MrDetermination
So far I have figured out SNES, Genesis, GBA, NES and N64. But I'm stuck on regular old gameboy. I can fire up Retroarch and load the .gb roms using the same gambatte core and play fine. But I can't get games to launch from Launchbox. I have tried going to other emulators and back to Retroarch. I've tried applying other shaders. No go. I am suspicious that there is only a GBC listing here (and not a GB listing): Any clues?
Lordmonkus
Is your platform that you see in Launchbox named the same as in the Associated Platforms window ? Nintendo Game Boy Color A difference in the names will cause loading problems. Check for spaces.
MrDetermination
No. Under the platform list I have: Quote Nintendo Game Boy
Lordmonkus
There's the difference then. In your Associated Platforms you don't have a Nintendo Game Boy but you do have a Nintendo Game Boy Color. Either change the name of the platform itself or the associated platforms one to match.
MrDetermination
Okay, changing the associated listing gets me launching to a black Retroarch anyway. Progress! Thanks... I'll go tweak on shaders and see if thats it.
Lordmonkus
Yeah a black screen is soemtimes a shader incompatibility for one reason or another.
MrDetermination
Hmmm... no. I've tried two shaders and no shader in retroarch directly. I still get a black screen when I come in from Launchbox. I can hit F1 then and get to quick menu. But I'm stuck...
Lordmonkus
Hmm, strange since it does load for you just fine outside of Launchbox and it works just fine for me through LB using the command line: -L "cores\gambatte_libretro.dll"
MrDetermination
Yeah. Confirmed. Definitely the same core. Something Launchbox is sending is tripping it up.
Lordmonkus
Are you trying to load the same game through LB as you are loading from outside ? I'm asking because while gambatte doesn't require bios files it does support them as an option and that generally adds compatibility. I'm just thinking maybe the game you are trying is one of those games that may need bios. I am just guessing here at this point since you say other cores are working just fine for you. MrDetermination
Just re-verified. Definitely the same roms.
Lordmonkus
Try another core maybe ?
MrDetermination
AHA! It was when I went to rename the platform... I messed up the relationships between GB/GBA and their cores. All set now. Thanks for sticking with me!

damageinc86
I'm having an issue where Nintendo Game Boy (as scraped by launchbox) isn't even in my retroarch associated platforms list TO check the box to make it a default emulator. It only shows Game boy advance, game boy color, game cube, and virtual boy. I'm using the gear boy core and have everything working in retroarch outside of launchbox. I don't understand why launchbox doesn't show Nintendo Game Boy in the list of associated platforms? EDIT: Just found out by accident that you could double-click the bottom cell to add a new entry into the associated platforms list. Would have been nice to have some tiny text somewhere that said you could do that. Edited August 6, 2019 by damageinc86
Lordmonkus
Maybe Jason forgot to add it, you can add your own though, just go to the bottom of the list in the empty box and add it.
damageinc86
Yeah doing it now. Working good.

I was stumped with the same issue until I realized you could add your own platforms in the bottom field box.
