Hi, I'm finally building a retrostation, and seems things have evolved lots, and I'm finding new formats for my games... So, for example, I discovered is better to store my Dreamcast games as chd insted of the original GDI And I'm finding info on PSX games as well, istead of cue/bin, I can convert it to pbp, but I'm not sure if there's any drawback to this... Seems is far better for multiple disks games? Any info on this and easy way to do so? Thanks!

Yes, but I'm not sure if it's the correct name, I picked mesen_libretro from the dropdown
-
Hi, I'm triing to configure mesen through reetroarch in launchbox, but I'm not doing something correctly... I'ts working well standalone, but I can't get launchbox to launch games using it... (no issue with nestopia)
-
I would usggest using *REMOVED* sets, they are always complete and updated the next day (or even same) MAME comes out
-
But should not be any problem importing first with lights peed and then any other no? Or files become botched?
-
Will pick the split set then, ugg, 20Gb more... at least is not the system one, that CHD can go to Tb!

If I'm not mistaken launchbox does not support artwork file does it? So what's the point in LS doing it? (keeping the scope in launchbox ofc) I would rather prefer requesting support for artwork zip in launchbox

I'm back into launchverse and downloading current 0.183 merged set, will report how they behave ASAP!

Why not a "+" besides the "woirk" folder with a pop up to add extra ones? that would not crowd much default view...
-
Well, I see it as simple as having different "sources" folders and "work"... For instance, I can point to several folders where I do have media, and LB downloads what's still missing on it's "work" folder... Like mame itself, where you can point various folders for each concept... In my case for eample, I do have LB and emus in an SSD, and roms and mame extras in a NAS... I could take great advantage in keeping these extras on the NAS and not mix with LB goods...

WIP - Recommended emulators for each platform
Johnnydement replied to Johnnydement's topic in Emulation
Title changed I had in mind to compile the list based in what people suggested, so there's plenty of options to recommend one "generic" emu, and offer alternatives for concrete cases -
True, just noticed Missing much if I just pick previous? Or better update to beta?
-
Nope, jus tthe last official one

I've been away from emu scene for quite some years, besides more or less following mame... now I find most of my prefered emus are way surpassed. I would love if we could build a list of recommended emus for each system, and I hope some gurus here would do their suggestions to compile/debate/agree in this first post. I'm really open for suggestions on how to do this and I'm more than up to build a comparison table if you help me find the pros/cons If this has been done already (couldn't find it easily), I will be more than glad to be adressed there and save the work of redoing I knwoo there's the Emulator settings for each platforms (it's pinned!) but I see this as somewhat different Îf your suggestion is retroarch, please specify cores I would love to compile links to tutorials to configure each system too. I'm ashamed not to have personal favourites yet besides bsnes (after being pointed there, 3 months ago was zsnes lol), that's why I ask experienced users I know many of these systems will share emulator, or there's only an option, but just for the sake of individual preferences lest list them individually. Fell free to point missing platforms I compiled it from my roms lists For arcades I would love to be able to separate better than mame options as final burn for CPS, neogeo, etc. it's the last complete list... Nintendo Sega NEC Atari SNK Bandai Casio Other Arcade Commodore Microsoft Sony Other Other handhelds Kids

SentaiBrad said Do you happen to have the controller options in LaunchBox enabled? You mean options>input>control/gamepad? I have the 3 options on, I use a 360 gamepad and a tankstick for the rest of games.

Nice, but may be too massive for my TV! (55")

Hello, I'm having issues with Launchbox and dolphin controls. If I start Dolphin, controls work flawlessly as I want them to... But, if I start dolphin through Launchbox, controllers don't respond. I'm using real wiimote (wii)/ 360 controller(GC) Amb I missing some parameter? Thx!

I'm looking for a nifty wallpaper for my HTPC that reminds of retrogaming, arcades and is still subtle and not to brand specific. Haven't got much succes yet though... Suggestions? Thx!

Been a bit out... got a doubt, this awesome app is version dependant or doesn't mind what mame version you use with any beta? can I current with 0.175? Regards

Antropus said I rushed a new version out so you guys can try. Please report anything broken since a whole lot of new code was introduced recently: https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/emulation/lightspeed-ultra-fast-mame-importer-tool/page-14#p18370 Cheers, -Kris Gonna get latest 174 set/chd/extras first ;)

Drybonz said It's drawing the images from the image folder that you point it to, so that you can use a complete art set which are easy to find and download online at places I'm not allowed to talk about. If your images are incomplete, then they are not in your folder. For any missing images you can download an art set, or use LB database. Way easier to download a set. Ah ok, though I would be where the parser would download goodies ;) Gotta use my extras folder again! hehe

Wow, this scalated quickly xD I tried LS yesterday night and worked like a charm, i still have doubts in some aspects and will redo when te new version comes out. I've noticed many games not having any image though, nor Lightbox being able to find any afterwards. CPS-1 games for instance, have emumovies videos, but not image. On the other hand, metadata is really complete. Suggestions for replacing mame in some? I prefer final burn for cps1-2, shoud I stikc to mame for the rest?
