Odd question about the forum

So I have this issue on all my PC's running chrome that when I hit the enter key to go to the next line it kind of makes a large space

Its very consistent and annoying, is this a setting somewhere I can change. I feel insane just for asking, like some internet rookie.

Weird. What's even weirder is that there's no large space showing up there for me. Does it show up for you in the post above after you've posted?

It does a different type of break depending on whether you just press enter:

(like this)

Or if you hold shift and press enter:
(like this)

Yep that's it, but why do you have to use shift+enter for the standard spacing? Thanks though.

Really it's just typical forum shenanigans. Helpful to some people but annoying to others lol.

Ahhh okay. Honestly the first time I had this issue with any forums. I legit replaced two keyboards.

I think it started becoming commonplace after Microsoft Word started doing it long ago. The behavior is the same there; enter double spaces and starts a new paragraph; shift-enter does a single-spaced line.

Is this not something we can swap in the forum? I recall another topic about this too.

I don't really want to change it system-wide; I doubt there's a user setting for it, but might be worth checking.
