dalehitchy
I have about 100 roms and some only work in Mame 2003 RetroArch Core and others in 2010 / 2014. Is there a way to get specific roms to use a different core? I don't know what it is about mame roms and emulators that i find confusing so maybe im doing something wrong and there is an easier way. Jason Carr
Hi @dalehitchy, MAME can be very tricky. Your best bet is to find a complete set of MAME ROMs that works with the latest versions of MAME.
Lordmonkus
Like Jason said your best bet is to get an updated rom set and use a newer build of stand alone Mame. But to answer your question specifically, if you are using Retroarch Mame and wish to use a different core for a specific game. Right click the game and edit, then go to the emulation tab of the edit window. Turn on Use Custom Command-Line Parameter and enter the following: -L "cores\core_name.dll" Obviously edit the core_name to match the name of the core dll you want for that game.
Zombeaver
You can also setup separate emulator entries for separate cores. If you have a large number of games that need to be switched from one to another that's what I would recommend. I have instructions for doing that in the following post:
