force import them to get them to show) ----------Second Update------ This is happening in other platforms as well... I just checked and watched some of my roms disappear from the list when i imported a new one. It is also happening in other playlists especially.... different platform, but same result. Import something... random items disappear, although launchbox says they are there and to get them back i have to force import duplicate, then something else disappears. i am running the latest update by the way. 13.15
  15. Thanks guys. That worked, after a little tinkering with the import settings and details. Have to say, ive used Launchbox/BigBox for about a year now and never had this happen, which honestly is amazing. Great Job on the frontend and thanks for the help 😃
  16. SInce the new mame 0.266 came out, i went and grabbed Jumbo godzilla, aka jumbogod.zip and figured i would test it out. I tried several different ways to import the game, dragging it in, import rom file etc, and because its an arcade rom, launchbox always brings up the mame full set import filter thing from when i imported my full set. (checkboxes etc for filtering out games not supported, unplayable in mame etc). I unchecked everything and even tried forcing duplicate import and every time i get 0 files imported. It just refuses to import the game at all. Anyone else having this problem or know any solutions?
  17. Ahhhhhh okay i see.... The faves end up at the top of the list in bigbox under the Star icon on the quick menu (moving left and right) Thanks 😃
  18. a little more clarification... In launchbox, it leaves the game in the list like you said, but in bigbox it is missing from the list. also where would the option you spoke of be located in the settings.
  19. Yeah i checked before posting. It removes the game completely from the list and the only place that the game now shows up is in the favorites section (which you have to change views to even see). Only realized this when i added a game and then was scrolling the main list and couldn't find it. I also made sure that the list i was trying this in was a main platform and that it didn't appear anywhere else. Secondly... let me say I just saw your reply on the old thread .. and I only started this one because I didn't think it would be an issue since my other post was just a reply. I didn't see the age of that post when I made my reply, just that they were having the same issue. I have never really ran into an issue with the software before that didn't have a simple workaround that I could figure out easily. My apologies. This was my first post also.... i think... I may have posted once about the program crashing when you add a game single (or that may have been a bug report i posted) but.... * Just for reference to what im speaking of .... what happens is if the interface is still loading images from a rom that was just added... it will crash if you open the edit game box or try to add another rom before the box that says "launchbox downloaded blah media files" that pops up in the bottom right of the screen fades while you have the edit game or add rom window up. It still happens and hasn't been fixed. If you wait until the box that pops up on the bottom right corner fades before editing another game or adding a new rom, it works properly. Guessing it has something to do with the windows closing code. For me, when it happens i cant do anything else in the program and have to open task manager and end task. anyway.... Never really had a problem with launchbox/bigbox but I am really curious about this. So is there a way to have a visible Favorites for each platform, maybe listed at the top when you select that system, yet still have the game listed in the main list as well like so it can be seen while scrolling the list. I know you said it should be leaving the game visible, but it does remove it, for me at least. Thanks in advance.
  20. As the topic says, when i favorite a game (any platform) it removes the game from the main list, like placing it into its own platform list and not as you would think,,,, simply adding it to a playlist and leaving it in the main list also just as adding games to a playlist does.... I mean, it might just be me... but when i favorite a game, i would think that this would be what would happen, yet when i do fav one.. it completely removes it from the main list.... doesn't really make sense as to why. Thoughts?
  21. i am having the same issue... Freaked me out but this post explained what is happening. Why remove games from the main list when you tag them as favorite since favorite is basically a quick way to find the ones you really like... The favorites list should at like a playlist and not a separate platform.. makes no sense to me at all. You would think that this would have been fixed as an issue by now.
