    Cheers mate. The Japanese NO CD parent is present in the build. I also wanted the Euro/English NO CD version in addition, hence why I included 'jojobane'. But looking at this list it has indeed been changed to 'jojobaner1' for the most recent 990927 build. Scratch that, the euro version is the parent.... derrr. Looks like they changed more with this one that I realised. @ktdre change jojobane to jojobaner1 to fix this Use the parent jojoba for the moment. What website is this BTW? @JoeViking245

    Yeah those games are known as TTL games. In other words 'built into MAME' so no need for roms as such. Zips are really just placeholders/launchers for those 6. I'll include blank zips for those games in the future to save confusion, although I thought I already did. As for jojobane, this is likely a rom name change by mame. It was a new entry at the time, and a new one has been found superseding it..... out of existence lol. It's still there, just absorbed by another entry. I think jojoban is the one you wanna use instead, but will need to double check. Thanks for spotting these.

    Yes, you can change the metadata all you like. And yes, 3543 is the true number. After some final faffing I had to remove 7 useless entries after I posted the description. The 7 that are showing as missing are probably due to MAME changing some names as you suggested. These are easily identifiable with an audit, or just scan for missing roms and you'll get a clear list. I take it you are on the newest rom set? BTW, there are about 40 games that need adding.

    This is everything in one! No need to grab the others. Yes, I have a few config ideas. Just finished up the Super Famicom T-En one. As for controls I wanna do N64, identify the games where the yellow directional buttons shouldn't be on the right stick, for e.g. fighters. Also, Jaguar.... man I wanna do this one next. Jaguar is great but that controller doesn't transfer to modern ones at all. I've figured out which one don't use the keypad at all. Now just to configure the ones that do. Yes, collaborative efforts are gonna be needed. I'm one guy biting off more than they can chew left and right. This project in particular needs fully organising into something like Airtable, then plugging into a website for easy access. It's a lot to do, but at this point it's do or die for this one.

    Dude, thank you so much for this. I had no idea this existed. Looks like he was trying to achieve what we are here, with official naming. Looks like most of the links are down but there's enough for me to learn from his ideas. I wonder if he knows the groundwork he put down is still being used? Seems like not a lot of people adopted it back then, but now it's more handy than ever with the sheer amount of translations and hacks. Gonna bring it back!

    They aren't the best covers out there. But they are the most uniform and most importantly...complete. There are better image sets for sure but, never anything complete. I've done the best I can with what is out there. I'd rather lesser quality and no gaps, than nicer images with gaps everywhere. What do you propose?

    For the longest time I've wanted to put together a definitive Super Famicom platform, but exclusively for games that are playable in English. There's a lot of translations out there, and going through each of those to compile a definitive list is no small feat. But now, thankfully and mercifully, there are a couple of different resources to track every Japanese SNES game with a translation. The best definitive list of translations with all the info you could need, is this one here https://backloggd.com/u/lockstepper/list/the-complete-list-of-snessfc-games-fan-translated/ I had simply compiled a list of all translations. This crazy person has tested each one, culling the list down to what is ACTUALLY playable in English! Some incomplete translations are fully playable, others are not, only having the title screen changed any nothing else, for an RPG lol. This person has stripped out all games that really aren't playable in English, and identified which translations are best to use, if there are multiple. Truly the best list for translations I have ever seen. So, of course my list is derived from theirs. If you are having to patch your games, you ABSOLUTLY need to check out the that list. "Rules" for the Project Now, there aren't really any "rules" when it comes to translations and Japanese platforms. Especially with game titles. A Japanese game can have its original title, the English translation title... and it's western release title, which can be different to the Japanese to English translation. Confusing...yes. Also, artwork in general is a bit of a nightmare for Japanese games. Finding full unified 3D boxes that actually cover the full library is tough, and Box - Fronts can be different sizes depending on the source, causing my OCD to throw a fit. Another point is the rom association with the DB. A lot of time has gone into ensuring all games and their artwork are correctly associated under the proper DB ID. Some games when imported under the translated title will catch a RomHACK ID or something completely different due to the difference in title, not on my watch. Anyway, the rules I have applied for this platform are as follows. 1G1R. Only 1 game per entry ONLY Japanese unified artwork for Box Fronts, 3D boxes, 2D Carts and Clear Logos. I took most of the clear logos from @BeBopSin's Core pack, as they focused on Japanese only art. Game titles set to the translated English title. This aligns the game name and title screen. Keep in mind not all translations have a translated title. Only the better translations with improvements (if any) listed/imported. (No FastROM hacks as I keep those in a separate platform) Artwork NOT named to Rom name. Instead I exported the images via the media pack maker, which names art to the DB entry, not the ROM name. This is best for 'ADD ROMS' situations. NO non Japanese translations. This includes French games translated to English, and Japanese games only translated to anything other than English. Strictly Japanese to English here. NO Satellaview exclusives. This is really it's own platform and doesn't belong here. Satellaview will be covered separately, in depth, as it has loads of "confusing crossover" with the normal Super Famicom library. Now here comes the nasty part. ROM NAMING. Despite there not really being any solid naming standard, mostly looking like this... Dragon Quest III (Japan) [T-En] ....one has emerged and it looks like this..... Dragon Quest III (Japan) [T-En by DQ Translations v1.1] [Add by Rod Mérida v1.0c] [SNES Mini] [i] [n] Yes it's long, but information rich. Losing track of what you have applied to which rom is the WORST. Name them like this so you know exactly what's going on and be able to backtrack. This way, we know who done the original translation along with the version, who made the addendums (if any) and any other additional info such as 'SNES Mini' or 'improvement patch x' applied on top. [i] means Incomplete - [n] means the title screen has been changed to it's translated title Some people don't change the Rom title to it's translated name, opting to keep the original Japanese title. THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE. If a game has a translated title, the general rule of thumb is to rename the rom to match, which is what has been done here. The fact this naming convention is the same as the best 'resource' out there is completely coincidental INSTRUCTIONS (Back up yo s*it if you need to) Download images and platform xml from this page Make sure LB is NOT running Place Super Famicom platform xml into correct place... Data--> Platforms Start LB Super Famicom platform should then appear in LB, if not, restart LB. Place 3D Boxes, Boxes, Cart Front & Clear Logo folders into.... Images --> Super Famicom Change roms file path to where you Super Famicom roms are. Click on any Super Famicom game, press Ctrl+A to sellect all games, go to Tools top left, go to File Management and select 'Change Roms Folder Path For Selected Games', select your folder location for Super Famicom games, and hit OK. If you have the correct source, rom names should be the same. If not... you have your work cut out for you. You can rename your roms to match how they are imported, or you can change the file name LB is expecting by.... Right Clicking on a game, edit Metadata and then change the launching path and name to match yours. This will be painstaking work. Make sure your emulator is setup AND ASSOCIATED with the Super Famicom Platform. I wanna try to mitigate the main issue of rom names, and getting your specific roms associated to the correct games if you don't have the same naming convention. If people can let me know how they name their translation roms I'll put out an additional xml with those commonly used names instead. If anyone knows of a better way to..... like....reverse import!?...., please do let me know. LISTS IN ANY CASE. This is the FULL list of every game with a translation in this Project using the best translations (I hope). There are also some Japanese games already in English that don't need patching listed at the bottom, of course these are also in the build. I the list you will see the translated name if there is one, and MOST importantly the LB Database ID. The ID's are paramount to tracking these entries and their associated translated titles. You can use these IDs if building yourself, they come in handy to say the least. With the rom name descriptors, you should be able to find those translations/patches with google, if you need to use these. If you see anything incorrect or you see a "technically inferior" translation, drop a comment. This list will of course grow as new translations are released. Again, if you know of any new ones let us know.     Awesome!! Once I've done my current project I'll hit 3DO, as its first alphabetically and is in need of unifying images. Plus, Redump have hit this platform hard recently and quite a few game titles have changed, thus no longer catch a DB ID.

    Excellent! I'm constantly changing metadata and images for my own build and often think that changing it direct in the database would be better for everyone, rather than being selfish. If I pick a smaller platform to update entirely and organise the images (like 3DO as I just finished my perfect setup) what kinda things are gonna be locked off to me?

    I too have a... penchant... for data. All the underlying stuff works great. It's more the entries themselves that get a bit messy over time. Are they maintained by the community, and/or is it someone's job to "look after" the entries and platforms on the DB? The DB is the backbone for sure, and the best importer out there by like a mile But, I feel it can be made "perfect" if everything was a bit more uniform and definitive with the entries and images.

    This is awesome stuff!! More platforms natively supported is excellent. Are there any plans to tidy up or overhaul existing platforms? There's quite a lot of junk and duplicate entries, along with titles that are combined that should be separate, and vice versa. As redump and no intro have changed some titles over the years the DB doesn't catch all games in newer sets, as they've not been updated with the new possible title. Updating the images to be unified would also be awesome. Do you guys have a dedicated guy with OCD on the database? Nudge wink!

    Japanese exclusive games are always interesting. To non Japanese speakers it's an entirely unexplored library of games waiting to be discovered. However, the obvious barrier is the language. We of course get fan translations to overcome this obstacle, and with their rising popularity it's awesome to play these games frustration free. But, we also have games that don't have a translation but are still totally enjoyable. Sometimes Japanese only releases are entirely in English, or have a mix of Japanese & English with enough English to be able to play. Other times the Language barrier is there but the game itself has minimal text, menus and/or story, making it pretty easy to play. Of course there are some games that are just unplayable unless you are fluent with Japanese text, mainly RPG story based games or 'menu bashing' games. I tested the games without a translation to see if the language barrier was an issue, then take note of the ones that are totally playable for me as an English only speaker & reader (with a low tolerance for frustration).     @crusadeRGP You cant do that with this emulator. You need to set a resolution smaller than your screen and make sure windowed is selected, to get a window at that resolution.

    @StanTheManDarsh You were doing the pizza when you wanna French fry. That issue happens when ya mouse and controller are clashing inputs. You did the correct thing instinctively, by removing rawinput you are removing the mouse as an issue. If you have no intention of using mice or lightguns, remove rawinput from all the light gun games and ya golden. You can still use a mouse if ya want, but only one as rawinput is off.

    @retrospace hi mate, there aren't xmls for the retroarch version of this config. I fully recommend the standalone version you posted for everything. RA cant run a few games so standalone is now KING! Takes a bit more to setup but totally worth it

    Sorry to leave you hanging. The emulator doesn't allow you to use controllers with the light gun games. Joy2key is the only way to get around this. Which I see you have figured out, glad you got it sorted.

    Thanks mate. Damn I have no idea to be honest. There are wayy too many variables to hone in on what could be happening. It could be an emulator issue or a system issue. Sorry to be useless here.
