You issue of some games not launching may have been a bad disk image problem. I use both, I use ePSXe on my HTPC which isn't fast enough for the Retroarch core but on my main gaming rig I use the RA core because I like it's shaders better and easier to deal with multi disk game swapping with the controller. I can't get the hardware scaling to work when I try it. Always crashes at anything over 1x. Epsxe with the right plugins is supposed to be even more accurate than mednafen in hardware tests.
