mightymo77
You guys have been very helpful on this forum, I appreciate it. My question is if I launch FBA directly (not via LaunchBox) it opens normally in windowed mode. If I launch an arcade game from LaunchBox, FBA will try to load in full screen, I can see the icon in my taskbar, however the game does not load. I think this has something to do with my "Default Command-Line Parameters"? That section is blank. Does anyone know what the issue is? mightymo77
Does anyone have any idea about what in LaunchBox causes an emulator (FBA) to launch in full screen?
Lordmonkus
It's been a long while since I have used the stand alone version of FBA but I remember it being a pain to get working properly with Launchbox and I no longer have it installed to do any testing. I suggest switching over to Retroarch and its FBA core, it's much easier to deal with and works great.
mightymo77
Thanks so much for the response man. Good idea, I got the FBA core, made the changes in LaunchBox, but now RetroArch does not launch when I try to execute an Arcade game, LOL. They launch fine in RetroArch though. Lordmonkus
Double check your platform names and associated platform command line parameters for typos and loading the core you are wanting to use.
mightymo77
This is what I got.
Lordmonkus
Have you changed the emulator for all your games ? Select all the games in the platform with Control + A then open the bulk edit too with Control + E, then change the emulator to Retroarch. mightymo77
Yeah I did that too. Oh well. Edited January 13, 2018 by mightymo77
Lordmonkus
If your games load in RA on its own it will work in Launchbox. If you are 100% certain your platform name and command line parameter is correct and pointing to the correct core then maybe you got the "extract rom" box checked. mightymo77
The settings below produces: "The ROM you specified does not exist": The settings below causes nothing at all, RetroArch does not launch. Even if I right-click a game and choose Launch With > RetroArch: The settings below also produces RetroArch to not launch:
neil9000
If you right click a game and choose "open with" and then Retroarch, does it still say "The ROM you specified does not exist"
mightymo77
Yes if I uncheck all boxes (like in the top of the three images), right-click and choose RetroArch, I still get "The ROM file you've specified does not exist". What does it mean?
neil9000
That sounds like Launchbox itself can't find your Roms, have you moved them since you imported your platform? I use MAME for my arcade games but i just downloaded and setup the fbalpha core to test, and i have my options the same as your first image of the three, i just right clicked and opened with Retroarch and the game worked first time, so i think you have Retroarch setup correctly by looking at your images. mightymo77
This is correct, right?
neil9000
Is Launchbox installed in your Dropbox only? Because the Games\Arcade is a relative path only, so if you have Launchbox installed to your desktop for example as well it will be looking there for the games not your Dropbox. If however you have Launchbox only in your Dropbox folder then the games inside of your Launchbox folder there then that all looks correct. mightymo77
Yes LaunchBox is installed on my Dropbox, and this installation is my testing/monkeying around version. Once I sort out issues and settings, I have another installation on a 256GB SD card that I use. So, here is he full path: C:\Users\User\Dropbox\Emulation\LaunchBox\Games\Arcade, and LaunchBox.exe is in that LaunchBox path that I put in bold. neil9000
Hmm then i'm afraid i am out of ideas, the only thing i could suggest now is to delete the platform and re-import using Retroarch as the Emulator from the start (you would need to check the force importing this system as MAME on the last window of the wizard to make sure it imports as arcade), this will be quite a quick process as i assume you already have all the images and such, so you can uncheck all of them in the wizard, so it should only take a few minutes to import this time. mightymo77
OK thanks so much man. But just so I know I'm doing this correctly, I go to Tools / Manage Platforms and delete Arcade? If I do that this box appears, it will delete my ROMs too? If it does that I have to re-upload the Arcade ROM set to Dropbox, ughhh.
neil9000
No that wont delete your roms, it's just warning you that you wont be able to play them anymore. If you go to tools/options there is a checkbox to allow deleting roms as well, but that should be unchecked by default.
mightymo77
OK just did it, and made sure I checked the box to force importing as MAME. It didn't work, same exact situation as before. It's ok I guess. I wish it would work though.
