    Hey guys. Quick question.

How do I do the "swap discs" option in the new pause screens? I have tried Final Fantasy VII PBP, cue and m3u files and no swap discs option appears anywhere.  I know how to swap discs in RetroArch itself though.

You will need to add a script in Tools/Manage Emulators/Retroarch/Pause Screen/Swap Disk.

when I load state using lib_mame with retroarch i get palette, tile view, gfx pop ups in retroarch.

I tested it without pause and it's not happening.

That is a issue with using MAME inside of Retroarch. F4 is the default load state key for Retroarch, but with the MAME core loaded that takes the input of F4 instead, which shows the palette screen, just as it would on standalone MAME if you pressed F4 during a game. MAME has its own save and load state buttons.

Much appreciated, that worked perfectly! Is there somewhere I can find documentation about the various settings and options for LaunchBox/BigBox and what they do, or is it mainly just the forums and tutorial videos on youtube? Thanks again for the help.

There is nothing official really, if you have any questions then feel free to ask here on the forums and we will do our best to answer them.

So I set updated lb/bb and I have the pause screen working in mame/arcade but it’s not working for games for nes/snes etc, what else needs enabled?

If it is setup and working for MAME then it should also work with Retroarch. Go to Tools/Manage Emulators/Retroarch/Pause Screens and make sure it is actually turned on for that emulator.

    Hey guys,

I just updated to the final/release version of LB/BB on my main retrogamer machine, which I have connected to a big screen TV.  In order to read things properly I have windows scaling set to 150%.  On that machine, when I launch LB I get an odd mix of font sizes.  Some are regular (150%) and some are not (100%), making some really hard to read from a distance.  The only way I found to correct this was to to bypass scaling in the comparability tab in LB (right-click / properties in Windows) options.  Problem is, my Windows also just updated to the 1903 release of Windows 10 that same day, and I hadn't launched LB/BB after that was done either... so I don't know if the issue is with LB/BB and scaling, or if 1903 changed something on my machine.  Anyway, I thought I'd report it in case others are seeing the same thing, and it might be something that needs to be addressed.

Here are some screenshots to show what I mean:
ss3.thumb.png.a37de29ae64e8a93507beee8fb419245.pngAbove image (some text is large, some are tiny)

ss4.thumb.png.f0d91744b163e5ff0ac96a54b3c98270.pngAbove image - Change settings to change high dpi settings

ss5.thumb.png.d1fffc432e5c1bc14c6361686af23c28.pngAbove image - All fonts/text back to same size again

I just checked here at 150% scaling on a 4K TV and the font sizes are all uniform for me, i usually use 200% scaling so i changed to 150% and rebooted and it seems fine for me. I am also on 1903 but from a earlier insider build.

image.thumb.png.f67a1f2bf5525aec3b0284ffa591ba93.pngAre you at 1080p with scaling or another resolution?

    Hi all,

I just mapped my button for the pause menu, but it won't show as an active window. I have to tab out and tab in to the pause menu. I tested it with retroarch. When I manually tab into the menu it's working just fine.... Any ideas???

    Do your settings match these?

At this point I don't know what to answer.
Perhaps you have imported the old retroarch configuration, and therefore some function has remained unchanged. I have reconfigured everything from scratch and so maybe the problem comes out.
Even the bezel in retroarch 1.7.7 has problems starting a game if you don't turn OFF the new Menu WIdget.

Then it sounds like you have a configuration issue with Launchbox/Retroarch. My Retroarch 1.7.7 was also a fresh configuration, i started from scratch with 1.7.7 it is a completely new configuration with zero old configurations used.

    mame64.exe -keyboardprovider dinput File

Since this command has been put into Mame as a default command parameter nothing is running anymore.

    Im running Mame version 0.160

Am I right that this means the command is not recognised in this version of mame.

Hmm possible i suppose.I am running MAME 0.209 and it works just fine there.

image.thumb.png.3956b28a9cb1aba60aa5279847edf474.pngI always used Hyperspin with Rocketlauncher, now im trying to add Rocketlauncher to LaunchBox/Bigbox, so, my problem is, im trying to add bigbox to my Frontends list on Rocketlauncher, but i got some pluggin problems. Someone know how to find those plugins to bigbox?

Those are not Bigbox/Launchbox plugins it wants in that dropdown, just pick the one the name of the dropdown is asking for would be my guess.

You're going to have to walk through the steps of exactly what you did, as Launchbox is designed to be portable, what you're experiencing isn't supposed to happen, and actually seems impossible unless you duplicated your first install and tried to move that to the main drive.

If I had to guess, which I do, you tried to duplicate at least some of the files (maybe so you didn't have to import everything again in your second install). I'm not sure if there is a way to fix that after the fact, but a fresh install should not react to your previous install at all provided they are in different directories.

Either that or he is still using the same shortcut to launch, which is a shortcut to the other install.

Thanks. That worked for the Gameboy, but I'm still having the same issue with the Gameboy Color.

'Launch With' is still grayed out.

1270023673_LaunchWith.PNG.6845a35da9a707fefcda839d50b4d4bc.PNGI did notice that there's two file names under 'Launch With' that doesn't appear on other systems. In the above picture, you can see the game ' 720 Degrees'  appears twice, even though there is only one ROM file.

Checking the Core, appears to be correct. In LaunchBox

    2064227121_gameboycolorlaunchbox.thumb.PNG.828c79606fcd46aa1af62c483551c707.PNGAnd the Core in Retroarch.

    265561653_retroarchcore.thumb.PNG.4af3badabbb9ee0fc05bb61365ea1d10.PNG

So any ideas how to get 'Launch With' working again?

    Thanks

If you only have one emulator associated with a platform then you wont have a "launch with" option as there are no other emulators that are setup that work with that system, you would need another entry in the associated platform list listing a different core to use.

Also i would recommend using the "sameboy" core for game boy and gameboy colour.

Well since I spelled it the same in both it should be okay but I fixed the spelling anyway ?. Also here is what the emulator details look like for a game. It’s blank like it’s not configured.image.thumb.jpg.374bf0c7c2dde084b70fdda48bc2c728.jpg

Yeah its not using Retroarch, like i anticipated, you either imported without a emulator attached, or you were using another emulator that you then deleted, so the games do not know to use retroarch.

Click a platform on the left then on a game in that platform, use CTRL A to highlite all the games in that platform, right click one and choose edit, this will open the bulk edit wizard. Click next then in the first dropdown choose emulator, then in the second that appears Retroarch, finish out the wizard. You will need to do this for all systems you want to use retroacrh for.

I have closed and re opened it yes. Still missing cores for the games even though I know they are there. If I click on a game it says that the emulator specified doesn’t exist.

It seems to be set up perfectly fine but it’s not working... any ideas?

Can you show me images of your Associated Platform tab for Retroarch and also, right click a game that should be using retroarch, go to edit, then the emulation tab and take a shot of that please, like this.

Okay so that’s how I thought it was supposed to be set up but I’m still missing the core files to my emulators. The files are in my directory so I’m at a loss still. Also sorry for the cellphone pics. My internet is really slow and it’s faster.

Have you closed and re-opened Launchbox? You should just need to go to Tools/Manage Emulators and double click Retroarch, then go to the associated platform tab.

Hey all I’m having this issue where my games will not launch through Retroarch. While they work just fine in Retroarch launch box won’t launch them. I have 3 emulators configured through LB but it says I’m missing core files even though I have triple checked I am not. I’ve searched through numerous of these threads and can’t find a solution. Please help!

The first issue i see there is you called the emulator "mesen", dont do that call it retroarch. When it is named correctly you should have a long list of platforms in the "Associated Platform" tab of your screenshot. Next to the platform names will be a dropdown, if you double click that you can pick the core from the menu.

It's the same thing as when you select exit. It flashes to the game for about 0.5 seconds and then loads the state.

It needs to do so as its sending a key press to the emulator. That key press can not be sent if the emulator window does not have focus.

no idea what I'm doing wrong I can't get keyboard automation working with TAITO or Daphne games using 1 keyboard press. I'm using a batch file to run both systems.

Is the only point of Keyboard/Controller automation to allow multiple button presses to do something?

Yes, keyboard automation works the same way as controller automation, you need to use two keys, one as a hold and another as a exit.
