Thank you! Speaking of Save Management, am I able to have saves in there for emulators that aren't compatible with Save Management yet? I wanted to consolidate my save files into one central location.

Starting with a fresh install, I wanted to keep my games and saves in a easy location for backup. Could I just put a "Games" and "Saves" folder in the launchbox install folder? Thanks!

I'd rather have more room for game details and screenshots myself. I don't believe there's any option to toggle, but is there any keywords I can look for in theme XML files to try and edit to my liking? Thanks!

I wouldn't mind something like this. Currently I have a few categories for each system such as USA, Japan, Translations, Beta/Prototype and so forth. But it would be nice to choose the platform and see something like a default category. In most cases I want to play something from the USA list, so being able to choose a platform and not have it load up every single game from all the categories would be nice.

Are you saying that when you use the method @C-Beats gave, that when you go to pick a folder that folder shows as empty? That's normal.

I'm good at long rambling posts FYI. So I've been wanting to set up an older PC of mine to store all my larger files (Mostly disc based games, movies and TV shows). I've dabbled and read up on NAS setups, RAID, all that kind of stuff. Thing is, I'm the only one accessing the files and I don't need it available 24/7 with drives constantly spinning. I do own plex and being able to pull up a show on my phone sometimes was fun but not completely necessary. So what I'd ideally want is this... 1. Be able to access the files when I'm on my main computer, and stream from it. Such as pulling up Plex and choosing a show to watch. 2. Have a backup in case of a drive failure. I know having it all on one system isn't a true backup, but I'm fine with that for now. 3. Only backup certain files or folders. This may change if I have more space, but something I could easily download again are ok not to have a backup. (Like the movies I own on rifftrax.com, I can always log in and download them). 4. Automated backups. Like if I download something to a folder that I want to have backed up, it'll make sure there's a copy of it every so often. Doesn't need to be daily, weekly maybe? 5. Compression? It would be nice if I could save some space by having the files backed up and compressed, as long as it's not something I'd have to worry about if I ever need to get them back. Tall order I think so not too concerned about it. 6. Lower power/wear and tear. I'm not constantly accessing things on this computer, so having it only turn on/spin up as needed. I think this is where wake on LAN comes into play? I think that's everything. I know a few users here use NAS and other types of backups so I thought I'd see if anyone had suggestions. Right now I'm leaning towards something like a windows based system with something like Acronis True Image. Thanks!

Not a bad idea! I've yet to mess with the Pause Screen feature as most of the time I just pull up the Retroarch menu with a hotkey I mapped to the PS button on the controller I've been using. I'll have to look into it. I could also just keep something on my phone to reference, but thought it would be fun to use more features of LaunchBox. And now I get to learn and tinker with the Pause Screen Thanks!

TL;DR - I want to be able to keep track of where I am in a game, and read it when on the now loading screen before hitting a button to continue. I have a bad habit of starting games, usually RPGs and never finishing them. A friend of mine said he keeps notes of where he's at in a game to jog his memory when he gets a chance to start playing again. So I was thinking of trying to find a way to use it along with LaunchBox. The idea I have in mind is that when I launch a game, the startup screen would show whatever notes I have for that game. Instead of setting how long the startup screen would display, it wouldn't disappear until I hit a button to make it do so. Not really sure how to go about this, maybe .txt files with the same file name as the matching rom that could get displayed on the startup screen just how an image would?

Just built a new system and I want to get things more organized. Currently I have everything on one HDD under a folder called "Launchbox". But what I'd like to do is move the LB install along with images to my main OS SSD. As for the games and emulators, I wanted to keep them on the drive they're currently on, but in their own directories to keep things organized. Such as D:\Emulators and D:\Games\Sony Playstation\USA and so forth. Would there be an easy way to do this inside LB itself? I was thinking if not I could edit some of the XML files with find and replace. I know that might take awhile to go through everything but I'd rather not have to start from scratch, as I have lots of platform categories and playlists (Each console is broken down by USA, Europe, Fan Translations, Japan, Homebrew/Unlicensed, Beta/Prototype and so forth for example) Thanks!

I made a playlist called "Now Playing", which I have at the top of all other categories. Now when I choose a game to play I can right click the game, add it to the Now Playing playlist, and be able to go back to see what games I'm currently playing through. Also, I always collapse all the other categories and bring up now playing before I close launchbox, so it's the first thing that shows up when I open it back up next time.

Emulation General Wiki (gametechwiki.com) I usually use this. It shows which emulators are suggested for the system, and if it has a RetroArch core.

Would I need to go through all of that if I was just plugging the arcade stick in via USB? I could see if I was going the HDMI>Blissbox route that I would need to do that. However, I do have a ps360+ in my stick as well. I wonder if just forcing it to boot as a PS2 controller would work with the blissbox. I have to unplug it before booting my PC anyways because it's detected as something else on bootup and screws my mame config.
