AmiGamer
Where am I to download roms and emulators ? What form are they in (zip, exe, ect) ? What are the better web sites to download from ? Are there more than one emulator for each game available ? Which are the better choices ? And where can I find them ? I see a 'Games DB' here at Launchbox, but I couldn't find a way to actually download roms and emulators from there. Is that it's purpose ? If so. how do you download from there ? Thank you.... master333
This is a front end application for your existing roms and emulators. Roms and emulators you have to figure out yourself. There is help on the forums and video guides done by the team. To start you off I can recommend you look at retroarch which is multiple emulators in 1. DOS76
ROMs you definitely have to find on your own but emulators aren't copyrighted material and can be linked here on the forums. I would suggest RetroArch also but kind of reluctantly because it isn't usually some ones 1st emulator but it is good and there are some basic tutorials so depending on your understanding of Windows ie file paths and command line this could turn out to be extremely hard or not all that difficult. Either way people will try to assist you so feel free to ask about anything other than where to obtain copyrighted material ie ROMs and BIOS files. AmiGamer
Thank you for the links and advice guys. It was very helpful. One thing though for the latest version 1.3.6 there are two versions of RetroArch in the Win x86_64bit folder on the website. One labeled RetroArch.7z and the other 2016-07-17_RetroArch.7z. Which one do you use ? https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.3.6/windows/x86_64/ Edited October 8, 2016 by AmiGamer
DOS76
The larger file the smaller one I believe is just to update if you already have the program.
Lordmonkus
If you're doing a fresh install get the biggest one which is Retroarch.7z. It will have all the necessary files for it to work. The smaller dated one is just the exe and a few files, it won't have everything needed for a fresh install.
