  1. In RomCenter, when you choose the 1941 file, on the right what does it show? The second screenshot just seems liek the first, but with the named arranged the opposite way. Do not get confused if they fixed the names or checked the files and RomCenter shows it as green. For example on this picture is shows that Romcenter can correct it, since it is yellow. That does not mean though it is fixable if the file on the right can't be found. I think thought to be marked yellow, it must be cause Romcenter believes it can find the file. I still do not trust Romcenter as much as ClrMamePro, but it is more visual. If you look below you will see that 1941 should have more files to work correctly, as romcenter is saying. As long as your file is missing the extra files, ClrMamePro and RomCenter can't somehow get them and add them to your zip. I think Brad tagged CriticalCid, so when he sees the post, he will offer a helping hand as an expert.
  2. Ah ok, I just thought it was procedure. Thanks Brad.
  3. You could try to fix that problem with ROmCenter, which is more user friendly or ClrMamePro, which is more accurate. If not, you could always gets a 0.172 set and use MAME 0.172, instead of the updated one. This way MAME will load them correctly.
  4. Ok I have added a game for testing, called Wing Over and it has been 5 days now I think. I checked every day and I think it has been 2-3 days that the status says 3 Approvals and 0 Rejections, but it does not appear in the DB. I actually wanted since I put it to add the boxart, since I forgot the first time, but even if it seems approved, it does not appear.
  5. The japanese 1941, merged, non merged or split, has 25 unique files. This is why I am thinking that seeing these 4 randomly in the pack, means the source might have not paid attention. If these 4 were missing, the pack would be a 1941r1, with missing "bios" files, since that is missing it common files that are used by about 50 games.
  6. gizmo Your files seem to be a mix of the 1941r1 (just alternative to original) and a couple of files from the Japanese one. The bin files are from the Japanese and the rom from the 1941 alternative. I am not sure where you got your games, but I feel you might run into more problems with more games if all of them are messy like this.
  7. Does this game works with MAME out of Launchbox? These are files that seem to be part of the game. At least when I check my 1941 zip file, these are included. Can you check the rom file and see if they are in it? As for naming, some times the file name does not match the Database names here., although I am not expert.
  8. I remember you mentioned that you owned it, along with some others. Better not think about it. Try to fill your mind with good memories. From my "want to try" list, the only games I want to try on it are Battlemorph, Highlander, Hover Strike, Iron Soldier and Robinson's Requiem. I remember the whole library of games was really small, so it is not weird the interest to emulate it is not that high.
  9. The only reason I wanted to emulate Jaguar CD was the exclusive games it has and nothing more. Afar from like 4-5 games that do not exist on other consoles and would be nice to see their awfulness, I would avoid it XD There is an older emulator that supports Jaguar CD, but it is so bad that matches the awfulness of Jaguar CD itself.
  10. Virtual Jaguar does not really play Virtual CD, although I mean the actual emulator. It is a feature to be distributed. I tested a handful of CD ones and the only one that worked for me, was the Baldies if I remember well. it has been quite some time now. I stopped thinking about it, since it has been two years now that the status of that feature is on CD support coming soon.
  11. Because that is one of the cores I wanted to use RetroArch on, I have found a solution by using a different core which seems to be for 64bit systems. Sadly it did not work that well like the actual Virtual Jaguar for me, but you can give it a try yourself. I honestly did not try too much to make it work better. Maybe you will have better luck. http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=54548883414813573228
  12. LaunchBox is like a seed~ It is now a small tree that will grow in a huge one! Shame we can;t use bonemeal like Minecraft. PS: Considering the last FrontEnd I messed with was Hyperspin, I feel LaunchBox is spoiling me.
  13. No. The names of these images are right, because they are not meant to be front covers. Front cover images do not have numebrs in the end, but Screenshots and others do, because there might be more than just 1 of them, which is why you see 02 and 03. But front cover images have have only one, which is why they do not have a number. This is meant to be normal.
  14. The reason must be the -01 in the end. I use Screenshots for missing covers and I used a batch renamer, namely "File Renamer Basic" to remove from the image names the -01, so the screenshots can work as boxart images.
  15. Considering how the DB keeps getting updated, maybe it will not even be needed =p But I am sure such features will be added in the future. I too will love that feature, since the empty boxart games make the UI look kind of bad. Glad my workaround helped =)
  16. Sadly I do not know if a way or at least I could not find out, but I am doing something that is a bit manual for now to do that. Boxart lacking games are not that many, so depending the console, it does not take that long. I mark the games that lack boxart and then mass edit their Status to 0No Cover, and Hide them all too. For games I managed to import a in game screenshot, I mark them and change their Status to 1No Cover and the rest of course are Imported ROM games. Whenever I want to hide from the UI the no cover games, I just untick the "Show Hidden Games" option and my UI has only games with covers and screenshots. Occasionally I update only the non cover games for front covers and if some of them appear with one, I just batch move them to the Imported ROMS category. Doing that makes it easy to select with just Ctrl+A all the non cover games and scan for new pictures. If there is another way, I hope someone can help you. -Edit- Ah yes I forgot to say, that to choose the non cover ones I have, I arrange them Launchbox Games Database ID. On the top of the results are the games not yet included in the Database, so the rest that are included should have boxart. Amongst these that are not included in the database, some might have boxart from Emumovies, so I mark the rest and put them in the 0No Cover category. This makes finding the non cover files easy.
  17. Personally peripherals never bothered me, but then again I never really got one myself to feel the disappointment and then feel bad about it. What consoles though seem to do is to release smaller more compact versions, along with making the console better, be it technically or in other ways. I guess there are exceptions, like SNES 2, but then again that was meant as a budget console, for people that never experienced it. But new gen consoles always release smaller and better versions and by better I usually mean with the power converter out of the system, which results in a smaller and cooler system. Along with that they might fix problems the previous model had, with PS3 being, at least for me, the best upgrade. I never owned the 1st gen one, but a friend did. God his console was so hot, I feel if you looked close enough, you could see the radiation. But there is something that came to my attention with the latest portable devices, which started with PSP, at least I think. Now they do not only upgrade the mechanical part, but also add more power to the console, so it will play some games that needed more processing power better. 3DS, which was a console I probably would have bought, got kicked out of my mind after I saw the 3 different versions of the 3DS XL and how each had better processing power than the previous, or something alike, it has been a long time, but I do remember that was the reason I just lost motivation. I am glad I was late in entering in the mindset of buying it, mostly because my DSi XL was more than good for me, but when I saw that article, I really felt like it was wrong. I mean, the price of newer models is as high as the older model's was, so people that will buy the newer version, will be able to enjoy games with less problems and lag. Definitely a fanboy, will either get all the versions or will sell off in ebay the previous one he had and try to get the newer one. Some decisions are good and some are bad, but if anything, peripherals seem to have existed since the Atari generation (well or however people call it). Whether they were good, bad or a waste of space, it is just seem to be the norm. Oh those peripherals..
  18. SentaiBrad Since you are eventually going to make a video, I just also wanted to point out that it was work with zip files too. But it must be either zip or lha, not an lha inside the zip. I mention that because some sources give the games is zip format rather than lha.
  19. If anything, from tests i did, TurboGrafx-CD actually looks really awesome. Afar from 1-2 FMV games which looked awful, the rest looked nice and interesting. Having videos combined with 8-16 bit games and music/audio that sounds better than the midi like of old consoles, was awesome. I was stunned while playing some games on it. I also did love the Lunar ones while I was testing them. I will never forget at least one of them, since I had to watch through ALL the opening, so I could confirm it plays inside the game. I can only imagine that the 3DO was bad, but only from seeing the lsits of games between that and CD-i, I can say that 3DO was better. There are so many games on CD-i that are just music, or music with pictures or just videos or anything but games XD BUT, I will say this. 3DO and CD-i probably are the best options to play FMV games. I would definitely avoid the SegaCD or TurboGrafx-CD FMV games, as long as a playable version fo the same game existed in 3DO or CD-i. At least these consoles seemed to have better video quality. Considering Jaguar CD can't be emulated, I can't even know how that was. XD
  20. At least Kega and Mednafen can emulate the English games that exist. If one or two exist that do not work, I will live with that. But I always go with the logic, if it is not broken do not fix it. Then again a handful of Sega games had controller issues, specifically ones that needed a gun. But I am really not picky enough to care for originals. I would never buy myself a real life Sega CD though.. except if it was the really awesome CDX, which actually looks cool. Sadly currently I have a lot of free time, if you can understand what I mean with sadly when saying that. But considering the love for Sega, I doubt I will not be able to get the original images if I ever wish to. I can see why people hated Sega CD, since the quality of especially its FMV games is putrid, but I thankfully am one of the people that find this horrible quality something of the past.. I was so jealous of Mega Drive owners when I was young and I had a SNES XD As for offering roms, people like hiding behind their fingers, but as long as it keeps things safe, it is nice. How easily a site can close because someone throws dirt. Especially now with news going around the net so easily, stuff can go bad. It is amusing though, cause I personally prefer to get ISOs even if I own the game... I really do not like the idea of putting my CD games inside my drive and ripping them and I am not even a collector. I guess I just do not trust my PC DVD drive much and I hate scratches on my games >.>
  21. For better or worse, I cant use Genesis GX, but I can say with certainty Kega starts every single English game from tests, with the only non working being Rising of the Dragon that needed 3.63. I tested them up to the point where it starts the game and I can play, so I can't say for sure they will work without bugs. I am using MP3 and OGG images for space. I was having a talk with a friend that was telling me that will lower their sound quality. I then just told him I listen to my music with mp3 and when I listen to music, there is no gameplay with it. I am just listening to music. When I play a game, I play a game indeed for it's music, but I doubt I will recognize the quality loss between an uncompressed WAV file and a compress mp3 @ 128kbps file. The loss in kbps might be liek from 1500 to 128, but the Khz loss is usually from 22KHz down to 16-18khz, depending the compression. If I had some awesome spreakers that can catch the slightest of changes in sound, and I was someone that loves audio and music, I would probably not choose the mp3 ones. But when it comes to using 25-33 more GB of space, only for that, I will go for the HDD space. Obviously, I am talking as a player and not a collector. A collector would wish to have the 1:1 copy of the game. PS: It is ok to get ROMS from the internet, not because it is legal, but if you have the original media, you can claim you did the copy, if for whatever reason you will need to. But that is only because there is no way to prove that is not your copy. Obviously if the comparison shows differences, like different version or whatnot, that simply means that copy is not of your game, but it is another game. So in other words, It is legal to keep roms, only because no one can prove you were the one that created it. As soon as they can, that going in the trash >>
  22. Yeah, I too when was trying FS-UAE, was trying to do it all manually. But now I was reading on their documentation in their page and it mentioned that. I am sure after this, you will definitely change the suggested Amiga Emulator to FS-UAE. I am so happy I finally managed to make it run.. amusing how I sent over two days trying to get it work and the process was.... I will say instant, lol. I am sure after you make a video for it Brad, a lot of noobs like me will be grateful XD
  23. I have compared 5 games between Pico and Kega. It was not so much issues as having laggy videos or sounds being off. One of them I think it was Afterburner, in case Wolf wants to compare. Obviously it might just be my setup, but after testing 5 games, I was convinced Kega was better for that, at least for me.
  24. Retroarch supports mp3 files, like the ones I have, but only with the Picodrive core. This is the reason I am not going to use RetroArch for SegaCD, because PicoDrive is not as good as either Kega I am using, nor Genesis Plus GX. If you want to confirm about the mp3 you can read it here. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Genesis_Plus "Please note that other compressed audio files (such as .mp3, .mpc, .wma, etc) are NOT supported and audio tracks should be using 16-bit stereo 44100Hz format." Even if this is the Wii version, GX version which became avaialbe for Windows, did not add the support. If you will use Kega, all I can point out is that you should activate as soon as you use it Perfect Synch in it's options. If not activated, games will have a lot of problems, glitches, or simply not play. From tests I did on all US games, there was only a single game that did not work with Kega's last version. Rising of the Dragon (If I remember the name well). That lead me to look around the internet and finally found a post mentioning that the latest version of Kega messed something about Sega CD emulation. Using Kega 3.63 (which is what I am using for my SegaCD games) actually let me play that game perfectly fine. Of course the above is only if you want to play mp3 converted games. Front what I read Genesis Plus GX is really good for emulating Sega CD, so I would probably use that too if it was not for my files to differ. I guess it is the same for me with TurboGrafx-CD and Mednafen, since I have them on ogg format.
  25. Ok I always presumed that zipped meant the .zip file and not the .lha file. Not only that, but I was trying to load the lha file as a floppy and not a hard drive. What a double failure... at least I learned how to install WB. It was a nice experience! But damn! FS-UAE with a simple registration it offers a database to not even the need to run the slave is needed :D What and awesome thing! Not only that, but it fixes the settings, so the game works perfectly. If it was any more easy, the computer would know what game I want to play and run it, before I even think about it :D @orac31 and @Bil Thank you so much for helping me on this and steering me to the right direction. @SentaiBrad You literally just have to download FS-UAE (I got the portable version), log in the FS-UAE (after registering on the site of course) so it will download the game database and then it will play the games, even if you just drag and drop the files on the exe. I tested that with a handful apf, ipf and lha files. Not only that, but like you mentioned it would normally have video and audio problems, but with the database of FS-UAE ALL the games I tried, run perfectly fine.
