  1. I have the same question, I would like to know what games use a specific emulator, without having to go to every single game and go through the edit menu for every one of them individually.
  2. If you'd like to be able to specify portable names in the fliplist (i.e. just specify the file names without having to hardcode the entire drive/directory), please vote for this one: https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/6915/emulator-option-to-set-current-directory
  3. Great timing on this thread, I came looking for exactly this topic after thinking I'd like to update some publisher names. My thoughts: Developer / Publisher name changes I think that the developer name should strictly reflect their identity at the time of release Publisher changing names ... I'm thinking that it's better to put both names in the publisher field ... are there real examples of changing publisher names that are significant? Naming standards I am leaning strongly towards not including "inc.", "ltd." "corp." etc legal classifications in company names. They may (or may not!) be part of the legal company names, but they're not really a significant part of a company's identity. I think this is also the way moby games entries tend to be done. A game may be published by "Company X, Ltd." in one country, and "Company X, Inc." in another, in part because they may be separate legal entities. But for the purposes of this database, I think it's far more useful to identify them simply as "Company X".
  4. Have you tried using the importer in LaunchBox, as I recall it imported all my D-Fend games flawlessly.
  5. Same, per separate thread I'd love to see a category for old chess machines and handheld led/lcd games from the late 70's - early 90's.
  6. Ok fair enough, thanks seaview, sundogak et al. Looking at this with fresh eyes, it seems everyone is really in quite clear agreement that the title should definitely strictly follow the box art. I thought these games might be special enough to warrant special handling across the board but I seem to be alone in that thinking :-). Thanks to everyone who chimed in.
  7. Hmmmm, this is a very ambiguous topic that needs a clear decision one way or the other so that DB contributors know what to do. There are many opinions. That's the only reason I posted here in the forums in the first place. You just seem to be confirming that there's no consensus. I have a disk called "Sid Meier's Civilization II", my buddy has one called "Civilizatoin II: MGE", all my friends and magazine reviews just call it "Civilization II". What should I do? What is your opinion? EDIT: sorry I think I gave you short shrift here, I see you're arguing that Steam names the games one way, but is that the sole argument? If steam changed their naming on these games, would you change your opinion? If there's no official authority, then the next best thing is for the community to discuss and argue the merits of the options. The only options are: 1. Yes include "Sid Meier's" in the title 2. No, do not include "Sid Meier's" in the title 3. Situational, and if this is you preference, please describe how a noob would know which of the two choices they should use? Please pick 1, or 2, or 3, and describe why you picked it!
  8. You're not actually stating an opinion on the posed issue. You make an excellent point ... my game Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is called "Ghost Recon: Breaktpoint", rather than "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint". What did you call yours? The point here is, that one or the other needs to be chosen for LBDB, not left up for random choice. A community decision should be made here, not offloaded to other unspecified sources :-).
  9. You're not really stating your opinion on this. By "left alone", do you mean that Civ II should be titled "Sid Meier's Civilization II", and that Civ II MGE should be titled "Civiliation II: Multiplayer Gold Edition" simply by virtue of the variation of the box art? While on a generic level I would agree with this as a first principle in naming, in this case, due to significance/popularity of the titles, I would argue that either one or the other should be chosen across the board.
  10. Hmmmm I don't get it ... is there way in LB to have it show (or not) these images based on a filter?
  11. Another one for the community to ponder. Should Sid Meier's games have the "Sid Meier's" prefix? Lots of places refer to "Sid Meier's Civilization", lots of others just to "Civilization". I think *most* of the game boxes had "Sid Meier's" in small print above the game name, but some didn't (e.g. Civilization II MGE). After pondering quite a bit (and actually putting the Sid Meier's prefix on my own LB games) I have come to the conclusion that it make more sense to leave the "Sid Meier's" out of the titles (tough call, clearly I've wavered!). More importantly, though, I think someone should make a decision for LBGD and they should all be aligned that way.
  12. I guess I'm beating a dead horse, but I can't stop thinking about this! Since there's already the Ninendo Game & Watch platform, I think the logical path of least resistance is to keep that, and maybe add a new one like Electronic Games, or maybe Vintage Electronics? Something that more accurately covers all the non-Nintendo devices. Vintage Electronics could cover some of the more esoteric computers as well (e.g. Kim-1) that don't really deserve a platform of their own.
  13. Sorry I can't help with the sound issue. But for people using standard Daphne I will point out that you can run daphne fullscreen windowed, rather than fullscreen, by using DxWnd. Anything that goes hard fullscreen on a smaller resolution than my desktop, personally, it drives me nuts :-D.
  14. I thought I'd start a discussion here in the hopes that we can get some community consensus on the use of the DLC gametype. Someone has submitted some updates to the DB for SNES games that were download-only, as opposed to retail boxed. In my mind, these are still 'Released' games, not DLC. DLC would strictly be an add-on to an existing released game. Especially with games these days, often there is no physical box at all, just download. But, there's still a very distinct difference between a released (e.g. https://store.steampowered.com/app/460930/Tom_Clancys_Ghost_Recon_Wildlands/) game and DLC for it (e.g. https://store.steampowered.com/app/573832/Tom_Clancys_Ghost_Recon_Wildlands__Fallen_Ghosts/), despite the fact that both are download-only. So, whoever you are, I am still respectfully rejecting your change to gametype for a game that I consider released, but I welcome some broader discussion here and will of course keep an open mind. Please be respectful.
  15. Ahhhh, thanks! Per my previous comment, this category is really wider than just the Nintendo brand, however, perhaps it should be renamed to make it a little more generic?
