Virus detection.

Hello,i'm Mez and i'm new in this community. I wanted to install Launchbox on my PC. But my antivirus doesn't allow me.

 

 

Is Launchbox a virus?

Hi.  Welcome to the community.  Launchbox is completely safe... not a virus.  Many times inferior virus scanners will flag LB as a virus, but it's 100% safe to use.  Make sure you download LB only from this website though.  If you happen to have gotten the file from another website (or bundled with roms, etc.) then you can't be sure if it was tampered with or not.  If you got it from here, then it's 100% safe.

Yeah this isn't saying it's a virus, this is Windows Defender simply saying "hey, we don't recognize this software, are you sure you want to run it ?"

So the way around this is to find the file where you downloaded it, and run it from there. Then it should give you an option to run it along with the warning.

Yes. If you notice in his screenshot he doesn't have the option for More Info, or whatever it is that lets you get around the "Don't Run" option. If you run it from outside the browser, you should get that option.

If anyone has downloaded the Launchbox installer from somewhere else they are doing it wrong.

Just as a heads up, I downloaded Launchbox-9-3-Setup.exe from the Launchbox site just now, using the link that Launchbox sends over email. Windows Defender does flag the file, but I have the option to click more Info to proceed with the install.
