  1. I love the ability in BigBox to select the manual or game art from the menu. However, it would be useful to be able to do this in-game, rather than having to exit and re-start the game to do so.

Is this currently possible? If not then can it be? In Hyperspin, Hyperpause does just that. Thanks!

  2. That's great! I wonder if I could be so bold as to ask something else of you?

I really like the full screen video view for categories and platforms. But I would really like to have some category/platform information too. I know that you can change the view in your theme to have the video a bit smaller with information at the bottom of the screen, but this doesn't look nearly as good in my humble opinion.

I wonder if it would be possible for you to add some information to the full screen video view, with the information overlaying the video? Obviously not overlaying the picture of the console or the game video itself, but at the blank space at the top or bottom of the screen?

What would be great would be to have the following text information displayed in the above manner:

Details: Year, Total Games, Manufacturer, CPU, Display, Media

    Description: (the standard category/platform description)

    Would this be possible?

you can also use ctl+left click to highlight multiple games then use ctrl+e to open the bulk edit wizard and change the platform to NES Hacked or whatever you named it

I can't add a platform that has no games, and I can't change the platform of existing games to NES Hacked because I can't create it!! This is some kind of catch22!

  4. Truly great work for the cause Viking! Many thanks. I just downloaded a couple of the platform videos in 16:9. My favourite view is the one where the platform video fills the whole screen. A problem I have with that view just now is that the wheel/menu disappears after about a second using that theme. It reappears if I press up or down to scroll, but I would prefer it to stay as I think it looks a bit odd with the wheel missing.

Is the wheel supposed to disappear, and if so how can I make it stay? Many thanks!

PS is there a list somewhere of all the platforms/categories/playlists supported in this pack?

  5. Ah! Wouldn't it be better if it did show in the sidebar, just with no associated games? Then the user could add games to that platform as they wish.

What I am actually trying to do, is to move the "hacked" versions of NES games out of my NES platform and into a separate platform which I would names something like NES - hacked. I would obviously want this new platform to be listed in the console category along with NES. What would be the best way to go about doing this?

  6. Sorry for the high noobness level of this query, but something is odd here.

In LB, I go to add platform in the side bar. I pick an example one - give it a title, a sort title and a category, and tell it to scrape as NES. I click OK, but the platform does not appear in the platform menu!

    Am I missing something?

  7. Must have done something wrong the first time. Followed the instructions above and theme videos seem to be downloaded fine. Items without box art are showing the game screen instead (though still think that a default image of a floppy with the game name written in it would be better). I pointed the LB video folder at my old HS video folder so I didn’t have to DL a lot of the videos again.

Oh, and thanks exo, like Meagre, this is looking amazing.

EDIT: I have just run all my eXoDOS games through the media downloader, selecting to only download high quality videos from EmuMovies and absolutely nothing else. It seems to be running fine and fetching the vids without affecting anything else.

I tried doing this, downloading only the gameplay videos and the theme videos, though it seems to have affected a lot of my games - I now have duplicates, and some games which should have artwork are missing it! Deleted all of LB and am downloading the torrent again to start afresh.

Also if youre going to scrape for sound and videos beware because a LOT of the games are named incorrectly in the LB games database and it will probably corrupt you existing eXoDOS media. I believe eXo and another member are gradually going through and correcting the database game by game.

Why would it affect the existing artwork media if I am only scraping for the game video?

  10. Took over 5 minutes. I haven't re-run the setup.bat again.

I'm wondering if these particular games just don't have covers. Do they have covers on yours?

Also - does the exoDOS collection have sound or video samples? Don't seem to see any in LB.

  11. Just ran setup....how do we know when it has finished? My CMD window appears to have stopped inflating files, and it says "1 file copied" at the bottom (though it seemed to inflate many files just not 1). And the window just stays there when finished.

Also - the folder structure is now D:\launchbox\exodos, with the exodos folder containing the launchbox files. This seems a bit messy, as the launchbox folder is empty apart from the exodos folder. Can I move everything that is in the exodos folder up 1 level into the launchbox folder, so that launchbox.exe is in the launchbox folder?

Plus a lot of the games have no cover art (see below) - is this expected behaviour? Just checking I've done it right :)
