Newlander
Hi guys ,. just wondering if I'm able to bind exit to ctrl+p? if so how can i do this? Thank you
SentaiBrad
Controller Automation functions are tied to a controller only at the moment, but Jason is interested in expanding it to more functions and allowing them to be keyboard bind-able so that it can have a lot more uses (most commonly will probably be arcade sticks). At least I assume you're talking about the controller automation exit function, if not then please correct me.
Newlander
i want to be able to use a combination of two buttons to exit menus or exit games
SentaiBrad
Yea so the controller automation functions, but with a keyboard. So yea, Jason does want to expand the amount of functions, provide custom functions and open it up to use keyboard buttons as well in the future. Newlander
I'm a bit stuck at the moment then haha , back to the drawing board
SentaiBrad
If you are using a controller, open up the options menu in LaunchBox or Big Box, and go to the Automation sections, and set the hold key, then the function keys, but only with a controller currently. Newlander
im using two zero delay encoders would that count as a controller?
SentaiBrad
If they emulate keyboard presses, then no, but if they utilize Xinput, then yes. If your controller shows up in the Controller Options menu in LaunchBox, you should be good to go.
Newlander
i have them setup through xpadder
SentaiBrad
Then yea, unfortunately for Automation to currently work it will require a PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller. Even the latest Logitech PC controllers will work too, they just need to be using controller drivers for PC.
Newlander
damn haha oh well ill have to make do until its added to LB , i should be able to make a macro key and bind that for the two keys? that might work
SentaiBrad
Though, now that I am thinking about it, all you need is the ability to run an AHK script, which is all we essentially use. Grab the default AHK script from within LaunchBox and be able to run that with a keyboard command. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it from within Xpadder or just download AHK directly. Newlander
LB wouldn't let me bind a macro to the exit command not too familiar with AHK
SentaiBrad
No, because it only allows controller keys to be used. AHK is AutoHotKey, so without Jason adding in that extra functionality, you'd have to go the long way about doing it, unless someone else happens to know of an easier method. However, the script to exit the currently opened window is available when you edit an emulator on the AHK tab (I recall it being the exit script), so you just use that in conjunction with AHK stand alone. DOS76
I have the zero delay encoders in my new arcade machine they function as a gamepad and not a keyboard if I recall correctly but I'm not sure they use X-Input. Are you having issues getting the controller automation to work in LB with it?
SentaiBrad
Well it doesn't need to be exactly xinput, as long as they show up as controllers in LaunchBox, then that is your big sign that Automation should also work, xinput is just very common. DOS76
I just tested mine by setting the CA up and it is working great using the 7 and 8 button which are my 1player and coin buttons so they are hard to hit by accident.
