Lordmonkus
Did you try downloading the .NET 4.7 installer and installing that first ?
rexryan
Why yes I did..What boggles me is all other updates have installed perfectly before.
Lordmonkus
Not sure what to tell you then. I had to install 4.7 on its own and restart once back when Jason first started using the 4.7 version. I'll tag @Jason Carr and maybe he has a suggestion or two.
Brucutus
New premium user here. I had the same issue. Fixed it by updating all windows patches related to .Net Framework (had a previous framework version though). Rebooted and then the automatic launchbox update worked perfectly. Jason Carr
Hey guys, typically any issues installing the .NET Framework 4.7 are due to missing Windows updates. So generally, if you make sure you're 100% up to do with Windows Updates, and then run the setup, you should be fine.
rexryan
that's true, but why would i have to update windows to get an update from 7.1 to to the latest release? And i am current on all the latest Windows updates.
Jason Carr
The latest 7.12 release requires the .NET framework 4.7. That's why.
rexryan
I have it..This is the reason i posted the issue..

Jason Carr
@Brucutus Are you running Windows 7 as well? Looking into it @rexryan.
rexryan
I did the download on it, Correct me if I am wrong you cant install it if you have a higher version? So if i did it's only getting it from LB updates..
Jason Carr
Looking into this, it appears that it's most likely a Microsoft glitch. According to their official documentation here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/how-to-determine-which-versions-are-installed The proper way to check for the framework is to check the version number from the registry, and check to make sure it's at least 460798, which I've confirmed is what we're doing. I'll do some further testing on Windows 7 to confirm that it's not broken in general, but I'm afraid MS might have just screwed the pooch on that system and somehow something got corrupted. @rexryan If you're okay with diving into the Windows registry, you can go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full\1033 and check the value of the Release node to see what the version number is. I'm guessing it's somehow incorrect. You might try uninstalling and re-installing the latest framework to see if that fixes the issue. My apologies for the trouble @rexryan. rexryan
ok..figured that out in the registry,,,deleted in programs for fresh install. All good but a no dice when launching LB or a separate install of >net.....I was on 4.6.2 on net framework..Ill save this for another day thanks for the help. Jason Carr
If you were on 4.6.2, then it makes sense because 4.7 is needed. We have run into a few issues where people have had trouble installing 4.7, but I believe they were resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling.
