Not sure what the point of redownloading the same folder when it hasn't updated since August 23 is, but I did it anyway.

Well that was for back when it was first released and some people had issues and I had updated the theme.

Double check that your folder structure looks like this and that the Bad Old Monkey folder is not inside another folder.screenshot_17.jpg.62cc3ba7d9093dfb4f377ec125288771.jpg

Did you install it to the \LBThemes folder and not the \Themes folder ?

Did you read the install instructions which has some extra instructions in case there is an issue ? Some people had some issues and posted a potential fix earlier in the comments and is in the install instructions as well.

I have even tried removing the Default theme and renaming the Bad Old Monkey folder to Default to force it to apply and it still uses the default theme.

This won't work, Jason coded it up so the Default is the default in case of a bad theme totally breaking things.

  1. If using the Non Merged or Merged set just one. This is why I recommend using a Non Merged set to pull roms from if going for a hand picked set.

With a Split set you will need to figure out which is the parent and clone and if you want to run a clone rom you will need a parent to go along with it. With a merged set all of the games different versions are included but you still may need a bios to go along with it.

I randomly picked this folder off your batch file called "copy tp84.zip NoFiller." Without some type of reference, I would have no idea what game that is...

The spreadsheet contains that info, tp84.zip is Time Pilot 84. Every game is listed with its rom zip file name and the copy command for it.

is there a resource online where we can look up a specific MAME game by name, and then be able to see what that folder is named in our MAME collection?

Not sure if this is completely up to date or not but you can try http://www.mamedb.org/List.aspx

Another option would be to get a version of Mame with a GUI and point it at a full rom set, you can then go through it and look up games and see what the rom zip file name is.

First of all, thank you for doing this! I am going to try it out. Second, I downloaded this file and the "README.txt" file says that set 0.200 is needed, but in the description above, it states that 0.201 is needed. Can you clarify which is correct?

201 is the correct version but it should work perfectly fine with the 200 set, nothing changed in the file naming.

Also, how does one add any new games to this batch file? I read the directions, see the Excel sheet, etc., but there are no specific directions on how to add any games users may want in addition to the ones you've loaded into it.

The easiest way is to simply edit the batch file using notepad++ and adding lines at the end for any games you want to add. Just refer the other lines in the batch file for exact context.

    copy gameromname.zip NoFiller

The spreadsheet filee is for more advanced users who are at least a little confident with using it. I just provided it so if anyone wanted to really dig in and go crazy with it all the necessary files are there and ready to work with.

  4. Updated with a new download, the raster.ini is still the same but I added my vector.ini for vector games like Asteroids and Star Wars. I found the defaults to be very annoying, the bloom was way over done and the "smearing" effect was obnoxious, real vector line monitors do not look like that at all.

Of course nothing can replicate a vector monitor but I feel these do a good job of making things look very good on a modern display and not look like a pile of puke that the defaults are.

The issue is there for 4 frames of animation, it appears that the "transition mask" doesn't fully extend to the top and bottom of the screen so when the game box slides in you see the little bit at the top that isn't covered by the dark mask.

  5. Keep in mind that these bat files are made for an older 170 version rom set so how well it works now on a newer rom set I cannot say for certain at all.

All you have to do is extract the files from the download and copy the file you want to use into the same folder with your Mame roms. I suggest using the:

    _NoFiller.bat

After copying it to your roms folder double click it to run it like any other program. It will create a folder called _NoFiller and copy all the matching roms listed in the batch file to the newly created folder. You can then have a streamlined set of working roms that you can import into Launchbox.

Yeah it shows a screenshot if there is no video which is fine for most people, i'm just odd :)

And i'm sure the yellow is just personal preference, other people probably like it. For me it's the white text with yellow highlight is not enough contrast making the game title a little rough to read but it's not like you can't just look at the clear logo at the bottom to see what it is either.

    Just minor stuff really.

Not bad, I like the minimalist design but there are 2 things I would like to see different. One is the yellow highlight of the selected game is not something I like a whole lot, it makes the name of the game you have selected hard to read and it's a bit bright. The second thing I would like to see is if the user didn't have a video for the game it should show the box art
