Jason Carr
4 minutes ago, Theman8631 said: Oh then there may be a typo. It says “Launchbox will update metadata and media, but only for empty fields or missing media.” Are you saying that it actually functions that it will “update metadata and media, but only for empty fields and will add new media.” However for something like box front, theres only one box front that I see per game when using that option and it doesn't download a new box front from what I can tell... At some point I have to stop spending time responding to things like this so that I can focus on development. I just ran a test to prove 100% that yes, it does download missing box front images even if you already have a different box front image in your collection for that game. I just tested with 8 Eyes for NES and it downloaded the missing box front image, despite the fact that I already had a different one in my collection. If you're testing and it's not downloading an image you're expecting it to download, it could be because of your region priority settings. I can see where your misunderstanding is coming from, but that's not a typo... "missing media" simply means just that, missing media, not "empty image categories in your collection". I understand that it could be phrased better though.
Rincewind
Yes users get confused by "missing media", thinking that it's there missing media. When really it's "new media"
Jason Carr
Hopefully this is more clear now:
TheNewClassics
Sorry to necro an older topic, but I'd like to make sure I understand correctly as well. I replaced an image in the database a couple months ago; in this case, it was Fight Night Round 3 for the 360. I uploaded a new Box - Front with the proper ESRB rating on it to replace the old one (had an RP rating). I went to update my metadata and media using the middle option/recommended option and it did not download the newly replaced box art. My understanding from @Jason Carr earlier replies on this topic was that it should download the replacement image, and I would still have the old image as well. Was this the way it's supposed to work when using the recommended option? Edited March 30, 2021 by TheNewClassics
