The problem with forcing a single genre on import is that for many games it would be subjective opinion on what genre a game would belong to.

Ok, I am locking this thread now.
-
lol, glad you got it working
-
Do you have Playstation setup and working ? Or any other CD based system ?
-
Do your other cores work for their platforms ? Do your Sega Genesis games work ? What about Playstation ?
-
I just updated my tester install of LB and imported a Sega CD game (didn't have any imported before) and it works perfectly fine.
-
The problem in that thread was the person was telling LB to move / copy his imported files. This will move / copy the cue files but not the bin files. Are you telling Launchbox to move / copy your files on import by any chance ?
-
Yeah, ill let you know in a minute.
-
I haven't imported them recently but I have the latest LB and RA and Sega CD works perfectly for me, I don't have 3DO stuff anymore to test it.
-
If they are working in RA they work in LB as well.
Your settings look right so there has to be something weird going on.
-
Most of the stuff should be ported over to Slang anyways though some hasn't because there is no good way to convert them since they rely on certain specific to CG code.
CG is being phased out and has been for a while, the shift is on to Slang now because it will be much more cross platform compatible.
-
Nope they don't. The new Direct 11 and 12 drivers use the Slang shaders. The older DX drivers may work, I haven't tried them since they are for older hardware and operating systems.

Did you check the core controller options and make sure the 2nd player controller is enabled and set to the correct controller ?
-
Oh yeah, welcome to the forums and feel free to ask for help with anything you need help with either here on the forums or our discord channel if you use that.
-
@pyronerd94 you get get a thanks for asking for help with actual helpful screenshots and description of the problem.

I believe @Jason Carr said everything down to and including the Nested Folders but maybe some of the other stuff may sneak in if it's not much trouble, just don't expect it. The other stuff will hopefully carry over to the next poll as well.
I'm hoping for the Merged and Goodsets support as well, not for myself but I know it's something a lot of people would really like and I think it's a good feature to have.

Something else I thought about that you may want to look into and that is to convert your disks to the .chd format, not quite as small as a 7zip file but no waiting to decompress first.
-
Did you try loading the game through LB extracted first ?
-
I keep my stuff extracted so things load faster but I just zipped up a game and tested it and it worked fine. I even tried with just cue + bin along with the cue + bin in a folder in the 7z file, both worked.
-
Ahh, gotcha.
Well you can still try the settings I mention and some of the stuff in the performance thread, hopefully it helps you out.
-
Is there any chance you can add a graphics card to your system ? It doesn't need to be anything fancy at all, just a cheap low profile one with 1 gig of gddr5 vram on it, shouldn't cost more than 30-40$.
It would help out quite a lot but in the meantime in BigBox try turning off all the transition effects and set your image quality to medium. There are some performance tips which may help you in this thread here if you haven't seen it already.
You shouldn't be getting freezes though, @Jason Carr has been testing BigBox on a GPD Win which is pretty low end hardware and aiming to get it running well with certain settings.
-
Just for starters I do not use the Retroarch Mame core, I prefer the stand alone.
Now having said that I just tested out Mame and Street Fighter and changed my buttons to a mapping that works for me using the Mame "tab menu" like I would in stand alone Mame. It saved my controller mappings perfectly fine. Retroarch stores these controller configs along with the default.cfg in:
Retroarch\saves\MAME\mame\cfg
-
If I remember correctly I believe Platform Categories was added after the Playlists (I could be wrong though) and @Jason Carr didn't go back in and add it to the list of options for the Auto Population window.
Your tagging of all the Handheld games using the Bulk Edit tool is certainly the best work around for now.

Strange Mame Problem
in Troubleshooting
Posted
Sorry I don't have PS4 controller hooked up to my PC to test it out but it works fine with my Hori FC controller though that's wired and PS3.
Have you tried the stand alone version of Mame to see if that works ?
