LaunchBox Version 7.9 running on Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I receive the error message every time I open LaunchBox after I have added my MAME rom collection. I have repeated the same process twice.

1.Install MAME 0.185 in LaunchBox. 2.Launch BigBox 3.Play games and have fun 4. Close BigBox/Launchbox 5. Reopen LaunchBox or BigBox and receive corruption errors.

The error is as follows: "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

App: LaunchBox Version: 7.9 Type: System.IO.IOException Site: Void WinIOError(Int32, System.String) Source: mscorlib

at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy, Boolean useLongPath, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize) at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials, IWebProxy proxy, RequestCachePolicy cachePolicy) at System.Xml.XmlUrlResolver.GetEntity(Uri absoluteUri, String role, Type ofObjectToReturn) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.OpenUrlDelegate(Object xmlResolver) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.RuntimeHelpers.ExecuteCodeWithGuaranteedCleanup(TryCode code, CleanupCode backoutCode, Object userData) at System.Threading.CompressedStack.Run(CompressedStack compressedStack, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.OpenUrl() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent() at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving) at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName) at (DataManager , String ) at Unbroken.LaunchBox.Data.DataManager.LoadGames(String filePath) at (DataManager , Boolean , Boolean ) at Unbroken.LaunchBox.Data.DataManager.Load(Boolean settingsOnly, Boolean forceReloadAll) at Unbroken.LaunchBox.Data.DataManager..ctor(Boolean bare, Boolean settingsOnly) at (String[] ) at Unbroken.LaunchBox.Desktop.Program.Main(String[] args)

Recent Log:

3:51:29 PM Exception"

Also after this happens, Windows will not allow me access to my MAME roms directory or my MAME UI directory. The Windows error reads as follows:

"Location is not available G:\LaunchBox\Emulators\mame\roms is not accessible The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

I have been enjoying LaunchBox so much. I build arcade cabinets and love this software. I can provide you with any more information that you may need. I hope we can find a solution. Thanks in advance.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that looks to me like your hdd might be about to fail. I had similar problems with a seagate usb drive which was doing the same thing, would work then randomly disappear like that. I managed to rescue 80% of the stuff on it before it died. Have you tried moving your mame folder to another location and seeing if you still recieve the same error?

I Thought the same thing at first. So I used a different hard drive the second time. The first time i was using a second hand Western Digital hard drive. I am currently using a 750GB Toshiba external drive that tests good in Crystal Disk Info.
