SBSneetch
The startup video I have plays when I launch bigbox, but it plays on the marquee montor (2) instead of the main monitor (1). Is there a way to change this or even better to play on both at same time (just the startup vid)? I tried to search for the answer, but couldn't find anything about it. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Jason Carr
That is a known issue unfortunately, @SBSneetch. We use VLC to play the video on startup and haven't yet found a way to specify which monitor to use. It is on my list though.
SBSneetch
Good deal. It looks cool up there too. heh Thanks for the quick response and all the efforts! I am enjoying launchbox/bigbox so far, still setting it up. Yet that is all part of the fun. Thanks!!
porterballs
just to ask i'm not sure what setup you have but are you running it on windows?
DOS76
The program only runs on Windows so he has to be.
porterballs
lol yea that was a dumb response on my part, just going to say if your on a NVIDIA card go to control panel "setup multiple displays" and clone your screens. That's one way i can think of having the display on both.
DOS76
Yeah that may work changing which screen is seen as the primary screen by the system itself.
SBSneetch
Yeah it is a windows 7 i5 5th gen box in an arcade cab The duplicate monitor option is a good thought and would work if I wanted everything mirrored all the time, but alas, just looking for the intro vid to play on the main screen (or both screens) and then return to normal, main display for bigbox and the 2nd monitor for the marquee. This is how I had Hyperspin setup and it was great. Unfortunately I had a couple updates run and it messed up HS something good. I thought I would give LB/BB a go to see how that worked before restoring I prior backup. Including a pic of the cab if interested.
Jason Carr
Wow, nice cab @SBSneetch. @DOS76 mentioned changing the primary screen, and that might actually work well; it's worth a shot. You can do that in display settings.
SBSneetch
Looks like my issue is tied to my hardware. I have a laptop lcd panel using dvi connector to the Motherboard GPU and an analog CRT connected to a gtx750ti. It is setup this way to allow the CRT to be ptimary display. If i attempt to place both displays on one GPU the LCD panel takes priority as primary without option to force it the other way. so that is likely why vlc is going to the LCD first and unless i change from CRT to LCD for primary I believe the intro will always play on the marquee. thats ok as i prefer the CRT for my old school gaming fun.
DOS76
In BB you can specify which is primary and which is marquee so if you changed them in Windows you could always change the settings in BB to be what you need and I know RA and MAME at least have the ability to specify which monitor you want to use so I'm sure you could get it working how you want it with a little tweaking.
SBSneetch
Good point. Will give that a go this evening and post back my findings. Thanks!
SBSneetch
Did a quick test, set LCD as primary (1) and CRT as extended (2) in windows display properties and launched BigBox. The intro vid played on the LCD. Then checked BB > general > display settings and it shows Primary as 1 and Marquee as 2. Yet, The main menu of BB was on the CRT and the Marquee on the LCD. Why that is I am not sure, as I would expect in that setting the main display would be the LCD (1) for the test. For now, I am setting this one aside as it is only 15 seconds at startup and then the real reason we are here begins, playing games. Thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it.
