Retrofrogg
In preparation for a new set of MS-DOS games, I deleted the old MS-DOS.XML file in LaunchBox\Data\Platforms. The plan is to copy in the new XML supplied by the eXoDOS set. However, when I start up LB Next, The MS-DOS platform is still there with all the games contained within. When I exit LB Next, the MS-DOS.XML file reappears! What am I doing wrong? Edited June 2, 2018 by Dan
DOS76
so when you are going into file explorer and deleting the XML there are no instances of LB BB or LBN running correct? If any of those are open it won't let you delete the file. You could try using ctrl+a from within LB and deleting all the games in MS-DOS thus removing all of your games from LB and see if that works. Retrofrogg
Yes, no instances running. But when I start LB up again, the games are still there and a new MS-DOS.XML is created. Is this expected behaviour?
DOS76
I would say no.

Kondorito
I had a similar scenario a long time ago, and the problem was that one of the XMLs still had an entry for the platform I wanted to delete. I figured this out, because I opened up all the xmls in Notepad++ at the same time, did a query for a keyword of my platform name, and searched in all opened docs. Found the entry (maybe in the Settings.xml or similar), removed it, saved it, relaunched LB, and voila; no more platform. Seems that LB reads all the Data xmls while launching, and if it finds entries for platforms in any xml (even though the platforms are not listed in the main Platforms.xml), it regenerates them again.
