A_Clever_Monocle
so retroarch cannot find my ps1 games, bios are in the sysem folder and the games are in in bin and cue format but retroach seem to be incapable of finding or booting them (they work with the epsxe fine) but I cant use epsxe due to the fact that it hates my controller Edited July 23, 2018 by A_Clever_Monocle
A_Clever_Monocle
is it a format issue by any chance
neil9000
Bin and cue is what you want format wise. Retroarch doesnt need to see them at all, just import the .cue files into Launchbox and tell it which core to use.
DOS76
well wait if he is going to the directory where his games are in RA and it doesn't see the games that is a problem.
DOS76
Just to add and this applies to everyone the 1st thing anyone does before adding games to LB is get the games themselves working through the emulator before even introducing LB to the equation
A_Clever_Monocle
so the bin and cue files dont need to be paired in any way
neil9000
they should be next to each other in the folder, either individual game folders or a large folder with all the loose bins and cues in, only the .cue files are imported into Launchbox, trying to load the bins from Launchbox will not work. A_Clever_Monocle
or perhaps my bin and cue don't match (I admit that the files are downloaded because I have no Idea about how you turn games into roms and I don't feel like digging all my old games up)
neil9000
Well you said they work in epcsxe right? so if they work there they should work in Retroarch. When you are in Retroarch and select load content and navigate to the folder do you see the files?
A_Clever_Monocle
I dont see the files that is the problem
A_Clever_Monocle
the emulator is "blind" to them so to speak
A_Clever_Monocle
do the bios need to be in the same folder as bin/cue files by any chance
neil9000
Did you try importing them to Launchbox? and if so did you tell it to move your files?
neil9000
No the bios should be in Retroarch/System, but that doesnt matter at the moment, even if the bios is wrong or in the wrong place it should still see your files, it just wont load them. Lordmonkus
PS1 games from the paradise are generally ok but they can be hit and miss.

A_Clever_Monocle
I'm trying to play silent hill at present (planning to binge the whole series)
Lordmonkus
Retroarch and Mednafen (which the RA core is based on) is more particular over the disk images you use. Generally speaking though I have found that if the game is in cue + bin format it will work in RA. Saturn games tend to be more problematic with the disk images from the paradise.
