  1. I don't know if it has this feature, if it's in the plans or even if it is possible. But I would love to have the ability to import my entire romset and then go in and build a clean list of games and then have one click to copy out all the necessary roms to a folder so I could have a nice, clean romset. This would be so awesome if it's possible for people who want to build a small streamlined mame cab without importing an entire romset and then dealing with generating a new list.
  2. Personally I have a full mame romset just using MameUI on its own but for within Launchbox I have a couple of hundred games pulled out into a separate folder to keep it streamlined. I'll use the full MameUI for trying out games and when I find one I really like I will pull a copy of the roms out to the favourites for Launchbox.
  3. Take a look at this project over at the Build Your Own Arcade Controls Forum. Link. He's far from finished but he does have some done. Basically he's creating batch files to copy out roms for games that people will actually play and weed out the crap no one cares about.
  4. It's probably something to do with the on-board Realtek sound card and drivers. The first thing I had to do when I installed Win10 was install proper Realtek drivers because of massive reverb issues with the sound. I probably should have just reinstalled new sound drivers again first to see if that fixed the problem this time but I didn't think of it til after. I just figured I would post this here as well as over on the Retroarch forums for anyone else running into the issue and looking for a quick fix for this problem if encountered.
  5. After installing Windows 10 Update KB3140743 I noticed a massive performance hit with Retroarch. Everything on my system was running perfectly before this update and after was running around 20 frames per second slower and basically impossible to play. I don't know what exactly in the update caused this issue but uninstalling this specific update everything was perfect again. This was only a problem within Retroarch, other standalone programs and emulators did not seem to be affected by this update as far as I could tell. This was on my lower end laptop, my main gaming rig does not use Windows 10 so I do not know if it was something within the patch specifically for everyone or if it was something specific to my laptop combined with the patch.
  6. The thing about Mame is this though. When is the last time Mame had a real significant update that actually mattered to the vast majority of people ? The last version of Mame I really need is 151 and that is only because of the fact that is the last full romset I downloaded is for. Now Mame is up to 171 but there is very little if anything of any real significance to warrant upgrading to that version. That's not to say there won't be any real changes coming, especially now that it's gone open source we could see some massive changes. Long story short is unless Mame all of a sudden starts to support a large portion of games it didn't previously there really is no reason to upgrade the proper working Mame for the romset version you currently have working. If the version you have runs the games you want without issue just leave it alone until there is a major reason to upgrade. I'm all for newer versions of stuff but when the newer versions are for extremely small obscure things it's just not worth messing with upgrading it. Also having said all that I do always get the newest version and check it out and stuff but I keep a nice solid 151 mame and romset installed that is my base install.
  7. My first console that I owned was my Atari 2600 I got for my 8th birthday back in 82 and my first computer was a Commodore Vic 20 with the oh so awesome cassette drive and monochrome monitor I got the following year. Before the Atari though I remember playing Pong on a Coleco Telstar my uncle owned. I also had some handheld electronic games like a Space Invaders I got for my 5th birthday. I still have my original 2600 and the Space Invaders handheld, both still work perfectly.
  8. This one ? link That one does look cool but after using the other "odd shaped" one I think I like the odd shape better, it is so comfortable. If only there was a pc version of these old Sega wireless 6 button controllers. link I have a pair of these from way back in the day and they are amazing in the hand and the d-pad is absolutely perfect.
  9. @Drybonz Yeah, it's a really sweet controller for anything that doesn't require an analog stick. The d-pad an buttons just feel so right, quick and responsive. @DOS76 I don't think they have a wireless version. It is targeted towards the fighting game community so going wireless would mean some potential input lag which is a huge no-no. But on the plus side the cord on it is quite long @ approx 10 feet.
  10. Vsync should be turned off unless you got extremely bad screen tearing, the game should run at its natural speed. Other than causing games to run at the wrong speed it can also induce some input lag which no one wants. I made a thread a couple of weeks back where I posted about the settings I use in RA and these are settings that aren't necessarily basic in getting stuff up and running but I feel are extremely important to getting things running better and are also good settings to use across the board regardless of core you are using. https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/my-retroarch-settings
  11. The default button on the controller is the Xbox "guide" button if you are using an xbox or Logitech controller. If that doesn't work the F1 key on the keyboard will bring it up then you navigate to Settings > Input > Input Hotkey Binds and at the bottom to can assign a key for it.
  12. Your volume was probably set low from before, maybe from the last time you were playing around with RA, that's my guess anyways but that's minor. As for your game freaking out that is a weird one and not one I have ever encountered. The only things that come to mind immediately is check your RA video settings and see if Threaded Video is set to on or off, it should be set to off. With it on I have seen some weirdness from time to time. As for 32X performance I assume you mean it's running slow ? It runs slow on my laptop but my main gaming rig it runs just fine but because it's 32X with near 0 games worth playing I don't even play it. I can do some testing with Fusion 3.64 and see I can figure out some settings. What exactly is the problem with fusion and what are you looking to achieve ?
  13. What does LordMonkus refer to ? LOL I don't even remember exactly anymore. I just know it's something to do with monkeys because who doesn't love monkeys. It was probably some weird bastardized combination of Lord Vader, Darth Sidius and a monkey that me and a buddy came up after partaking in a few bowl hits. It was definitely something thought of several years ago and I really couldn't tell you the origins of it at all.
  14. The hololens is going to be an all in one unit. It's not like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive which connects to your PC. This is why the price is going to be $3000, it has the processing power built right in. If this device is to succeed it needs to target the educational sector like colleges and universities, this thing would be an amazing educational tool. As for gaming if they wanna show off what this thing can do then they need to show it off for games like Minecraft, tabletop D&D and strategy games. Those types of games would be amazing with this thing. Either way, 3 grand is a no starter for the vast majority of consumers out there. Hell, even when the Oculus Rift announced at $600 a lot of people (including myself) who were ready to plop down $450 took a big step back and said "nope, not paying that much" for it, and I have the PC ready to run it.
  15. snoopaloop83 said I installed a seperate MAME 64.exe just to test out the roms and most roms launch but when i try to launch neo geo roms or street fighter 2 turbo it says im missing roms or CHD images. @sentaibrad @jasoncarr
Is it saying you are missing the neogeo bios and the qsound file for capcom games ? If so you need those separate rom files as well as the actual game files.
