Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I have recently purchase an Alienware Alpha R2 i7 Model for an all round beast of an HTPC/Gaming setup for my main TV, this comes with an Nvidia 960, 8GB Ram and a 6th Gen i7.
When buying I opted for a 256gb M2 SSD (OS) and a secondary drive which is a 7200RPM 1TB HDD (Storage) , the original plan was to leave the OS drive alone and load up the storage drive with all my roms/isos for emulators/LaunchBox.
I am overall very happy with the machine and it peforms great with Steam games and anything I throw at it but Ive had one issue from the day I got I just cannot seem to solve - when playing Wii/GC/PSX/PS2/PSP games from the SSD they run 100% perfect as expected, but when running from the HDD (Storage) they get a 1 or 2 second spike in FPS every minute or so or when something big happens, I have tried everything under the sun and no luck. Any light on the subject or even a way to fix it would be an amazing help. The HDD as far as I know is a cheaper WD drive but is still definatly 7200 rpm, I have also tried loading the same games from a usb flash drive and appear to get no issues on that either
Sorry for the life story
Joe
