Hi Folks, It’s hard to believe, but LaunchBox is turning 12 years old next week! 🎉 We wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you — the amazing community that continues to support, share, and shape the journey with us. From jaw-dropping custom themes to thoughtful feature suggestions, it’s your passion that keeps this project thriving. 💛 Visit our event page below for full details on all the happenings throughout the week: 🔗 https://www.launchbox-app.com/celebrate/ To celebrate, we’re bringing you another community playlist challenge — and this one’s a classic hypothetical: If you could only take one game to a deserted island… what would it be? 🏝️🎮 There’s no right or wrong answer — but what game would you pick? (Remember, you only get to play that one game on this island. Nothing else!) Just let us know your choice. We’re looking for charm, humor, nostalgia, or even brutal honesty. (No judgment if it’s The Sims and you just want to build shacks and woohoo coconuts. 🌴) ℹ️ Here's How It Works: From Monday, August 26th to Sunday, August 31st, we want to hear your pick. Choose a single game, and post below, telling us why it’s your ultimate island companion By posting, you’ll be entered into a draw to win a Steam key for a game of your choice! 🔑✨ Once the event wraps, we'll be including the submissions into a Big Box Game Discovery playlist, so everyone can enjoy all the wonderful picks 🕹️ How Can I Enter? Once the event goes live, post one game in this thread that you’d bring to your deserted island, and explain why. 📝 Please limit your entry to a single post. ❓Does it matter if someone already submitted my game of choice? Not at all! Multiple people can submit the same game — we just want to hear your reason why. The more passion the better! 🔄 How Will Winners Be Selected? We’ll pick a few posts from all unique entries submitted during the event. The winners will be contacted via direct message on the forum. 💬 Can I Post More Than Once? Feel free to chat or comment on other people’s picks, but only your first post with your game submission counts as an entry. Submitting multiple games won’t improve your odds, so keep it to one! We can’t wait to see what games you all pick — whether it’s a 100-hour RPG, a cozy farming sim, or a chaotic party game. Let’s build the ultimate Desert Island Playlist together! 🏝️🕹️ Happy Gaming, The LaunchBox Team

AstroBob replied to RVS67's topic in Troubleshooting

No worries, we recently published a short guide to help troubleshoot this. Let us know how you get on: - https://feedback.launchbox.gg/en/help/articles/0083719-double-inputs-when-navigating-big-box-with-a-controller
-
All progress badges should display on both the games detail page and in certain views Can't guarantee how it make work for other themes that aren't the default, though let us know if you aren't seeing it and we'll see if we can identify why

We have a recent tutorial that runs through how to setup this integration.

Hi there, The new Game Progress Tracking feature replaces the Completed checkbox found in LaunchBox versions before 13.22. When upgrading to version 13.22 or later, all games previously marked as Completed will be automatically migrated to the new Game Progress system using the Done / Mastered status. This new status overrides any automatic progress rules. Additionally, the Unplayed badge is now fully integrated into the Game Progress system and no longer appears as a separate option in the Badge menu. The old completed tag will also still exist in the xml metadata files if you really need it. If for whatever your progress data has not migrated correctly, please see the post below with a plug you can use it grab the old tags from the metadata file. Let us know how you get on

RetroAchievements are not displayed after upgrading to 13.22
AstroBob replied to Floatzel's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Folks, just to update you this has now been addressed in 13.23 beta-1. You can either update to the beta or it will be rolled out as part of the next official 13.23 release. Thanks for bearing with us there while we got this addressed. -
Hi there, Are you running Steam at the same time as Big Box. We've seen scenario's where Steam applies a Desktop mapping to controllers by default, which it's steams own way of trying to navigate interfaces with a controller. Any easy way to test this is close down steam, if Big Box returns to single inputs then you know that's your issue. Desktop controller profiles can be removed on Steam Let me know how you get on Cheers,

How to remove the Completed image from the old default theme in Big Box?

Hi Folks, This is a fantastic idea — it’s actually something we considered internally, but it didn’t quite make the cut for the first phase. That said, we’re totally open to something like this, and I personally think it’s a great idea to expand the types of rules we support. As you correctly mentioned, setting something to “paused” is a manual action, and taking it out of “paused” is also manual. We have a feature request that outlines this idea, which I’ve attached below. It would be great if you could add your support and share any additional use cases you think might be valuable. 🔗 https://feedback.launchbox.gg/p/rule-based-auto-pause-for-inactive-games Make sure to follow along there so we can keep you updated on any progress

RetroAchievements are not displayed after upgrading to 13.22
AstroBob replied to Floatzel's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Folks, are you using the list view or image view within LaunchBox. There's a known issue right now in 13.22 where RetroAchievements are not showing in List Views within LaunchBox. If this is what you're seeing, check that to see if the same happens in Image View. We're working on a fix for this for the next version ,so we should have this fixed up soon. -

How to remove the Completed image from the old default theme in Big Box?
AstroBob replied to RVS67's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi there, Thanks for providing the details! We’ve identified an issue with the Old Default theme and its compatibility with version 13.22. In short, it wasn’t properly updated to support the new progression markers, so it defaults to showing all games as completed — even though your actual data is correct. I’m attaching the issue report here. Please upvote it to follow along and get notified once it’s been fixed. In the meantime, the best workaround is to use a different theme or wait for the upcoming fix. Apologies for the issues there, regarding the changing view issue, can you confirm if that happens when using the current Default theme (not old default)? -
Avast flags 13.22 as FileRepMalware - all previous versions are fine
AstroBob replied to PerryCS's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi there, Thanks for flagging this! Occasionally, third-party antivirus programs like Avast can incorrectly flag new versions of LaunchBox as threats (a false positive). We can assure you the installer is safe as long as it was downloaded directly from our site or through the update process within our app. Officially, we're only able to recommend using Microsoft Defender, as it’s the only antivirus we consistently verify compatibility with. If you’re using Avast, you may need to add an exception manually. -
How to remove the Completed image from the old default theme in Big Box?
AstroBob replied to RVS67's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi there, That logo isn’t related to RetroAchievements. It’s likely that the game in question was previously marked as Completed, which is now represented as Done / Mastered in version 13.22. The theme you’re using probably displays games in that state with that logo. If you change the game’s progress state, does the logo disappear? -

Hi there, Thanks so much for the report there and apologies for the delayed follow-up. I can confirm this is indeed a bug on our end, and we'll scoped this out to get fixed. You can view the report here: https://feedback.launchbox.gg/p/default-collection-missing-from-add-to-collection-popup-on-games Feel free to follow that post so you can be notified once it gets fixed. Thanks again for letting us know about this. Cheers,

Yep, can confirm manuals can be viewed from a game's pause menu, both within LaunchBox or Big Box. While images themselves can't be viewed from the pause menu, if you add your additional PDFs as additional apps, then from within the pause menu you'll have an option for `additional documents`, which will let you view these in the same view you can view the manual.

5 New Platforms Just Landed in the LaunchBox Games Database! 🎉
AstroBob replied to AstroBob's topic in News and Updates
Agreed that it's nice to have the full suite of RetroAchievement's platforms now in the database, especially giving the exciting new RA improvements in 13.22. Regarding the names, apart from the Elektor TV Games Computer & Nintendo Switch 2, the other 3 are all fantasy consoles. In other words, homebrew projects without a dedicated development company like a Sony or Nintendo attached to them, so this is how they are generally referred to online and also on the RetroAchievements site. If you want to change the platform name, though, you can edit the platform's name within LaunchBox if you'd like to add some additional information to it. -
Hi Folks, We’ve just added five new platforms to the LaunchBox Games Database. Whether you’re building a modern collection or exploring homebrew gems, these platforms have been long overdue, with many more on the way: 🕹 Nintendo Switch 2 – Nintendo’s next-gen console is here, and we’re ready for it! Get a head start on organizing your Switch 2 library as the platform evolves. 🧩 WASM-4 – A WebAssembly-based fantasy console designed for tiny retro-style games. Perfect for devs and players who love creative limitations. 📺 Uzebox – An open-source 8-bit game console built around an AVR microcontroller. It’s a DIY dream for retro gaming enthusiasts. 🎮 Arduboy – A credit card-sized handheld with an open-source game library and a huge heart for minimalism and charm. 🧠 Elektor TV Games Computer – A blast from the past! This 1970s programmable system offered early glimpses of what home gaming could be. While the number of listed games for these platforms is low right now, we’re confident they’ll quickly fill out as the community begins submitting their entries. So get those entires in! 😊 With the addition of these platforms, the database now supports all currently supported platforms from RetroAchievements! We’ve got some exciting RetroAchievements updates coming in version 13.22—so now you can finally enjoy full support for all of these platforms in LaunchBox. Happy gaming! 🎮 — The LaunchBox Team

Hey folks — just a quick check-in from the mod team. We see things have gotten a bit sidetracked here — and a little more personal than they probably need to be. Because of this, we’ve cleaned up a few posts just to help keep the thread on track, but tried our best to keep the useful info intact. There’s been a lot of great info in this thread already, and we’d really like to keep it going. Sticking to the topic will help us do that, and we appreciate all the time, insight, and creativity that’s gone into this discussion. There’s clearly a lot of passion here, and that’s always great to see. Let’s all take a breath and keep it friendly. Healthy debates are totally fine — encouraged even — but if it starts feeling more like an argument than a discussion, it’s probably a good time to take a breather. Appreciate everyone keeping it cool and focused from here on out.
