  1. Sorry to dig this up, but I was hoping if maybe I put a couple videos of my issue into the post, someone may be able to help me with my issue. Desktop Mode Example BigBox Example
  2. So, I'm currently trying to use the WindowCast core for Retroarch. For those who don't know what that is: https://forums.libretro.com/t/official-release-thread-for-windowcast-core/40464 Simply put, it's a core for retroarch that allows you to launch stand alone emulators through retroarch, so you can enjoy the shaders that retroarch uses. The thing is, it's a bit finicky, and seems to have stopped development. That said, I was wondering if anyone had had a lot success with it? Right now, the big pain I'm having is with PCSX2. I found a python wrapper that makes it "more" simple to use in front ends, but my specific issue is with it not being able to launch a game directly. Here's the wrapper here: https://github.com/AmateursPls/wincast/ Now, I am totally uneducated when it comes to scripting/ahk/etc. But I feel like I'm so close to getting this working how I'd want it to, but I just don't have the knowledge to get me over that last hump. The main problem being WindowCast grabs the emulators by using the title in the windows. This works for a lot of emulators, but the issue here is when you launch PCSX2, the title of the window becomes the game title, and WindowsCast is looking for the name of emulator itself. So, if you wanted it to work properly, you'd have to manually input every title of every game so that WindowCast finds it. This is also true for the Wincast wrapper as well, except for in this case, you'd have to manually input the full path to each rom in the running script. So in launchbox I set up the wincast wrapper as an emulator. Then in the running script for it I put something akin to this: Run, "...\Emulators\wincast.exe" --emulator "...\Emulators\PCSX2\pcsx2-qt.exe" --retroarch "...\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.exe" Now, this script will use wincast to launch PCSX2, and Retroarch with the windowcast core running. And as far as that goes it works great, but I can't get it to run a rom, it just boots up the gui, which you can't really do much with. However, wincast does have a command you can add to the end of this. --rom "...\ROMS\PS2\Game title.chd" Which when I use this, it works great, no issues, other than the obvious fact that I'd have to do separate launch conditions for every single rom if this was how I want to go. So, to sum it up, what I guess I'm looking for is if someone knows a way I can either fool the wincast wrapper into "knowing" what rom I want it to use, so I don't have to make separate launchers for each game. OR does anyone have perhaps a script that would launch the windowcast core/PCSX2/rom, without the need of the python wrapper at all?
  3. Title kind of explains everything. Having a strange issue where after choosing my startup screen, it stays as the default. The thing is this only happens in BigBox mode. If I turn on the option in normal desktop mode, it uses one of my installed startup themes.
Love this so much, and just the amount of imagination involved to really make this whole thing seem like a single piece, it's really awesome work. And the creator is awesome as well, takes suggestions, and in my case implemented them, and I love the new CD-I update.
  4. Yeah, exactly. But my thinking was, if it has an "arcade" platform that it uses for MAME, then perhaps there's a way to also point that towards the other arcade platforms as well. Basically telling Launchbox/Bigbox to "see" the other platforms besides MAME as a unified "Arcade" for the purpose of themes. I figured this would be the solution, but I was hoping maybe there was a way to get Launchbox/Bigbox to see the other platforms under the big "Arcade" umbrella and just unify it for the purpose of themes or whatever. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. Thanks for the responses!
  5. Hey guys, I was just curious about something. So, I have my Arcade platforms split into the following: Daphne, MAME, Atomiswave, Sega M2, Sega M3, and NAOMI. I'm using a theme that sees MAME as the default "Arcade" platform and has a special theme for that, but uses a basic theme for all the others. Is there any way for me to get Launchbox/Big Box to "see" the other Arcade platforms as the same as MAME or something so they can share similar themes?
  6. Beautiful work! That was so fast. Thank you so so much!
  7. Hello! Not sure if it had been suggested yet, but Philips CD-I pretty pretty please with sugar on top? Edit: And maybe a long box version of the the Sega CD, like the Saturn?
  8. I'm not sure I'm missing something, For some reason in the overview section, it only shows me 3D box art, but no screenshots or videos or any other media?
  9. Hello! These are incredible, I'm missing just a couple of platforms, and was wondering if there was any shot you'd be willing to make them? - Sega Model 2 - Sega Model 3 - Neo Geo CD
  10. I wish I could find one! I was looking for something like 4700G but I know they're still sort of restricting those to OEM PC's (which is why I was looking into pre-builts anyway) For the most part my storage isn't a problem, on my current system I have Launchbox running off an SSD, but the games are on a big ole HDD. I guess my post was built more out of frustration at the current market, and just was wondering if anyone was having any kind of miraculous luck or knew a product to point to.
  11. Wasn't sure where exactly to post this sorta thing, figured this would be the best place. Obviously right now is the worst possible time to build a pc. Especially for emulation where it's not really necessary to make the biggest baddest machine to run most systems, yet it seems every part, no matter how old is some ridiculous price. So, has anyone here had like any luck or suggestions or anything really? Seems like every search leads to another dead end, and I'd just love to have a machine dedicated for emulation that isn't like some overpriced thing.
  12. Hey! Just downloaded this, and the backgrounds for the systems aren't coming up. And yes, I have the Unified theme installed. Just wondering if maybe an update borked it? Image below to show you what I am experiencing.
  13. This is more of an FYI, than any real help, but I use RocketLauncher in conjunction with LaunchBox. There is an issue I've ran into where if you are using the Atari800 core, you're unable to use bezels and well... basically all the stuff that makes RocketLauncher worth using. This is because RocketLauncher will always seek out the config file from the config folder instead of .atari800.cfg. And even if you move the file to the config folder, then RocketLauncher will still ignore it over retroarch.cfg. Not looking for help, just putting it out there for educational purposes.
  14. I swear that at some point there was an option on Launchbox that prevented it from renaming your media. I cannot find it for some reason, and I just wanted to make sure I'm not crazy.
  15. I just recently downloaded the wonderful Unified theme for Launchbox. I used a similar theme style when I was using Hyperspin, so this brought me great joy. However, when using that theme on Hyperspin, I was still using game specific themes for Arcade games. Now the Unified theme uses artwork and displays the video within the artwork, while other users have converted the old Hyperspin themes into videos (actually much like the platform videos for the Unified theme). I guess what I'm wondering is if there's way to play the game theme video, instead of displaying the art work from the theme? And for the games that do not have a theme video made, that it goes back to the default art work? Hopefully this makes sense.
  16. This is basically what I was looking for. So apparently I have excellent timing. lol
  17. Just wondering. I have to imagine this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anyone asking. Just simply wonder if I could change it so that my game titles are "Game (USA) (Disc 1)" for example instead of the title taken from the DB.
  18. First, I'll say that it had been a little bit since I'd booted up Launchbox for tinkering purposes. Maybe since around 7.0? Anyway, I let it update, started it up, and for some reason all my media is missing except for Atari 2600. Now, the media is all there saved where it should be. I do keep my media in a separate spot than the default. "X:\Launchbox\Media\Images\Artwork 3" is where I keep my box art, for example (Mostly to keep my personal art collection separate from the downloaded media from the DB). I checked through the options for each system, and everything is still pointed where they should be. And if I manually go in game by game and add them it shows up. It just won't refresh and add ALL the artwork back. Mind you I only have Box, Wheel, and Videos for each game separated. I uploaded a couple pics to help explain my point. In pic 1 you can see that I have the box art set to where it should be. In pic 2 it's just showing that the art is in fact in the folder I have Launchbox looking for. And pic 3 is just to show that I have Atari 2600 with the same settings and it is showing the art as it should.
  19. First I'm not looking to break the bank on this, Trying to keep it around the $1000 mark. My goal: To be able to play up to 6th Gen (PS2, DC, GCN) games at native resolutions without taking any real performance hits. Going for authenticity and portability more so than HD. Also, kind of a pick up and go set up. Easy to plug and play with any modern TV. This will also be the ONLY thing the PC will be used for. No high end gaming, just an emulation box. Here's the build I'm going with currently: Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini-ITX Mobo: MSI Intel Skylake H110 CPU: Intel Core i5 7500K GPU: ASUS Nvidia GTX 1030 RAM: Corsair Vengeance (8GB) SSD: Samsung 850 EVO (250 GB) HDD: Western Digital Blue (6 TB) PSU: Corsair SFX 450 Watt Plus odds and ends likes OS, Coolers, Fans, Controllers, etc. So please, if you see anything that's far too under powered for what I'm trying to achieve, or something that's more cost effective, please say so! Thanks!
  20. I used to have "everything" for the systems I bother with (around 25 + arcade stuff). Now I'm trying to narrow it down to just stuff released in USA, and then adding in choice stuff from PAL and Japan over time. The hardest part is finding a comprehensive list of games for every system, which you'd think would be easy.
  21. I can say, I simply stopped having the issue, but I also haven't been shutting launchbox on and off as often either.
  22. I launch in Big Box mode, so no, I do not have a different one, but I mean, it's such a simple picture, you can swap colors easily with any paintbucket tool. As for saving it forever? I mean, you could upload it to some sort of cloud service? Also, I did convert it for you, but when converting to an .ico it shrinks the picture, so I've got the orginal edited picture + and the .ico version. Launchbox.ico
  23. Don's Tools don't work unless you have a Hyperspin install anyway. Someone was working on a conversion for LaunchBox, but the thread appears to be abandoned. What about for CD based systems? I love no-intro, but I've never seen anything comparable for say PSX, Dreamcast. etc. I know there's redump, but I don't think those lists are as complete?
  24. I make all my own icons for my dock on my PC, I don't know if this is the sort of thing you're looking for?
