  1. I'm still relatively new here and build this cave within a few weeks, behind the screens I'm also helping out in moderating for the game database everyday and creating/photoshopping graphics for future releases as well as working on a theme, bezels and collecting data to expand my collection for Big Box. The cave is still not finished yet, have to do some sweet black/UV-light and arcade/retrogaming artwork from Etsy to finish it off.

Today I finally finished my mini gameroom (check it out @jaceroni), the square (check carpet boundaries) inside the small room is about 2x2 meters lol. I just installed and setup my last addition; the marquee screen. I was a bit nervous it wouldn't work out as I hoped it would but it did. My pc has only a HDMI and VGA port so I had to use the VGA port. It's a bit of a risk as the screen (the cheap 21:9, LG 25UM58-p) native resolution is 2560x1080, not possible through my VGA. I got a VGA-HDMI converter from Startech which outputs 1920x1080 max through VGA which is very nice but to get a good aspect ratio on 21:9 in 1920 you'll have to set (in my case I had to hack the registry for the old AMD HD 7660) the resolution to 1920x810 and it friggin worked! At this distance I can hardly even see the difference between 2560 and 1920 as the screen is pretty small. But for the future I'm set when switching to a different system which will support the UHD 49 inch screens resolution and the 2560 on the marquee screen. The carpet was cheap, the recliner was a second hand for 40 euro as was the media cabinet. Behind the 49 inch I placed 2 cheap led strips to get a bit of that Philips ambiance vibe.

On the screen you'll also see a theme/project I'm working on which is based on Futurestate by @Hexxxer whom very kindly gave me permission to release it in the future. It's still in a very early beta stage and I'm planning to release the theme with custom and cut out high res arcade cabinet images, as well as cut out arcade carts/pcb's and more. I'm still thinking about the theme's name, something like 'Futurestate Neon Deluxe'.

I think that covers it I guess :) I can't say it enough, everyone should have a marquee screen, it looks amazing with those beautiful high res marquee artworks out there, it really adds to the experience, there's some amazing bezels out there as well which will make the experience even more complete in my opinion, ofcourse a real cabinet is even cooler but I'm not that handy so this is my alternative path, I'm in heaven now lol :)

I've just got the standard, static marquee for now, but I too have thought about a dynamic marquee screen.

Would you mind sharing your screen builder resource with me? I'd love to have a digital marquee that changes the artwork based on the game.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

Yeah we should all get a dynamic marquee! Those beautiful high res marquee files are screaming to get up on a nice second display haha ;) I've read quite a few posts on the internet where people buy insanely expansive stretched lcd bar displays, some people have the money to do so but for 600 euro I rather buy a faster pc and such lol. So I go the cheaper route, I chose the LG 25MU58-p, it's around 169 euro over here, there are even larger variants than 25 or 29 inch from LG: http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-25UM58-P-ultrawide-monitor (search for 21:9 or ultra wide display for alternatives) Some people even manage to adjust their cabs build and hide the screen parts of an affordable 16:9 monitor (also a consideration if your pc-unit can't handle 21:9 or wider resolutions). You can also adjust the code in marquee view files in a big box theme to line out and scale the image to custom tune your screen and build, I still have to fiddle with those files once I've got everything set up. I'm a bit nervous for tommorow as my game pc hasn't got a second hdmi out so I'll have to go the vga to hdmi converter route and scale the max res (hopefully 1920 with a bit of gpu fiddling) image up which can hopefully be done within the screen's settings. In the future i'll be able to attach it to a more compatible modern build. Luxury problems lol.

  3. Hope to see more of the ride along the way, i'm in the proces of building my mancave/gameroom I'll post some photos soon as well. Im not that handy in making a cabinet so I took the alternative way with a second screen as a marquee above the main screen, tommorow the 21:9 display will finally arrive, will you add a dynamic marquee screen as well in your cabinet?

  4. I'm starting to collect all high res marquees that I can find on the internet from all places, but I'm not sure if I can just share here what I have at the moment as I'm still very new in the emulation scene and not sure about all the rules yet and want to respect everyone. Any how I'm in the proces of collecting, creating and organizing system by system I have a good collection for CPS1 at the moment and made some marquees myself as I couldnt find Nemo and MegaTwins marquees anywhere. Pnickies is such a rarity I cant even find high res ads or fronts lol. This week Im finally getting a 21:9 display to drool and stare at the many wonderful marquees the scene has made. Also in the proces of making a new theme which will use the arcade cabinet images which will be a huge project in itself to make transparent pngs of the highest res cabinets out there, ok I'm drifting off topic in all my entusiasm for launchbox, gaming, graphics and the community it simply rules all in all :)

  5. I'm working on a theme and would like to use the images in the arcade section as well, like cabinet, marquee and controls for instance. Anyone know which code I should use for a selected game? At the moment I'm using the images for Arcade Cabinet as Front Cart but this is very limited as I need big cabinet images and smaller Cart images seperatly in the same layout. Any help would be very appreciated! :)

!Update!: Never mind I use the 3D Cart placeholder for Arcade Cabinets now.
