Is it possible to take all role-playing games and have them listed as a platform so that I don't have to jump around between the views? I think that would be pretty awesome. Thanks

While not strictly Launchbox/Bigbox related, the issue is on my Bigbox PC. I recently rebuilt one of my desktops I used to use for virtualization into my new HTPC. It's been working great for a couple of weeks with KODI, Plex and LB/Bigbox. Tonight I moved it from the floor beside the TV to the cabinet next to it and now none of my usb devices (beyond a wired mouse) are being recognized. Even a generic keyboard is not working. In fact, there is no Keyboard section in Device Manager at all. So, my wireless kb, my wireless mouse, my Xbox 360 receiver, none of that is working. This machine is running Windows 7 ( I prefer it for htpc). I have tried removing usb root hubs and controller and rebooting. No change. Windows re-installs the same ones, but no keyboard, etc. I've been pouring over google and not really coming up with much. At this point, I would even re-install Windows, but I can't access the bios since I don't have a keyboard that bloody works. I thought I might put the question to this community. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone tried one of these? I saw one in Walmart earlier today. I think it will help my inability to get my wireless controller to exit an emu without freezing up. This will allow me to hit the escape key without needing my keyboard nearby. At least, I think it would. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/surge-surge-quicktype-textpad-keyboard-for-xbox-one-controllers-sg40003/10534752.aspx EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Just realized it is for xbox one controller, not xbox 360.

I've recently decided to give Bigbox + couch + Kodi another go. My htpc died recently so I moved a quiet desktop from my lab downstairs to fill the gap. It is not as small, but has more power ( Core i-7, 16GB of RAM, discrete gpu [Nvidia GT420], 256 GB SSD). I was going to just go with Plex running on an ESX vm, but decided I might as well have the best of both worlds. I will have a VM that just does Plex streaming to my Android devices when I'm travelling and go back to Kodi directly attached to my TV with local media drives backing up to a Qnap NAS. So far so good. I have my xbox 360 wireless controller working great in Kodi and Bigbox. I tried the current version of the Bigbox addon for Kodi and what an improvement! This never worked for me before and now it is super smooth and reliable, it seems. The only real annoyance left is that when I try to use the controller to exit and emu, the input hangs. Sometimes I have to alt tab around a bit to get focus back and sometimes I just have to hit esc on my wireless keyboard. I have tried hitting my mapping for exit ( hold start + back) one more time, but that never does anything. I always have to use the keyboard to get focus back. I can see game description text scrolling still, so it's not totally hung, but it won't take input from my controller or my keyboard when this happens. Any suggestions? thanks!

I wondered about that. Last night I noticed a BigBox icon in my plex interface on the PS4. But when I select it, nothing happens. Latency for arcade or 16 bit games might not be a big deal. That is pretty much all I play on BigBox anyway.

Thanks for the response. That is what I figured.

My HTPC died this weekend. It was also running Kodi, but I saw the demise coming and switched over to Plex using a server in my basement. All is good and I love the Internet based streaming and the ability to use my PS4 for both my media and Netflix (something XBMC/Kodi struggles with). However, I am now missing a BigBox option. Would it ever be possible to stream from a BigBox server to a PS4? That would be so sweet. I love keeping everything in one place. It makes life much simpler. And it would save me buying a new HTPC for BigBox. Thanks

Thanks, it launched fine now.

Title pretty much says it all. It just started today for the first time. Launchbox just hangs at populating games and goes not responding in task manager and eventually I have to kill the process. This is on a core-i7 Skylake, SSD, 32 GB of RAM machine. Any suggestions? Thanks

DDR 4/2133 32GB is overkill for most gamers, but I am a network engineer and I run network modelling software like Cisco VIRL and the more memory and cpu, the better for things like that and for virtualization in general. Here's a link to my new baby :) https://www.msi.com/Notebook/GT72S-6QE-Dominator-Pro-G.html#hero-overview On a side note, if anyone is in my neck of the woods and wants a good deal on a MSI GT70, I'll be selling one. I'd let it go for $1,000 CDN I can include the Windows 10 Pro CD Key if needed. Intel Corei7-3630QM 16 GB RAM Geforce GTX 660M 256 GB SSD RAID 0 ( 2 x 128GB msata) 750 GB 7200 RPM storage drive. 17 inch monitor..

Just tried this on my htpc and it worked much better. About 80% of the games pulled down box art, etc. For some reason, my laptop behaved differently. I don't care too much as I just ordered a new MSI GT72S Dominator Pro G :) Skylake proc, 32 GB RAM, GTX 980M 8GB, PCI-e RAID SSD (2x128GB), G-sync monitor... Should be fun to play with!

SentaiBrad said The Platform is MS-DOS and not GOG right? Not that it should matter if they're already linked to a Database entry... which is the strange part. I'll pass this on to Jason. If they're linked to a DB entry and not downloading images that's bad. The platform is MS-DOS, yes. I imported them and just pointed them to my GoG folder. That is just what I call the folder, since that is where I extract all my GoG purchases to. They imported fine, with details and descriptions and stuff, and they launch fine, but zero box art at all.
-
Hmmm, still no luck.
-
I don't believe so. I normally stay away from beta anything, but I will give that a try. thanks
-
Tried that, it still didn't find anything. Odd.. I am sure that I have downloaded better metadata for my GoG games in the past on earlier installs. Not sure why it is not finding anything today...
-
I just imported my GOG collection, but not box art was found for any games. The correct game was identified as the details and descriptions are correct, but no box art for any games, and only 3 games found a single snapshot. These are all MS-DOS RPGs from GoG. Stuff like Darklands, alll the gold box games, Menzobarranzan, Dark Sun, Arena, Daggerfall, Eye of the Beholder, etc. Is it not unusual that no box art was found for these classic games?

I think I was mistaken. It was the Atari 2600 Flashback that has wireless controllers. I saw the Atari, Colecovision and Intellivision products on the same day and checked out reviews for them later that evening. I must have confused the Atari with the Intellivision.
-
AtGames make a version of the pre-loaded Intellivision console that comes with wireless controllers. I wonder if those could be somehow tweaked to work with a PC?
-
I did a quick google and could not really find too much. Is there no option for an Intellivision type controller for PC? It would also have to be wireless. Otherwise, my collection of Intellivision roms are fun to look at and browse, but otherwise not really playable. I would love to play Baseball or Boxing with my wife on the couch, but I don't really see how that is possible? I did buy the AtGames Intellivsion console that you plug into your TV and it plays about 50 or so games. It's kind of junky, but sort of gets the job done.

Does anyone know of a leaner collection of Mame roms that can be used with Mame32gui? The one I obtained has like 1,500 or so roms. I did a massive scrape, including emumovie content, and it's great. Quite a few of them scraped with both snaps, movies, description, etc. But quite a few did not. It makes my LB screen look messy with all those squares with no image and, in some cases, no metadata at all. The vast majority of these, I'll probably not play. But the virtual museum aspect of it is pretty cool to browse. But for the, probably a couple of hundred, ones that did not scrape, they become a huge chore to remove afterwards. Is there a better way to do this? Perhaps find a smaller rom collection that does not have every obscure game ever made, or has fewer roms that are less likely to work or scrape? Thanks

I can certainly use my NAS to access the files. I could so via SMB ( Windows file sharing), or even iscsi (my Qnap supports iscsi). I was concerned about performance. I would rather load a large xml file and thousands of images and videos from local SSD, rather than a network drive.
-
I didn't even think to try it without using notepad++, actually. Sorry. I replaced ..\..\ with the new drive letter. It takes 5 seconds to do. Works great.
-
Seems to have worked like a charm. Thanks!
-
Sounds good. Will give it a try. I kept both folder structures the same, i.e. it is now F:\users\.. and F:\emulation as my two root folders involved. I will then just use N++ to replace "..\..\..\" with "F:"
-
That is what I thought as well, but N++ is coming up empty when I try to search for C:\ When I look inside the xml, I do not see the whole path. It is truncated with ... For example: ..\..\..\emulation\N64 Roms\Madden Football 64 (U) [!].z64 false
