  1. Thank you for the reply I think I got it all sorted out. (I suspect I still need some fixes for permissions on those other drives but for now everything is working OK) although I have not tried to do any game saves and those might give me some issues.) If I copy files to the old drives (they are like 3 months old) things do fine, but when something else tries to save data like a portable web browser for instance. It could just be this new version of Windows... I suspect a patch or update will be forthcoming with some sort of KB number and fixing issues. Edit: Doh... *slaps forehead* just realized that although I had Launchbox installed to that other drive... I still needed to install it from Windows like I did, registry and all that... It was not a portable executable... (I like my emulators and ROM's in that format for sticking them on other drives different from my Windows drive.) I would say "please make it so!" but I know it's to keep or slow down on piracy for this fantastic program! So I accept it because the benefits are just innumerable. Everyone should buy LaunchBox (BigBox is so worth it!!!) best thing to happen for emulation in a long time in my opinion (well besides the actual emulators anyway lol Thank you again and thank anyone who reads this, I hope that if some one has the same issue as me perhaps they will find some solution in my ramblings
  2. Well like 2 days ago I installed the creators update for Windows 10, I had Comodo Antivirus and firewall installed on my system... The update is not compatible with one of those things... After Windows rebooted from the updates nothing worked right, all the icons on my desktop had zero text and programs where missing text and I couldn't even perform a system restore (broken stuff) None of the tools I would normally use to repair Windows with would work. OK no problem just reinstall Windows and all my stuff? (This is how I learned that Comodo was not compatible) OK 2nd Windows install in one day (thank God for a fast SSD and my windows install being stored on a USB 3.0 thumb drive.) I finally have all my programs installed and I wanted to enjoy some of my Launchbox/BigBox games... All of those files where stored on other drives so Windows being reinstalled shouldn't have been a problem.... But a lot of programs refuse to run from my other drives it's hit and miss... NeoRageX 5.0 runs fine (with compatibility mode for Windows 95 and DPI scaling off) but other ones including LaunchBox will not run. I have tried the take ownership (takedown) command on all the drives and all the folders and even setting Launchbox to compatibility mode doesn't work (also run as admin) If anyone has any helpful advise please tell me what I am doing wrong lol (I have also googled my brains out and resorting to forum posts are my last resort, I try not to bug people with any problems, as usually Google has answers for almost everything.) Edit: Also I gave every account on my machine full access to all drives, still nothing. Edit 2: Good news everyone! I downloaded Launchbox again and had it just reinstall to the same folder, everything now works as it should even the 3 emulators I tested, the installer gave me some odd error that I managed to fix by right clicking the installer and selecting "install as administrator" Not sure why all this is going on... Makes me miss Windows XP and even 7 never gave me these issues (I have had multiple drives forever, it makes things like Windows reinstalls a lot less painful.
  3. Just wanted to start a topic about maybe adding some sort of way to access cheats from LaunchBox? Most emulators have some built in function to cheat at games, but right now if you want to use cheats for most emulators you have to drop out of the front end and go into the emulator itself to activate them (MAME is a nice exception, you just bring up the menu and off you go. Also on this topic Pugsy's Cheats for MAME go get it now! lol) I have been thinking about how to add this, it seems very complex... or maybe I am making it harder than it has to be? Most of the time I don't even care about cheats, but sometimes I just feel like taking revenge on that one monster that kept beating me up! lol Looking at you final boss from Forgotten Worlds... You took so many of my quarters... and I love you for it... lol Anyway everyone have a great day and even if it never gets added I would still recommend LaunchBox and BigBox to everyone on the planet. It's by far the best thing since sliced bread! Maybe some kind soul will attempt to add cheats via a plugin? I am looking into this myself but right now just step one of trying grasp how flexible that would need to be to do that... It really might not even be possible for some emulators. Almost would need to chain load something for each game... Like Launchbox>emulator>rom>cheat.dat? Where LaunchBox could show a menu with check boxes for cheats? OK now that my brain has gone sideways thinking about it, back to attempting to look like I know what I am doing in VisualStudio lol
  4. I would put my vote in for that, so far I have tried some of the other front ends for Android (there are two that I know of) and neither of them are as fast or easy to set up and after spending hours trying to get everything working, I just tend to give up and use the emulators are they are. Not that the UI for them is bad or anything but once you get spoiled by LaunchBox it's hard to go back lol LaunchBox is hands down the best front end for anything I have ever used.
